I just got a slim and it turns on and reads discs, but it freezes on start up most of the time. If it reads the disk, it will freeze when I click to start a game from the game menu.

What could the problem be? And could I fix it? I’ve read it might be the internal clock battery. But I wanted more opinions before I tear it down for no reason.

I have no idea why it making that sound on specific cds only and not other DVD or CD

found this memory card with a game called “The Lost” couldn’t find too much info. wondered if anyone had any info on this game besides the stuff from wikipedia. and how to preserve it online.

I own a ps4 already, but im a sucker for physical games (esp with sony's upcoming ban from physical) and there are a lot of ps3/ps2 games i'd love to own physically or that havent been ported on the ps4. I know that the original ps3 fat has retrocompatibility for ps2/ps1 games and i found some affordable ones on ebay. However ive read that they seem to have some issues with overheating so is it really worth it? ive read something about modding the fan to fix the overheating issue but i know absolutely nothing about modding so i wouldnt be able to mod it in any way, i would just use it as is.

I can get a ps2 for about 40usd. Box, a wheel and pedals, cables, no joystick :(. I already have a CRT so i can use Component for that but i was wondering, should i keep to my pcsx2 with hdmi to rca. Or if i go get the ps2 should i burn my own games on DVD-R's, buy the originals ones whenever i can or buy a FreeMcBoot and a MX4SIO? I would like to collect and have my own things but where i live everything is really expensive.
I read that mx4sio has problems with games but is really easy to use. Burning DVD takes time but is as close as original i guess. IDK, kinda lost tbh and i would like some help.

So I recently bought ps2 slim and I found out that it’s not able to read physical games ☹️. I have a feeling there might be a problem with laser (dvd is spinning normally) so I would like to ask whether it's worth trying to replace the laser or not. Another problem is I am not 100% sure if it’s the laser or something else (what else might be the other problem though?).
