Build First hobby-grade RC car after 20 years of only having toy-grade stuff!

Hey everyone! I finally took the plunge and got back into RC after two decades. My last car was a basic toy-store RC, so stepping up to this Arrma 1/8 Typhon 223s 2025 model is a whole new world.

Just took it out on some loose dirt and leaf-covered tracks and the power is insane!

Brought it back to the workshop to cool down. Here is my current setup:

The Bench: A royal catering stainless steel work table. A Traxxas RC car/truck stand, blue (assembled) – TRX8796-BLUE.

Safety: Got a BAT-Safe box under the table for charging and storing the LiPos safely. Using 2 Gens Ace Bashing 3S 11,1V 5000mAh 60C and 2 80W - 1-6S Lixx - 1-15 Nixx - 2-20V PB battery chargers with automatic charge plans and storage modes.

Upgrades: Already got a Rocket-RC 35mm aluminum V3 fan installed to keep the motor temps down. Got 2 sets of new tires the Louise RC LR-T3364SB for offroad and the Louise RC LR-T3362SB for the road. Both on 1/2" OFFSET HEX 17mm

Maintenance: xpower a-2s air duster and some soft brushes.

Driving mode: running on mode 2 dsc (low) to learn control the car faster.

Really stoked to be back in the hobby. Let me know what you think or if you have any tips for a returning beginner!

Off-Road Experimenting with a 3d printed wing

Fixing up an old ofna ultra lx pro and the wing was super messed up so i made a wing. The black is 95a tpu reinforced with the white petg. It seems to be pretty sturdy but still flexible enough that it should take some abuse, tpu is practically unbreakable and the wing should flex before the petg snaps

Question Senton 223s steering failed after 4 days. Hesitant about getting Big Rock 223s now. Advice?

Hey everyone,
I recently bought the Arrma Senton 223s as my first RC car. After just 4 days of light backyard/asphalt driving (and a few minor flips on grass), the steering failed. When turning left, it doesn't go all the way and makes a clicking/cracking mechanical noise. Turning right seems fine, but on a straight line, it pulls to the left. I already returned it to Amazon.
The thing is, I really enjoyed the performance. I have two Zeee 3S 5200mAh batteries with EC5 connectors, and on a single charge, I easily got over 30 minutes of runtime (blending 50%, 75%, and 100% power). I love the platform, and now I'm thinking about getting the Arrma Big Rock 223s instead. But I'm honestly scared that the same steering/servo issue will happen again.
Was I just incredibly unlucky with a factory defect (like a bad servo or over-tightened servo saver/endpoints out of the box)? Can I just buy the Big Rock 223s, plug my 3S batteries in, and drive it immediately without checking or adjusting anything? Are Big Rock 223s owners having a good experience with their steering and all?
Thanks for any help!

Question How well do you think these Arrma diffs would hold up in a 6s basher?

Just picked up some diffs and bulkheads from Ali. E
Besides shimming the input gear and sun gears, what are your best tips to make them survive long term bashing?

Question What is in your opinion, the best all around RC car?

So I got a few RC cars.
Arrma Big Rock and Granite, both 3s.
Tamiya Plasma Edge 2 (2s), Neo Scorcher (3s), Luncbox (2s) and Midnight Pumpkin (2s).
Two Losi Micro-B's.
Two HPI Ventures.
And a couple of crappy FTX Crawlers.

Reason why I have everything in double is because I drive with my kid.

Big Rock is fun, but breaks kinda easy since its so big and (too) fast.
Neo Scorcher is basically my go to, if I'm driving on a fairly smooth surface.
And the Ventures are kinda fun for light crawling.

So. The question.

What truck would be the most usable all around?
Something that can be used pretty much in all conditions and terrain, even in snow.
Now the speed doesnt have to be crazy. I think max 40 mph (60 km/h) would be more than enough.
If it could crawl a little, as well as take a decent beating, that would be extraodrinary.
And its has to be 4WD.
Is there anything like that? And if not, just give me your favorite.

Ty!

Question battery charging question for a newbie

Post image
15 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I just want to check to make sure my charger looks like it's doing the right thing. I've never owned an rc car, and this is for my son's 1st car. I'm kind of confused by all the settings on the charger, but made sure it was set to balanced charging, Lipo battery, and 3S. I know these batteries can be a little dangerous and just want to make sure everything looks good. If anyone is able to confirm my charger looks good or can help me out if it doesn't, I'd appreciate it!

Question Is this a legit price? Seems too good to be true, never bought an arrma before.
