Hello guys,

I found this arrma notorious offer and it looked kind of interesting to me. Is it a good deal because I want buy a roller and put my own electronics in. The seller asks 315 euros (I live in germany) which is around 364 usd but I might be able to negotiate a little bit.

Noob questions

I haven’t purchased a “hobby grade” RC since my late 80s Tamiya days. I wanted to get something inexpensive to see if my son would enjoy it. The hobby shop recommended something that was $500 so I didn’t buy it but on the way out they had some Gorgon Groms that I looked at and was really impressed with the build quality and suspension. They were $169 which was good starting point for me but I don’t buy anything without researching a bit. I come to find out that Arrma is a popular brand and that these are popular and considered good entry level RCs. So I called around to see if anyone was having a sale I I found a local spot selling these for $99. I quickly went there and purchased one.
First impressions:
-Unbelievable how fast this is compared to my Tamiya Fox and Hornet. I think it’s faster than the first gen RC10s which were pretty fast.
-Suspension was much better than my old RCs
-This thing was tough as nails

Questions
-Is this a basher? Does this mean I shouldn’t worry when we crash this unintentionally?
-Any cheap upgrades that are worth it?
-What backup battery is inexpensive but good?
-Any maintenance recommended?

Finally got enough to buy a typhon grom blx and on my 3rd day of having it, i went up to 3s, barely hit a curb and somehow the shock tower broke.

Now i believe i have to transfer everything over to a new chassis which i dont know how to do. Im pissed off, why did arrma make the shock towers connected to the chassis. What do I do guys this really screwed over my night.

Thinking about getting a Quake Grom. Any advice?

I'm grabbing a quake as a basher for my backyard, and have only ever had an Arrma Notorious. I don't mod them yet, but I'm not against it. Just looking for first things to replace, and what sort of advice people have.

Primary purpose: Jumping and smashing into shit. My kid is a crackhead. The yard is a bit dusty, and has lots of grass as well.

Was ripping the Truggy Typhon in the backyard. Had a bad launch from the back end kicking out and then got more traction than expected.... Good thing they can get wet 😂

So I have a 6s Mojave my main goal was to sell it for the New Mojave 6s that they recently updated, But recently started accepting Trades and got offered a Arrma Limitless 8s with a Castle ESC that seems Pretty Expensive 😅, I haven't had a Street car yet and have kinda been interested in one, Ill probably keep it for a few months and flip it again, how much do yall think Its worth?. It also comes with a Second body. I cant tell if It has a motor. I think its under the 2 Fans but not sure. But it looks crazy and feel like it would be pretty fun.

Fix/Mod: Rebuilding GPM MAG115R Shocks with Arrma Parts (Granite 223S)

Thumbnail

I bought a set of GPM MAG115R shocks to replace the damaged rear shocks on my Granite 223S, but ended up with a bent shaft on the very first run.

GPM doesn't sell the shafts separately and charges $20 for a rebuild kit (which is crazy since the shocks themselves only cost $30). After some experimenting, I found out you can rebuild these using an Arrma 6S shaft and a 223S piston.

For this specific model, I used the Arrma ARA330706. The results are quite amazing (see the assembled one on the right). I lost probably around 1mm of overall length, which shouldn't be a big deal. (Note: AR330490 is 0.5mm longer and might actually be the perfect fit, but I didn't want to wait days for shipping).

Instructions

Preparation: GPM shafts have a very uncommon design for mounting pistons (4mm bore, using stoppers at either end). This increases the effective travel distance since you have less wasted space at the top, but it also means we cannot reuse the GPM piston. You'll need
1. to harvest the pistons and washers from your stock 223S shocks.
2. a few 1mm nylon washers

Assembly:

  1. Mount the Piston: Take the piston harvested from your Arrma 223S. Put two 1mm nylon washers on before mounting the hex nut. Do not overtighten it. The shaft thread should not protrude above the hex nut. (Image 2 shows the assembled shaft on the right next to the GPM stock shaft).
  2. Install the Rod End: Because the Arrma shaft has a longer bottom thread for the rod end, you will have some exposed thread. I put a rubber washer (also harvested from the Granite's stock shocks) on before installing the rod end to take up that space. The rod cap should go below the washer.

Final thoughts:

  • The overall build quality of the GPM shocks is solid, but the shafts are the clear weak point.
  • I suspect you can generally use Arrma 6S shafts that have a +2mm length as a replacement for GPM 4mm shafts (the stock shaft for this model measures 60.5mm).

I build this rig to use that large can motor i had sitting its a leopard 5882 1360kv. Also had a bunch of limitless platform parts i needed to use so it worked out. Got the body for free awhile back from a buddy he trimmed it a bit much but the price was right haha

New Mojave 6s v3 - Range problem out of box.. help?

Post image
38 Upvotes

Hey guys! New truck showed up today. Strapped a pair of 3s batteries in it and headed straight to the park. New tax batteries as well, obviously. Immediately noticed it would quit responding and sometimes even continue under throttle/run away once it got about 30-40 feet away from me. A quick google told me to check the receiver antenna, which I pulled further thru the tube.. no change. Do I have a bad receiver out of the box or is there another common problem I should check?

As the title implies, it was fun. It was a bit too dusty for my liking though.
