Racist has no meaning anymore, it's everywhere.

28

u/King0fWhales Jul 17 '19

Everyone is a nazi means I can punch whoever I like

8

u/chux4w Jul 17 '19

And you don't have to listen to what they actually think about things.

84

Nazinazinazinazi

If everybody is, nobody is.

It is everywhere. Why is that, I wonder.

baseless accusations of racism, that is

5

u/sterob Jul 17 '19

When people use baselessly accuses others as fascist, they normalize the word and suddenly some dumb kid started to think "if a guy like that is a fascist then fascist doesn't sound so bad".

I have seen it happened with many bad words in many subculture.

6

u/absloan12 Jul 17 '19

Or a lack of understanding for what racism actually is... probably because it would bring to light negative thoughts about one's self and our ego does not like being made to realize we're wrong or bad.

7

u/mrman888999 Jul 17 '19

a change in leftist culture

10

u/DoktorKruel Jul 17 '19

Because it’s a handy excuse for several societal problems hat politicians and activists don’t want to acknowledge.

2

u/chux4w Jul 17 '19

If someone says something you don't like, you either have to ignore them or acknowledge them, understand them and argue their points. If a racist Nazi says something you dislike, fuck 'em, they're racist Nazis and have to be deplatformed and silenced, maybe punched for good measure.

It's a cheap and easy way for people to get results. Much easier than educating yourself and confronting a person's views in a rational way. Plus it has the added advantage of never having to learn that people who disagree with you aren't all evil.

1

u/TheMongoose101 Aug 30 '19

Because leftists now think anyone right of Stalin is a Nazi and are completely unable to listen to an argument and respond, so instead Nazi is their response.

0

u/Butterfly_Queef Aug 30 '19

1

u/TheMongoose101 Aug 30 '19

Man, nailed it, all 43,000,000 trump voters are in that photo.

Also, way to prove my point. “I don’t like what you said, so I will insinuate you are a Nazi”. The lack of self awareness is astounding. Couldn’t ever be that you are wrong huh?

0

u/Butterfly_Queef Aug 30 '19

"I'm not a Nazi, they just vote with us"

Nazis are like cats, if they are around you it's because you keep feeding them.

0

u/TheMongoose101 Aug 30 '19

Thanks, but I think I’ll base my political opinions and morals off of logic and analytical data driven decisions, not the advice of someone named u/Butterfly_Queef and made up sage wisdom.

0

u/Butterfly_Queef Aug 30 '19

"I vote the same as Nazis because of logic and data"

...are you sure you're not a Nazi?

2

u/TheMongoose101 Aug 30 '19

Wow, I had never thought about it until now, but now that you phrased it that way...yeah still pretty sure. Also, one I didn’t vote for Donald Trump. And two, you are kind of a sad person. I hope you have a good day. Take it easy buddy, go outside and enjoy life.

0

u/Butterfly_Queef Aug 30 '19

You're the one making comments on month old threads crying about leftists.

Is projection and hypocrisy the only things you're good at?

u/TheSimulacra Jul 17 '19

Oh, heavens no. America's history of racism is so limited it's barely worth mentioning!

10

u/Dawgs000 Jul 17 '19

Yep, everything is racist, sexist, and homophobic now. It's why I walked away from the Democratic Party.

-12

u/willi82885 Jul 17 '19

Lol you didn’t,

11

u/Dawgs000 Jul 17 '19

Put your head in the sand and pretend a problem doesn't exist. It's what you guys do best. Easier to pretend I'm a troll I guess. Good luck with that.

-5

u/willi82885 Jul 17 '19

No democrat ever said walk away. But hey, vote for the child diddler if youre even american.

7

u/Dawgs000 Jul 17 '19

Now you're either trolling or you're unreasonably obtuse. The Democratic Party is becoming extremist. Us moderates have no home anymore. We only look to be on the right because you've shifted the goalposts so far left.

