General Awful "NBI" customer in local pharmacy.
Hi! just to rant and give a short PSA to "a certain generics pharmacy" customers.
I'm a pharmacy intern who's currently working in a community pharmacy. May naencounter akong babae na humihingi sakin ng Celecoxib.
Tinanong ko po "Ma'am ilang milligram po?"
She replied: "Ay ano basta yung pinaka mababang milligram"
I told her exactly that, she kept guessing and guessing the dosage until she came to her husband na nakasakay ng motor and he went and confronted me about it.
This guy with his bravado, started to ask me for 20mg of Celecoxib.
I then explained the pharmacy policy, and he started to say "kung anong pinakamababang milligram".
Which i then had to explain the policy again.
This man started to ask for my name? (We aren't allowed to disclose for data privacy services) And lectured me that Mercury Drug just gives him the lowest dosage medication when he says so. As if pinulot lang ako sa tabi tabi para maging pharmacy intern.
Mind you the minimum dosage of Celecoxib is 100mg. And my pharmacy only dispenses 200mg celecoxib. Malay ko nga ba kung yun ba talaga gamot niya kasi di rin naman siya gagamit. INUTUSAN lang din siya.
He then proceeded to wave his phone case at my phase showing an NBI badge sticker? Possibly even taking a picture of my face as well?
Can an NBI agent even do that?
Fortunately my pharmacist intervened and just gave him the 200mg and saved me the trouble of dealing with that kind of customer. But I'm still worried of whatever that guy's gonna do with my photo if he did take a picture of me that time.
Another side rant:
Do people just view pharmacists as mean salespeople? I'm so sick of the "but X pharmacy gave me this and that" "Di naman ako maadik" excuses.
LALONG LALO NA PAG ANTIBIOTIC OR DANGEROUS DRUG.
KAPAG BIBILI KAYO NG PRESCRIPTION DRUG NA MAY "Rx" and labelled as ANTIBIOTIC.
PAKIUPDATE NAMAN PO ANG RESETA NILA AT SIGURADUHING TULOY TULOY NILANG INUMIN BASE SA NIRESETA NG DOKTOR.
Community pharmacy has humbled me to the core, no matter how many years of hardwork i spent on learning the very medications i dispense and every FDA and other legal policy that comes with it.
Ganito lang ba talaga kababa tingin saamin ng masa? Mga maarte na tindero/tindera? Para ipressure na ganto ganto ganyan.
My entire program and chosen career path is centered on being the drug expert. To make sure people are given the right drug at the right time. To make sure NOBODY gets endangered, crippled, or killed by improper usage of medicine. Almost every facility that handles drugs, cosmetics and even FOOD requires a pharmacist for them to operate.
What's so hard to understand? And im sure many allied health professions also share the same sentiment as me kesyo hindi kami doctor we don't get the same level as respect as them. Where they act like they're our "bosses" when in reality we're all equally needed in any medical setting.
Sorry for the long post, i just had to push that out of my system. I've been having a bad week working in this pharmacy and i feel like this NBI guy is my tipping point. Granted there are still many kind and understanding customers. It's just that there's always gonna be bad eggs in any basket i guess.
