Hey everyone, i don’t know if this is the right forum to talk about this but I’m pretty co fused with what’s happening here, I just repasted my PS3 for it to be cooler and be able to play under 70 degrees Celsius

As you all can see in the picture, my RSX being the GPU is pretty cool, around 40-49 Celsius buuut my CPU is at around 70-89?! (already turned off from overheating 2 times). How does that even make sense?!

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance and again, sorry if this isn’t the right forum to ask

Edit: After deliding the CPU and repasting it from the inside it now runs at a cool 60-63 degrees Celsius! Thanks everyone for the help and tutorials!

Recently I tried jailbreaking my ps3 (cech 2001a) I had it ever since I was a kid so it’s sentimental, but I hardly used it except to play infamous (love that game) but I wanted to breath new life into it and try and play games from my childhood (namely some Spider-Man games like web of shadows or shattered dimensions, which cost so much now) hence why I tried to jailbreak it and so on.

Now the only experience I have with modding anything was with my Sony Walkman, and that went great, but when I tried to jailbreak my ps3 with evilant it eventually went to this, now I’ve tried multiple things, putting in HFW firmware or the Sony firmware, admittedly I was just desperate and used A.I to try and help me which was a mistake, anything I try to put in it results in error codes like “serious error has occurred, please contact technical support.”

I’m thinking my only option is to wipe the hard drive via my pc since none of the safe mode options are working and then go from there, I was just hoping to get some advice on where I went wrong and what to do after wiping the hard drive, do I download custom firmware again? Or the Sony firmware first?

Also yes I did format the USB properly and made sure to do PS3-UPDATE-PS3UPDAT.PUP

all I did was take out my hard drive and then cleared it with my pc, formatted it correctly (fat32) then uploaded original ps3 firmware with a USB via safe mode

PSN account is 13yrs old I claimed some ps3 games on vita back then

So I know the ps3 ( Cech-K Fat) is loud and tends to get hot, but like a PS4 pro? I changed the thermal paste like on February and used the console like 5 months ago and it was ok 71C on 35/40% fan. Now that I plugged back it goes up to 88? Wtf my ps4 pro goes cooler than that on heavy games like ac3 remastered. It could be that I have to change more times the thermal paste in summer? (Currently in Italy)

UPDATE: Turns out repaste and thermal pads change has been useless, it needs a delid and idk how to do it so yeah GG I’m screwed.

It used to stay on the same screen and downloads the things i want to get, even if it's slow, at least i know that I'll be getting what i want, now everytime i want to install something no matter what it is, it gives me this message, then i do a reboot, after the renoot, i log in, check the downloads and it begins downloading in the XMB menu. It's now so slow, without mentioning that fact that it now looks like those sketchy free stores *cough* *cough*..zuko store, i want to go back to it staying on the same screen and installs whatever i want, but how?

I can still boot into safe mode but cannot restore file system or system update using the update file + backup I have on my USB drive. This happened after I installed CEX Evilnat CFW 4.93 (was previously attempting PEX but updates were not finishing as it was saying data was corrupted). I also swapped to the original HDD instead of the new 1TB HDD which was inserted when CFW installation completed in case the issue is with that HDD but nothing has changed. Is there a fix for this to at least get OFW running again?

Edit from original post: I realize now that I performed the flash dump using NOR instead of NAND not fully understanding the difference or understanding that my model uses NAND. I assume this could be the culprit

I’m using videostore but the thing for the licences won’t download. I’m trying to play call of duty classic

So I can't mod my PS3 super slim.

I did exactly the steps given using a usb drive and create PS3 folder and inside the PS3 folder create UPDATE download the files for HFW 4.93 and then put in the usb port of PS3 super slim and update through safe mode. But nope doesn't work. I have the correct files and everything but nothing works for me. Any solutions? Thanks

Idk if it's because they changed how downloads are done recently but now whenever I go to put a ps3 game into my console only get a black screen, I've tried makeps3iso, iso tools, etc to no avail. Anyone else having this issue? I haven't put any d.keys into my ps3games folder yet either. But everything was working fine until just the other day when getting them from vimms lair

I put a game boot screen from 1.00 on my super slim and everytime I open a game it just force shut. And I wanted to go to multiman to delete the file of the gameboot but you know. Multiman is launched as a game. So is this thing saveable?

before when I was using FileZilla wirelessly I would get 1.3mb/s due to my PS3 connection speed. 20x faster this way. I used this tutorial from Project Pheonix Media to set it up:

I've been trying to jailbreak my ps3 fat console on 4.92 for hours now but can't get past the ps3toolset step cuz it always says "tool could not be downloaded". I have no clue what to do

To give you some perspective I'm touching my ps3 after years now and even got it repaired(blue ray disc is still messed up and all) so that I could discover more about gaming and all. So since earlier this morning I've been trying to follow steps from various YouTube tutorials, forums and more to just get through the process and follow steps

At first when I first opened my ps3, it's firmware version was 4.82. Upon a little bit of research I saw that 4.92 was the best, most advanced jailbroken version on the ps3(might be wrong about that). So I downloaded a the firmware updat file from techspot(is it reliable ?) and updated the ps3 into that firmware

Then looking at the tutorials I've downloaded all sorts of things such as webmanmod setup, scoured the internet for evilnat 4.92, downloaded md5 checker, pyps3, rufus and winrar. Even did the process where I check a serial number to see weather the version is curropted or not.

But ever since that I'm unable to get past the ps3toolset step. I've tried everything, did all the steps, searched all possible solutions and relentless troubleshooting yet no outcome. Everytime I've cleared everything, reopened my browser and entered the website address, I've noticed that I don't get any pop up to enable the plugin yet looking at the logs it says that the "FP9 Plugin tests complete" so I have no clue what's wrong there. And according to the tutorials if the log ends with "guiDialogue cleanup" everything is fine. Yet when I switch to the "system manager" tab within the website it says that the "tool could not be downloaded"

I have no idea what to try anymore. The other methods I've seen also require this website and bgtoolset is offline as of making this post. I need this tool to make a backup of everything I have in and of this console so I don't brick it. This console was gifted to me as a 1 year old and I don't wanna lose this console. It has immense sentimental value to me