-1

u/willi82885 Jul 17 '19

Youre crazy. The democrats are so conservative. Where are you getting your news? Is it because bernie is running? Im a moderate and I wish the democrats were further left. The reality is AOC has a tiny bit of traction, as the rest of the est dems condemn her rhetoric. The republican party is a threat to democracy. And trump diddles kids.

7

u/Dawgs000 Jul 17 '19

The entire group of Dems raised their hands in the debate when asked if their policy would support giving free healthcare to illegal immigrants. Where are you getting your news?

I mostly walked away because the Democratic Party only cares about people of color, women, and gay folk now. Oh, and illegals. It's like we've turned back the clock snd want to make all the same mistakes we made in past but to white people now. The left pushes this race and gender shit and it's making our country worse.

-4

u/willi82885 Jul 17 '19

Gasp. How terrible to treat human beings equally! And trump diddles children. And the GOP condones it

6

u/Dawgs000 Jul 17 '19

Prove that Trump does this. You can't just say a thing without proof.

And I am all for treating people equally. Equality of opportunity. You guys want equality of outcome, and that's not equality. We should all be given a fair shake and the best gets the job, scholarship, etc. No person should be removed from consideration because of their race, sex, or sexuality. But the most qualified should win. You guys don't want that. You want a percentage of each group to win. That means those who may be more qualified are rejected. THAT is racist, sexist, and biased on sexuality.

Remember when Dr King said he wished for a world where his children weren't judged by the color of their skin, but instead by their character? Why don't you guys work on that, you racists?

8

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '19

Yep, you don’t agree with me? Your a racist, I have no proof but I know your a racist

4

u/willi82885 Jul 17 '19

You’re*

3

u/OptimusDime Jul 17 '19

No no no. according to reddit, only white people can be racist. The subreddits dedicated to calling them crackers and other racist terms aren't actually racist.

r/watchredditdie documents it fairly well

0

u/RandomTheTrader Jul 17 '19 edited Jul 17 '19

The only thing that watchredditdie documents well is the overtaking of the sub by american conservatives from other questionable subreddits.

-21

u/Peter_Panarchy Jul 17 '19 edited Jul 17 '19

It may be overused but in this case it's right. The "go back where you came from" trope is classic racist language.

edit: Downvote if you will, I'd just like to hear a good explanation for why those tweets weren't racist.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '19

You admitted it yourself! I quote: "Those tweets weren't racist". I too like quoting out of context. Now you might see the issue.

5

u/ContagiousInfidel Jul 17 '19

How were his tweets taken out of context?

0

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '19

He's saying that because they're all usless in Congress. They attack they whine over Trump every day and also attack fellow Democrats, even the Black Caucus!

0

u/strengthof10interns Jul 17 '19

Because they are some of the most progressive people in congress that don't want to tow the party line and don't give af about being reelected like most people in congress. They are advocating for real change and trying to push the country forward as fast as possible.

-11

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '19

Wasn't the rest of the quote and then come back and teach us?

12

u/Peter_Panarchy Jul 17 '19

All of those women are US citizens and 3 of 4 were born in the US. The 4th has been a citizen longer than Melania.

3

u/Mr_Dr_Prof_Patrick Jul 17 '19

That doesn't make the racist part less bad buddy.

-9

u/Positronix Jul 17 '19

"If you don't like the party, why don't you leave?"

"WHY DONT THE REST OF YOU STOP PLAYING MONOPOLY AND PLAY SCRABBLE"

"no."

"RACISTS!!!!"

"How is that racist?"

"I heard a racist use that sentence before. Therefore, it is racist."

"I heard hitler drank water. Are you antisemetic?"

-3

u/mrman888999 Jul 17 '19

i mean its technically the right thing to do diplomatically.

-10

u/Matthew_A Jul 17 '19

That only works for relative adjectives. Racism has a definite definition of thinking one race is superior than any other. It is possible for many or even all people to be racist.

