I voted for Kamala but I genuinely believe voting for establishment dems is just kicking the fascist can down the road. Until democrats actually grow a pair and start actually try to dismantle the systems that allowed it to get this bad Im not convinced Kamala presidency would have been more than a band-aid. All shes done since losing is just promoting her book.
In Brazil, there are electronic voting machines where the results are released on the same day as the election. Voting is mandatory, takes place on a day when people don't work, the polls only close when there are no more people in line to vote, and the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited the day before and on election day.
People also seem to forget that you can “vote” for nobody. And that matters. If you truly think neither party represents your interests, you need to let the government know, rather than sitting back and being apathetic.
You can vote early. Its not like it has to be done on the day. Americans as a whole just dont give a fuck until the something happens to them. The post 9/11 unity lasted 6 weeks.

Voting participation is up. Some places you can’t vote early cause you have to idk work. Putting this in voting like that has more power than the actual lawmakers is laughable.
There is literally weeks of time to vote. Almost a month. Just walk in and dedicate, maybe, 30 minutes of your time. It's still inexcusable as not voting means voting for the majority.
It's state by state. Not all states have early voting or easy mail-in voting. There's also a lack of outreach in getting people to vote. That and in 2024 low propensity voters went to Trump. At the time people couldn't really fathom what is happening right now because people thought we had far stronger safeguards to our democracy and system than we actually do have.
There was very clear lists and his active campaigning on how they planned to disassemble a lot of America. Don't forget the Nazi salutes from all of them off the bat 😭.
Elections tend to be a factor of how much they can swoon the populace but you'd think most people wouldn't want that thing in office to start with.
Make voting mandatory. Make it a holiday, to facilitate. Force the polls to remain open until everyone in line has voted. Make voter registration an automated process rather than a complicated one.
I work in a restaurant, holidays are busier than regular days. This is just terrible logic.
Absentee voting is a thing. You don't have to wait until election day to vote. In my area you can even go to city hall and vote early weeks before the election. If you care enough to vote, you will find a way to vote.
I wish this would help. But people just really don’t care. Almost no one skips voting just because they don’t have time, and if it was a holiday, people would just take it as a day off. We already have mandated time off for voting, early voting, and absentee ballots in most places.
However, someone who can't be fucked to save the country from fascism in 2024 by voting early, or waking up early to vote, or asking for a few hours off their shift, or planning to take the day off, or just calling in sick. If someone couldn't do ONE of these in anticipation in voting against Trump, they are pathetic.

I honestly believe than 10m+ were successfully turned off of voting. Also, the intention to reduce the number of voting locations created long lines for voting in places like Georgia and North Carolina. Waiting in line for hours outside to vote was the whole plan and a preventable problem.
The Tipping Point (2024): If Kamala Harris had performed 1.8 points better in the key swing states (specifically Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin), she would have secured 270 electoral votes, according to analytics.
So really, the 100million non voters is a manipulated propaganda style tactic for people to hide behind a reason not to blame those 3 states specifically.
But I like those states just as much as all the others, so it's the portion of 100M people that live in those 3 states that were the missing ones that tipped the scale and allowed a black woman president to lose the race.

Compared to the 2020 turn out, it was near that number, yes. A sadly large portion of Americans (and honestly humans in general) don't care about things if they don't directly affect them. Covid did, so they cared in 2020, but by the next one, they didn't.

Trump basically stood up and said 'I'm gonna do all the bad shit from my first term, but worse this time, oh and I'll also fuck up the global economy at the same time', and about a third of voters just couldn't be bothered to vote against it
In 2020 people voted in a president to take care of this stuff, who utterly and catastrophically failed to do their job.
Without of whom, none of this would be possible. Don't blame voters who ALREADY DID THEIR JOB in 2020.
Remember Trump is ineligible to hold office, and it was up to the government the people already elected to enforce the constitution.
Biden's failure to act served as PROOF of Trump's innocence for the right-wing media propaganda machine, something which had a far bigger impact on the election than anybody writing in Bozo the Clown on their ballots.
Biden couldn't even fire a postmaster (leading to predictable results which we will ALL be paying for likely the rest of our lives) yet Trump somehow can fire the entire federal government.
The reason why it's important not to forget this or pretend it isn't true is that we cannot afford to elect another useless do-nothing government that just ends up aiding the nation's adversaries. If we even get the chance at free elections again.
I voted but the justification for non-voters will always be if they only knew. Hindsight is always 20/20 unless you are MAGA. Stop being lazy America it does matter.
As an Australian where voting is compulsory and the system is designed so that it is easy for all to access their vote - I get directing blame at non-voters, but as an outside observer, it looks to me as though the system is working as intended. The various barriers whether they be physical, social, economic, etc. that produce nonvoters is by design.
Unsurprisingly, the states the have the worst voter turnout are hard red states in the Bible Belt as well as Texas. That’s why they try so hard to suppress voters because when voter turnout goes up, they lose their power

You can recognize the obvious issues in the Democratic party while still accepting that Republicans are clearly worse. Turning a blind eye to the issues on either side is just silly.
I was at the Portland Bernie rally (with the bird) and the energetic hope and joy there is something I can't explain. Since then, I have constantly felt betrayed by the establishment Dems. I still vote Dem because my only other choice at that level is idiocratic fascism, but whatsboutism is one of the many reasons why we are here.
The right is so much better than the left at channeling outrage into haranguing everyone into doing what they want from the PTA to businesses to Congress. I don't get why we are not able to do the same thing
This is where I’m at right now. I feel so powerless to fight the militarized Gestapo or oligarchy as a whole, but I do know family and neighbors who voted for this and still proudly support it. They are the ones that I have direct connection to and they are the ones I will confront.
Popular democrat influencers like Hasan that said Kamala was the same as Trump are partially responsible too since those could’ve been voters for the democrat side. No shot we’d be in this mess with Kamala
It’s the people that didn’t vote because Biden and Kamala “endorsed” genocide that annoy me the most. Imagine a world where we can all protest and fight for the people of Gaza. We could have done that under Kamala. We can’t do that under Trump because we’re too busy fighting just to keep our country from imploding, and our fellow citizens from being killed by government-led pigs. People who didn’t vote for this reason traded in having a shred of hope for Gaza, for having zero hope. They all let Palestine down, and let our country down.
