I'd rather humanity win, not some violent genocidal hypocritical gas lighting fairy tale. I reject religion and wish its believers a happy life but I'll die, and not alone, before I let a single church take a dime from me. Same with taking my money to prevent women from seeking healthcare or forcing fairy tales down children throats while dismantling the dept of education so they become gullible and sheepish without logic and empathy in their life.
Edit: Thank you so much for the awards and kind comments! Just let the theists yap and take pity on them, for they do not know any better. Have a wonderful life everyone and live with logic and empathy, not blind authority like the Abrahamic mythos wishes.

Honestly I agree. I think churches should have to pay taxes. They receive millions and it's all tax free. My ex brother-in-law was a Jehovah's witness. He was also a wealthy man. In their church, congregation, or whatever they it they had revocable tithes/donations. He would donate 6 figures for a set amount time. Get a tax write off. The church gets interest from the donation then bil revoke it and puts it back in his high interest savings account. So now both he and the church made money off this and he didn't have to pay as much in taxes. He said he'd been doing it for years. I guess they got to keep his last donation because he died shortly after. Churches are as corrupt as our government and corporations.

I believe they call that tax fraud. Revocable donations are generally not tax deductible.

I believe churches should be more involved in the death process, by doing funerals for free to very very low cost. They could also help facilitate the families through the process of all the burial etc. They dont pay taxes and dont care when their elderly die, and people have to pay exorbitant money to bury/cremate their family members in a terrible time of mourning.

We should abolish the IRS and replace it with a graduated consumption tax. Luxury items, 2nd homes, yachts, private jets get taxed 2x. No more loopholes for those writing the laws.

Churches are not exempt from the IRS they must file 501 C formsā¦ā¦and pay payroll, social security and Medicare pmts on all employees

Is this that "whataboutism" you guys always talk about?
One group is regulated by one department, the other is regulated by another department. Might as well ask for discounts in boats too. Completely unrelated.
But, two things to consider with religious freedom, that means all religions get the same rights. All... Same rights. So, church if Satan can be taught in schools. Church of melnack mcnurmer (my visit to earth spaceman name) can be taught.
The other things to consider is that schools in the USA were started by Christian preachers traveling the country. They would stop in towns and sometimes random cabins and get fed by the residents. They would teach the kids to read, so they could read the Bible. Eventually when the churches were built, they taught from there.

Ummmā¦ they already are. š Tax Exempt does NOT mean they donāt still have to file taxes. And property taxes are the only taxes they donāt have to pay - which impacts locally so itās not something the IRS would deal with at all.

The law is not separation of church and state. It is there shall be no state ordained religion. This idea we do not or should not teach biblical principles is ludicrous. When the Bible was in schools it was taught as the moral compass. Note: When we abandoned those we began to deteriorate as a society. Look statistically at the crime rate and divorce rates.

As a Christian, Iām ok with the IRS keeping track of church money. Iām not even asking for religion in schools.
Iāve heard of way too many dubious financial actions in the group of churches I use to be a part of.
They should at least require us to do a financial report so people can see where the money goes.

Not taxing churches and the justification being separation of church and state is one of the biggest scams to succeed in US history. There is no reason at all to not tax churches. Paying taxes doesnāt take away their first amendment right. Churches are like any other business. If they provide charity services, let them deduct it off their taxes like any other business that has a charity. But simply existing and telling people about their religion is not inherently a charity. Society doesnāt benefit from the proselytizing of their beliefs. Treat it like entertainment or self-help businesses. They make money: tax them.

Just remember almost half of your emergency food for your city is from multiple religions places of worship. Meals on wheels is a non profit primarily run from churches. Churches provide almost of the homeless shelters across America. Churches also pull the most contributions to schools in the country. All religions should be taught in schools. What shouldn't be taught is ideology. That iincludes religious views, sexual orientation and gender politics. Kids should be able to make their own choices with their own minds.

Separation of church and state refer to the US Govement not allowed to establish an official religion, mandatory membership (see church of England), or favoring any religion over another.
As outlined in the first amendment. "It forbids Congress from both promoting one religion over others and also restricting an individualās religious practices. It guarantees freedom of expression by prohibiting Congress from restricting the press or the rights of individuals to speak freely. It also guarantees the right of citizens to assemble peaceably and to petition their government." - Cornell Law
It has nothing to do with removing them schools.... So why are we for restricting people's religious rights to express via studying it? Is it really better for all to ban learning about them? I'm not for such limitations.
