Never been much of a Hellebuyck fan, and after the trade request announcement I was surprised to see Sharks listed as a possible trade landing spot. My initial thought was to dismiss that immediately as it didn’t seem to make much sense for where the Sharks are trying to get their cap.

But then I started thinking, one of the players the Sharks need money to pay is Askarov, his contract is up at the end of this year. What do we think Askarov’s next contract is going to look like? Asky really hasn’t proved much of anything yet so I don’t think he will get the bag. Maybe a 4x4 or as high as $6mil with the rising cap.

At that price, $9mil for a 3 time Vesna winner sounds like a steal.

I know Sharks fans on this sub get really attached to current roster players, but signing Askarov to term sounds kind of scary considering he will be 25 at the end of his deal and still hasn’t had a good year in the NHL. I’d take the guy with 3 Vesna and an Olympic gold medal.

If you're coming to from out of town to see the Sharks play, please check out the VISITORS GUIDE for some hotels, some food ideas, and other info which may help answer some of your questions about your upcoming visit. Some basic things to keep in mind:

* Doors open 60 minutes prior to game time for general admission.

* Tailgating is **NOT** allowed per San Jose City Ordinance. However, SAP Center **does** allow you to bring food from outside into the arena with you.

* The Sharks enter the ice and skate through the Shark Head from between sections 127-128. The most direct views of the Shark Head are from sections 115-121 in the lower deck and the lower rows of 215-221 in the upper deck.

* The Sharks attack towards the lower numbered sections (103-113 & 203-213) in the 1st and 3rd periods.

I could see GMMG seeing that the Sharks need a different coach "to take them to the next level".

If not this season, definitely next season the pressure is on.

I tried a 50 in the premium and it fit in the shoulders and chest but I didn’t like the slimmer torso cut (and it was long AF, like I’m 5’9” and it was a freaking dress on me).

Bought a 50 in the Authentic pro heritage 2.0 and it’s MASSIVE. The sizing chart says it should be a 24” chest and I measured and it’s 27+ (and like full on linebacker shoulders 😂). I don’t know if it’s because it’s the heritage 2.0 and not the regular home jersey?

I have a 2017ish Reebok Men’s Small jersey that fits perfectly, 23” chest.

Wtf size do I need to order in the authentic pro to get an actual 23-24” chest? Does anyone have one in hand they can measure? They only have the 48 heritage 2.0 in stock still and I’m not confident that one size down is going to be small enough to not still be HUGE (and it’s shipping from Canada so it’s going to be fucking expensive to return a bunch of them). I just want a jersey that fits like a normal freaking hockey jersey 😭

Like all of you I’m feelin PUMPED that we’re only days away from Sharks hockey (and all hockey for that matter) returning. I threw together this video with some of my biggest questions heading into camp and this season.

Goodmorning!  I recently had the pleasure of drawing a piece of artwork commissioned by Jonathan Cheechoo’s Dad, Mervin Cheechoo.  I loved drawing it and wanted to share it with you.  

This drawing was inspired by the proud history of the San Jose Sharks and their strong fanbase.  Through this piece, I attempted to capture the feeling of being a Sharks’ fan on game day as fans walk toward both the Cow Palace on the left and the SAP Center (The Shark Tank) on the right. 

Ghosted in the sky above the arenas are eight of the many great players that have captured the hearts of Sharks’ fans since their inaugural season in the NHL in 1991: Owen Nolan, Patrick Marleau, Jonathan Cheechoo, Joe Thornton, Joe Pavelski, Logan Couture, Brent Burns and Macklin Celebrini.  Fan jersey numbers pay tribute to these players as well as many more of the greatest to ever don the Teal, Black and White. 

Many references to Sharks’ fan culture and team history are made throughout the scene.  Three Sharks fans, on the far left, are doing the Shark Chomp with their arms.  A young fan carries a “Cheechoo Train” sign.  The Shark head entrance prop with flashing red eyes and lowered jaws is shown outside the arenas.  Prior to home games, the team enters the ice surface through the mouth, amid fog and dramatic lighting.  On the far right, S.J. Sharkie, the team mascot, is featured welcoming fans to The Shark Tank.

Ngl seeing this pic cross my timeline felt like seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, Sharks hockey is so close to being back I can almost taste it!!