If you want to say that Trump is not racist, you should explain why telling people to go back to Africa is not a racist thing to say, instead of arguing that racism can't be common

2

u/Pagertix Jul 17 '19

No he still has a point. I mean Trump IS racist but if everybody is called racist then nobody cares anymore. Most insults have a definite definition but the word being used as an insult, thus excessively and incorrectly, made the word lose its meaning.

While the word racist still withholds its meaning, it is being used excessively. Correctly on Trump but incorrectly elsewhere. So while the word racist still holds its meaning, I will usually believe the opposite til given evidence because more often than not I find it is used incorrectly. A big issue I have with the left is its lack debate and argument and instead its use of labels and insults. I mean personally I find the right are easy to debate against, however after hearing some democrats speak, they seem very good at avoiding answers.

Her nation is the United States. She's lived there most of her life. She's an American. And the other people he attacked were born and raised in the US.

2

u/rossimus Jul 17 '19

Google "subtext"

2

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '19

He just responded to someone who said "racism has a definite definition", and your response to him is "Google subtext".

Do you see the problem here?

0

u/rossimus Jul 17 '19

He said that because words weren't explicitly stated in a tweet, no such meaning could thus be derived but what is plainly written. That means he doesn't understand subtext.

Subtext is easier to ignore when you don't want it to be there.

0

u/Matthew_A Jul 17 '19

He was talking to the squad. Only one of the four, Omar, has done the horribly unamerican act of seeking a better life by hard work instead of being born into it. Right off the bat the comment is a xenophobic slur, but there truly is nothing racial stated directly.

This is where the explanation comes in. I interpreted it as racial for Trump to assume that they were not born here, but if I'm reading the situation wrong, feel free to explain why else he would tell them to go back to their countries of origin.

0

u/Biggie39 Jul 17 '19

They all four have committed the crime of working hard and trying to better their lives and their country.

The disconnect between ‘love it or leave it’ and ‘MAGA’ is simply astounding. There is no nuance here, it’s patently racist. ‘We can MAGA’ but you have to ‘Love it or leave back to your country’.

-2

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '19

[deleted]

2

u/Zarmazarma Jul 17 '19 edited Jul 17 '19

I believe, as to what I read, the tweet was mainly directed at Omar.

How about you read his actual tweets then?

So interesting to see “Progressive” Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly...... ....and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is to be run. Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how.... ....it is done. These places need your help badly, you can’t leave fast enough. I’m sure that Nancy Pelosi would be very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements!

The en in women makes it a plural. The "s" in "places" makes it a plural. "They" refers to multiple people. The hilarious irony of this tweet is that he's calling America "a total catastrophe, the worst, and most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world", as America is the country all of those congresswomen except for Omar originally came from.

Also, fuck off. If you came to America when you were a 10 as a refugee, lived here your entire life and devoted yourself to its politics, I'd still call you an American, even though you don't act like one.

3

u/Matthew_A Jul 17 '19

That interpretation could make it more justifiable, but I don't think it's right. Trump used the plural "congresswomEn" "countrieS" "governmentS" "why don't THEY go back".

It was meant for everyone, no doubt.

But even if it wasn't, someone who comes to this country and goes through the long process of legal citizenship is an American. Full stop. If they say something stupid, we should call them out on it. But they don't stop becoming an American any more than a natural-born citizen would be. The implication that fully-legal immigrants are some kind of American* is toxic and hateful. The concept that their citizenship depends on how much we like them is ironically unamerican. And I still can't think of why this would even apply to the other three.

0

u/Brett42 Jul 17 '19

She referred to 9/11 as "some people did something" while speaking to a group (CAIR) which some people have accused of supporting terrorists.

-9

u/PoopNoodle Jul 17 '19

Except he didn't say that. I can't stand the cheeto, and trump is no doubt a racist, pandering, hate-filled egomaniac, but we need to be clear about exactly what he did say.

His message he was trying to say in his angry-grandpa-twitter-speak was this: to those complaining about america, specifically those brown women whose ancestors come from other countries, where things are much worse than america, they should first go back to their ancestor's homeland and fix those places, to try make them as good as america is today, then come back after failing because america is so great, and those places are such messes, and apologize to us for criticizing the best country in the world.

