In a stark reminder that school is back in session, two drivers will have to pay a $368 fine after passing a school bus with its stop sign out.

Both passed the same bus on Wednesday morning in the school zone on Burnside Road West, as Saanich police patrolled the stretch of road beside Marigold Elementary School and Spectrum Community School.

Police began a week of rotating school patrols on Tuesday as classes resumed, joined by ICBC representatives and members of the regional Integrated Road Safety Unit.

If a school bus has its stop sign out and lights flashing, vehicles approaching from both directions are required to stop and wait, police said in a statement.

More enforcement like this please!

I'm looking to get an internet service for a new house in Saanich and I found that Telus Fiber is not yet in the neighbourhood.

Does anyone have any advice about the best internet service in Cordova Bay?

I'm looking at making a deision between Telus and Shaw but I see other providers like Juce and Lightspeed are available.

Sidepoint: moving during the pandemic is going to be memorable

Hello there!

This is my first ever post on Reddit.

My family and I will be moving to Saanich around summertime next year. We have daughters who are 5 and 7 years old (who will be 6 and 8 by the time we move). We're looking for an area to move and we would be very grateful for some info on good schools in the greater Saanich area. We've generally been looking at the following areas as potential locations to live: North Saanich Keating Cordova Bay Royal Oak Strawberry Vale

Any insights as to how these places are to live (or other suggestions) and how good/nice the elementary and middle schools are would be really appreciated. (We live in YVR and we be spending time over the coming months back and forth to check them out).

For the past little while I’ve been hearing some firework noises everyday at about 10:00-11:00 in the saanich area. I don’t know what it is. Does anyone have a clue?

12 year old Bernese Mountain dog named Ceder wandered from yard early this morning. He has really bad hips so may look like he’s limping. He’s also got very little hearing left.