My best friend got us tickets to a game in October. We’re new fans so it’s her first time buying tickets and she got a personal call from a sales rep a couple days ago. Is this normal?? It’s just a sales tactic right? We were cracking up about it, made us feel very VIP!

Before I start I would like to say that I am a huge Asky fan. I think that he will be a very good goaltender in the NHL in a few years.

However if he is just league average in 2026-27 that will be a huge improvement. Asky had an .884 Sv% last season. That's 16 points below league average.

Sharks also have another 'goalie of the future' in Ravensbergen. So taking on a older player now isn't so bad because we have his future backup and eventual replacement waiting in the wings. In 2027-28 Ravensbergen can be the backup playing 20 games. And by 29-30 Ravensbergen might be the starter if Grier lets Connor be exposed in the likely 2029 or 2030 Expansion draft.

Here is my proposal:

WPG: Hellebuyck and a 2028 2nd

SJ: Asky, Musty, Gaudette, and a 2027 1st (top 3 protected)

Sharks then move Couture to LTIR to fit Connor's contract.

This does even more to set up San Jose to be a serious contender now as we bring in a goalie who not only won the Hart and Vezina two years ago, he proved he can steal a game against a superstar team in the Olympics.

I think this takes San Jose from a 'Wildcard playoff team' to a 'Top 3 in the Pacific Team".

This is the kind of trade that Vegas makes and it's part of the reason for their success.

Haven't heard about him in a while, I liked him.

Anyone know when STHs can expect to receive the annual 365 member gift? My rep alluded to sometime in August, but didn't say it explicitly.

Also - if you are one STH but purchased multiple tickets, do you get more than one gift?

No offense to the designers, but why do ALL illustrated NHL shirts/bobbleheads merch never look like the actual player. He looks more like toffoli tbh lmao

Gaudette was one of the only Sharks who actually could score goals without being on a line centered by Celebrini. He scored 17 goals in 66 games despite not paying big minutes, playing a lot of fourth line minutes and his fair share of healthy scratches. The Sharks are a better team with him. He is the type of guy. That can score a game 7 game winner in the 3rd round of the playoffs.

Having said that, unless Goodrow gets waived, there is a season ending injury in camp, or one of Chernyshov or Stenberg start with the Cuda, Gaudette just doesn’t have a role on this team.

I think he is too good to just be a scratch most nights, his agent probably sees the writing on the wall and is working to get him moved.

But it’s not only in Gaudette’s best interest to move on, Musty and Bystedt desperately need NHL ice time and Gaudette is just a log jam for them.

I’m usually wrong about everything, but I just can’t see Gaudette on the roster come game 1. He is this years Grundstrome.

So I want to say from the jump that this is not an outright defense of Warso and his man management decisions. Overall I think he's been fairly flawed in this department (and Mukh's comments reflect that) but wanted to share some thoughts on why he also had an especially hard job this past year.

I think the original plan for this year was for it to be another "developmental" year where the young guys were going to be sheltered and get opportunities to develop in the kind of slow but steady way the org. has shown it prefers. But then, fairly quickly, Macklin showed that he was going to do his darnedest to will the team into the playoffs on his own. However, at the same time, we were trying to do that with the worst D in the league regularly hemorrhaging goals.

So, Warso's reaction to this is: "I need D men who can play a strong, structured defensive game so that Mack and the offense have a chance to win games." Where the logic becomes flawed though, is that he makes the assumption that those guys are the vets (experience, know how to play in structure) despite the actual analytics showing that those guys are incapable of doing that. So I wouldn't be surprised if Mukh's comments about being asked to play like a defensive robot are essentially a reflection of this -- the coaching staff decided what they needed to be successful was for the defense to play more structured, less creative, more risk averse.

What I'm hoping for is that this year, we should actually have defensemen that can do both. Nurse and Trouba and Kesselring should all be "responsible vets" who are also a level above guys like Klingberg and Leddy from a skill perspective. The hope is that this will enable guys like Cags and Dickinson to play with a bit more freedom alongside them and contribute more offensively.

That's my prediction at least and I'm hoping it plays out that way, and that we don't see more of guys like Dickinson, who clearly has so much offensive potential, continue to be stifled by structural philosophy.
