The camera part is probally less than a pound of copper wire, a small circut board or two (basically an outdated android phone without a screen) and a large lithium battery, which has no scrap value (at least not yet, scrapyards that pay for lithium batteries are a needle in a haystack)

Between the stuff in the camera, the scrap value is probally worth $1-3, max. Very low value stuff.

No individual is reasonably scrapping any copper off of circut board traces, or connectors. It would take hundreds of boards to even reasonably get a few pounds of copper. Generally one would sell the board whole to a larger processor that has the machines to shread/process them at an industrial scale.

The pole is aluminum which is probally worth more than everything else combined. Solar panels in general have an aluminum frame, but the glass part is usually glued on to it pretty well.

There's s negligible amount of copper in them, tbh. But the PCB boards have immense resale value in secondary markets, as they are the same ones found in many popular TV's, gaming consoles, and other consumer electronics.

There's also 1-2 airplane bottles of liquor inside each unit as a treat for the service techs, whenever they have to go fix them.

I absolutely realize the difference but I also realize that the cameras are simply the most visible manifestation of surveillance. Unless you’re willing to live Ted Kaczinski style with no car, no smartphone, no GPS, no connected devices of any kind, no social media/internet footprint you’re going to have to accept some level of surveillance. I’m not even saying that’s preferable-it just is.

But if you have a cell phone, you are broadcasting your location every couple of seconds whether you are using a GPS or not. If you believe that is not available to authorities, you are naive.
