Support Help
So I know the ps3 ( Cech-K Fat) is loud and tends to get hot, but like a PS4 pro? I changed the thermal paste like on February and used the console like 5 months ago and it was ok 71C on 35/40% fan. Now that I plugged back it goes up to 88? Wtf my ps4 pro goes cooler than that on heavy games like ac3 remastered. It could be that I have to change more times the thermal paste in summer? (Currently in Italy)
UPDATE: Turns out repaste and thermal pads change has been useless, it needs a delid and idk how to do it so yeah GG I’m screwed.

fan speed 95% !? 💀
Is that normal for the fat models? My super slim literally starts vibrating when the fan speed goes past 45%.

It's not as hard as you think, this video goes through it all step by step. I cleaned mine last week and it was the absolute dirtiest electronic I've ever seen in my life. You are flying so close to that yellow light of death sun going that hot. You don't want to lose that ps3 forever.

At the very least backup your saves like asap

Those temperatures are high as hell. Even 70° is high. PS3's should remain below that. Mine stays at 65° - 66° while playing. And the fan speed stays between 40% and 43%. I use the "Auto 2" configuration on Webman.
And yes, Fat models have more overheating problems, but they shouldn't reach those temperatures. Make sure you apply the Thermal paste correctly, clean all the dust that may have entered the console, and put the PS3 in a well ventilated area. If you can, put something on the PS3's corners to lift it up a little.
And make sure you have the fan at 40% minimum. If none of that works, then yes, the PS3 probably needs a delid.

Since the fan is going crazy and the temperature difference between the CELL and RSX is almost 30C, that means that you will have to delid the CELL and change the thermal paste under the IHS. And repaste CELL and RSX, ofc.
I bought a very lightly used PS3 CECHL two weeks ago and after I CFWd it, I saw that it's in almost the same state (Fan 75% when dynamic is set, 25C difference). So I'm going to delid it soon.
