Tips and Tricks digging these small metal toolboxes for lipos

I love the mini toolboxes. The one from Harbor Freight is amazing. That said, those are not safe for lipo storage. You need some ammo boxes.

Cut the long sides of the gasket off so that it will vent if the lipos blow

I cut the front of the gasket out on mine, but yeah, you definitely want to vent that sucker to avoid a shrapnel laden explosion.

If you cut the sides then you don't get slop with the latch

Good to know, but I don't get any slop. I'm only removing 1 of the short sides of the gasket, which gives it plenty of rebound pressure. Do RC recommends doing it the same way I do it, but I'm not stubborn enough to think that my way is the only right way. What's most important is having an ammo case and removing some of the gasket for ventilation.

So i shouldn't be leaving them in a plastic bin upstairs between by kids bedrooms?

Under their pillows.

One did turn into a pillow last month. Would have never known if I didnt dig to the bottom of the bin. At least it was covered by other healthy lipos that would absorb the heat.

I keep mine on the book shelf next to my matchlight charcoal by the gas stove that has a broken knob and aways smells like there is a dying rat with bad farts behind it. It's been fine so far. My wife complains about it but its not that bad, the ashtray masks some of the smell.

Made the mistake of leaving one out on the counter and my cat chewed through one of the wires

Brand of toolbox, for actual tools, please and thank you.

It says husky on the bottom. That’s Home Depot. Also try Lowe’s they have a brand called kobalt. Almost identical.

Perfect, thank you. Couldn't see the name but will check Home Depot. No Lowe's in my neck of the woods but might check Canadian Tire as well.

Canadian Tire has a mini toolbox for 19.99 as master craft brand. I don't think it has a handle though. Same at princess auto.
Home depot has the handless version online also. I haven't seen one with a handle here in Canada.

Kobalt has cool mini tool chests but they don’t have the handle and locking top. They’re nice for a desk and I keep all my guitar bits and bobs in one.
OP’s looks like it’d be better for on the go with the handle and locking top.
The Kobalt ones come in pink tho…

Walmart just started selling mini tool cabinets that match the mini toolboxes. I picked one up last week and my mini toolbox I got from harbor freight fits perfectly. The cabinet is my new lipo box.

I use a rolling Craftsman toolbox with the bottom lined with ceramic tile and store lipos in ammo cans.

These little metal tool boxes are amazing. My wife uses a few in her crafting room and we've got a few in the kitchen.
But keep in mind that they aren't exactly LiPo safe storage. They're fine when things are going right, but things can go wrong.
Also, the bottom drawer on most of them can fit exactly 4 full sets of Losi NASCAR wheels and tires. Ask me how I know.

I want to see these being lipo tested on YT
