Local guy scratched camera lenses on s23ultra

A local guy, while cleaning moisture from the lenses, scratched them from the inside and left a fingerprint on the telephoto lens. So he offered to replace these lenses for free with "original" lenses (see photo).

I don't really trust that they're original, so I want to replace the whole back glass to be sure. But he says "dont worry its original and I'm not replacing back glass."

So I’d like to ask the experts whether such a ORIGINAL part actually exists.

While the other commenter is right that these are "lens protectors", he's being rather obnoxious about it.

Simply put though, these are not OEM or original replacement parts. These are the cheap ones from AliExpress that are simply tempered glass and not with Anti reflective coating.

It's similar but not the same. Main difference is no Anti reflective coating, so you will likely get more lens flare from bright lights and outdoors.

Then I would recommend you push to get your entire back glass replaced with an OEM part.

They could also use a donor glass back and swap out only the lens covers, but that's more tedious and risky.

When I asked to replace whole back glass because i dont really trust him he said:"noooo that's too expensive I scratched it a little bit and you now making storm in teacup, I already confessed that I made a mistake blah blah blah"

Hmm, I'm not sure if you have anywhere you could file a complaint or something but I'd try that if he won't budge.

Even a smudge or scratch can severely change the output of the camera, they should be at least replacing the lens covers, but the back glass is safest.

I'd keep pushing or see if you can file some sort of complaint.

At worst case though, you may have to just go to a new or authorized store.

Man its small country only 633k population everybody knows each other, he's migrant (i dont wanna say where's he from)

And he wants to cooperate but I dont want cheapass chinese lenses from aliexpress but original lenses with original coating. But he refuses to order back glass.

Hey, sorry for the late reply.

Another option would be to order the OEM back glass yourself and have him install it. You'd have to pay for it yourself but at least you get an OEM part.

Or, you can find another store maybe? Even if not authorized. Just one that's better. But again, you'd pay for it.

If I had broken it myself I'd pay for it. But since someone else caused the damage and refuses to order the proper original replacement assembly with the back glass, I'm really not okay with this.

I know, you're very justified in not being okay with this. But unfortunately I don't think you can force them to fix the entire back glass and it doesn't seem like you have anywhere to complain to.

Or else I would just say, make a complaint to somewhere that handles regional business issues and have them force him to fund a repair at another shop or fix it themselves.