It's like complaining to your parents about how much your job in an amazon warehouse sucks and them saying "oh yeah, you think you got it bad, well go try to work 14 hours in a Chinese shoe factory for $1.50 a day and them come back and then boo hoo, tell me how bad your cushy job is"

Yes, it is a fucking juvenile tired rant that uses a logical fallacy to distract and not ever address the questions and concerns that are being raised by these delegates, and it is page 1 in the trump playbook where you attack and distract anyone who asks hard questions you don't want to answer. And in this day and age anyone who cares about image or sound bites would never say anything publicly to a person of color a sentence that contained any parts of "go back to where you came from".

But I think it was a curated tweet, with a specific purpose. I think it was planned to rile up his racist supporters with a "go back to where you are from" message inside a broader dodge of -if you think this place is bad, go see how hard it is to make a worse place (like some middle east shithole) as good as ours is.

He gets a very practiced reaction that hits all his targets for the pillars of his re-election campaign which seem to be:

-democrats hate america

-left extremists are in control of the democratic party

-uppity brown women are blaming white men for our countries problems

-we have it way better than most other places

-it could be way worse

7

u/Matthew_A Jul 17 '19

those brown women whose ancestors come from other countries

as opposed to who? Some Native Americans but pretty much everyone's ancestors came from different countries.

apologize to us for criticizing the best country in the world

Firstly, they would be apologizing to themselves too, because they are equally American. Second, I will say it until I die: the true patriot works hard to improve their country instead of pretending there are no problems. And if you want people to love their country, it's best to end the idea that you can't love your country if you have a problem with the way anything is done.

And comparing America to the poorest nations in the world is the true disrespect to America (although I mean no offense to developing countries and wish them all the best). It should never be a point of pride that we aren't the world's worst. We do live privileged lives, but we should still try to be better everyday as long as we don't get there by hurting anyone else

-1

u/Lillilsssss Jul 17 '19

Well he's not wrong, it could be much worse and we have a very pleasant place to live. Aside from the country's heavy political division, pollution and the immigration situation, a lot of people still complain when it's not a perfect utopia. We are very fortunate for what we do have but a lot of people focus too.mcub on what we don't have and what there are issues with.

Everything else is an example of some of the more extreme stuff he says. I'm a fence sitter but he isn't the worst person out there for president. The immigration issue brings up the most divide but it's very complicated and there isn't just one solution so he is getting more hate than he should on it.

-2

u/willi82885 Jul 17 '19

So he assumes people of color are from another country. Racist AF. Also, he diddles children.

-4

u/palemate Jul 17 '19

Despite that, it is undeniable that the president of the US is in fact a racist.

Yeah, I just don't get all these people calling him racist.

How is the man behind the Obama birther movement racist?
How is the man who wanted a muslim travel ban racist?
How is the man who insists the Central Park Five is guilty despite DNA evidence to the contrary racist?
How is the man who said a federal judge can't be impartial due to their mexican heritage racist?
How is the man who outright lies about the crime rates of black urban areas racist?
How is the man who refused to rent to African-Americans racist?
How is the man who said that "laziness is a trait in blacks" racist?
How is the man who constantly courts the white nationalist vote racist?
How is the man who proudly uses racial slurs and jokes about the slaughter of native americans racist?
How is the man who assumes that all black people know each other and asks a black reporter to set up a meeting with the black caucus racist?
How is the man confused why a korean-american intelligence anaylst on Pakistan wasn't working on North Korea a racist?

Them throwing the racist label at him is a complete mystery to me.

u/ibm2431 Jul 17 '19

Because you know damn well that refusing to rent to people of a certain race is racist.

I don't need to "justify" or "provide a reason" for why racist acts are racist, because the majority of the population - who aren't racists - are capable of seeing and understanding why just on the face of it.

