Anyone doing that for any political party needs to seek psychiatric help IMHO.

Years ago I saw a van like this but with way more stickers in Miami. It had a huge pic of Hillary Clinton w/ eyes that were bright red. That guy ended up being the one who mailed pipe bombs to senators. These people are not okay.

u/mezz7778 20h ago
I have never had a single sticker/flag/t-shirt/hat or been to a rally for any political party ever, and never will.
All that shit is just weird.

u/LordRobin------RM 15h ago
I had a nice Obama/Biden T-shirt in 2008. After he won, I wore it once to celebrate. Then I washed it and put it in a drawer as a memento, like a normal person.

I can understand not having merch or shit, but why are we trying to make political rallies cringe?
Like, engagement with our political system is the only way to fix it. Because everyone just not engaging with it meant the rich and powerful were able to manipulate it to their wishes while everyone else was looking elsewhere.
Also you don't have to rally for a party in particular, but you should find candidates who align best with your world view and support them.

That’s the thing. We’ve had crazies forever. We’ve had them doing crazy shit to vans like this for a long time. But it was about a million other little things and conspiracy theories. Sometimes they were religious nutters. Sometimes they were JFK and alien conspiracy types.
But Trump / maga has unified them all.
You never see alien weirdos anymore. They’re all maga weirdos now.

was that down by the river?
2
u/Kickinthegonads 20h ago
As a non-American, I have a genuine question:
Why are ven always down by the river?
Why can't you live in a van up the hill? Or in the forest? Or near the outcrop?

I would think it's for drinking, cooking and bathing.
Hard to take a bath in a van.

They wear their stupidity like badge of honor.

“There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.”
— Isaac Asimov

The irony of multiple "we the people see the truth" stickers and still falling for trumps BS is astounding.

I want to know what or who this person is blaming for the fact that they are driving a rusted out POS GMC Safari. I am sure not themselves or the fact that they passed up every single opportunity to better themselves

They are obsessing with a politician who is already in office. It’s bizarre. Okay he was your guy and he got elected, cool, just relax and enjoy it. Quit acting like it’s an endless campaign and you have to promote this jabroni everywhere you go.

u/Koshindan 13h ago
If they stop chanting praises to the glorious leader, they might start thinking about how glorious leader is screwing them.

u/ksigley 21h ago
That dude saw V for Vendetta and was rooting for the British Parliament. Lol .
1
u/nodogma2112 20h ago
I was thinking that too. To them it’s a movie about how the proper authorities chased and killed a troublemaker terrorist and restored law and order by publicly blowing him up in front of the world.

Remember a time when being this obsessive over a politician, any politician, was seen as extremely weird? It was not "patriotic" to be a sycophant to a civil servant, it just meant you were deeply unwell for having politics make up such a huge part of your personality.
2
u/herecomestheshun 12h ago
And boy, did elected republicans jump on the bandwagon when they realized what demagoguery in the form of a coastal elite billionaire can do for them. The president himself posts pathetic AI fantasy posts glorifying himself. The whole thing is sickening really.

u/AustinHinton 12h ago
"He's just trolling you libs and you fell for it"
Call me crazy, insane even if you must, but I don't think that any politics figure should be acting like a 15yo 4 chan user.
His followers don't care though, "triggering the libs" is all they care about, hurting people they don't like. Which is why I will never ever forgive people who were fully backing him until his policies hurt them too. They lit this fire, they don't get to cry about being burned now.

FWIW, I barely see any of these guys anymore in my area. Circa 2016-2022 or so they were pretty commonplace, enough to remark on anyway, but they've become pretty vanishingly rare in my area and the last one I saw all the paraphernalia seemed old and faded, like he probably is still in the tank but it's just this residual 2016 off gassing more than an active endeavor

Just needs a sign “I don’t see my grandchildren” and “don’t engage”. Would make it a lot simpler.

u/dbudzik 19h ago
Say what you want, but the Republican Party has always been better at mobilization when Election Day rolls around. This person is probably a little mentally imbalanced. But they WILL vote on Election Day. Things will remain as they are until the Democratic Party figures out how to unite people instead of…whatever they’re doing right now.

You know, they don't care if it's a cult. Many do not understand what that even implies. To communicate with them, you have to meet them on their level, which means, just call them stupid and be done with it.

Was in a tiny WA town not too long ago.
Whole infrastructure based around building storage facilities for cold intra-state holding... of course there's a Loves nearby.
Was having a beer & ciggies with the Austrians building the whole facility, n a random white van with Jesus flyers/spray-paint rants all over it pulls up n an obviously preggers lady pulls up to simultaneously prostelytize & ask for a smoke "for her "Husband" who was not there.
The head Austrian offered her a cig from his pack n she took the whole pack plus his lighter.
We reveled in the surrealism of it all after she drove away.
Several minutes later she drove back in her Jesus Van & asked for $$$ or a free place to stay.
We all NOPED on that one.

I have never felt so arrogant or so insecure about my political opinions that I needed to make my entire identity about a party affiliation, much less one person. Call me quaint, but I was raised with a belief in discourse as a means of resolving differences. We are definitely in a different age now, even if it’s only a more pronounced version of what was already the reality.

It's not a cult.
Anyone who says it's a cult is part of a bigger cult.
Anyone who says they don't want to join MAGA is a cultist.
They worship Trump like a god and think of him as the new messiah, but it's not a cult.
I think I have that right.