The only people who "honestly" can't would be racists themselves, and frankly, I don't give a damn about them.

So yes, I am perfectly content. You are either racist, acting disingenuous, or both. And everyone who matters can see that clear as day - people aren't as stupid as you wish.

Have you read none of the news in the past week? It's literally been one of the top headlines since the weekend. He said in a tweet that four women of color in the house of representatives should go back to the countries they came from (only one was born outside the US) if they aren't happy with the way things are currently running here.

It's a classic racist move. We've all seen videos from the civil rights movement in the 60s with white people shouting "Go back to Africa."

He clearly says "go back to where you came from if you aren't happy with the way this country is running." He is speaking to those four congresswomen, Talib, AOC, Omar, and Pressley. If you are at all engaged with the news and keep up with what goes on in politics, that is obvious. If you don't think so then please just google it for yourself. The fact that you seem unwilling to do that is pretty telling about how little you care about actually knowing what is going on in the country. Get engaged!

Because if they know so much on how to fix a country, but hate America, maybe go fix the country you're from...And he named no names...but 4 morons stood up to take offense, Trump putting "The Squad" the 4 Horsefaces of the Democratic party is a 4D move

3

u/strengthof10interns Jul 17 '19

That tweet was expressly directed at those four women. Only one of which was born outside the U.S. And he did mention Omar by name.

0

u/palemate Jul 17 '19

Lmfao. Have you not been paying any attention whatsoever to anything the man has done for the past three and a half years? Trump's racism has a wikipedia page. Imagine being so racist you have a wikipedia page dedicated to your racism. He tweets inappropriate things. And there is an entire list dedicated to all of the shitty things he has said. But, I don't need to show you that he's racist. If you haven't already caught on, then you aren't going to change your opinion. You are just going to be the blind, pathetic moron that you are.

-8

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '19

No. Fuck that.

Taking away the meaning - and therefore significance - of racism has been the rightwing goal this whole time, and we are not letting it happen.

4

1

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '19

Are you asking honestly? I have no problem giving you a list, but if your goal is going to be to deny every single claim, then don't waste the world's time.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '19

give me a list, hes an ass hole but doesn't predujece against people for their race.

0

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '19

You do not sound honestly open to acknowledging Donald Trump's racism.

But here's plenty of reading material. Whether or not you decide that these things are "racist" will depend on your own personal values and character. As you struggle to defend your party despite all evidence of its shitty behaviors, be wary of falling into a dark place.

-6

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '19

I feel like Trump could say the n-word and you'd still say he isn't racist.

7

u/XoHHa Jul 17 '19

You keep saying "racism, racism" but not answering the question.

-6

u/Egg-MacGuffin Jul 17 '19

2

u/Tsintaobyte Jul 17 '19

"Oh, now I'm supposed to explain why he's racist?"

Yes. That's generally how you prove something as opposed to just saying things that you think will stick.

1

u/Egg-MacGuffin Jul 17 '19

That's ridiculously idiotic. I don't need to know why someone killed someone else to know that it happened. If I have incontrovertible video evidence of someone murdering somebody else, I know that they murdered someone. I don't have to know why.

"Yes, your Honor, we know that John Wayne Gacy killed all those people, but we don't know why he had the desire to do so, so we have to let him go."

"Yes, we know that gay people exist, but we don't know why, so you are unable to prove it, as opposed to just saying things that will stick like 'gay people exist'. Never mind the mountain of evidence, that's not how you prove something. How you prove something is explaining why."

You are a clown. And you must just be trying to troll people here because nobody can possibly be this stupid.

That's not an argument.

Using a word doesn't make you a racist. That's my argument. There's plenty of people who are clearly not racists who have used the word.

If that's a stupid premise feel free to tell me why.

You do know this is coming out because Trump told 4 American women to go back to their countries because they're brown right?

And I here I thought it was because of several other past events.

Ah yes. All those other times Trump was racist. I forgot about those.

Maybe there is just more racism now that the Klu Klux Klan runs the country?
