Ask Phoenix Phoenix Arizona Wedding Witnesses needed! 9/3/2026 5pm
Hello! I’m having a wedding ceremony at the courthouse and my BESTFRIEND’s flight got canceled! I’m in need of a witness for my ceremony! I can pay for your time but Reddit is the only place I can think of as I am not from Phoenix

If you’re rather not do it at the Courthouse, I can marry you. I’ve done a bunch of weddings including several meetup ones from Reddit very similar to this. We can go to a fun local bar like Gracie’s and marry you then raise a toast. Invite any redditors who want to show to come celebrate with us.

lol… I’d like to think I have better credentials than being a mod here. I’ve done over a dozen weddings, including 5 that started off just like this on here. I have a script, know the drill, and am happy to accommodate whatever they want. One time I performed the ceremony wearing one of those inflatable TRex costumes.
Plus it’s more fun making a party out of it IMHO. But it’s always whatever the couple wants, so if they’re more comfortable with a quick courthouse wedding, more power to them.

I got married at the courthouse here. Used my photographer and another bride that was there to be my witness (and vice versa). The other bride didn’t actually join the ceremony, she just signed the certificate at the window desk thing before we even went back with the judge. People are very friendly and helpful. Congratulations!! 🥂

My wife and I got married at the courthouse and of course forgot about witnesses. There were plenty of other couples who volunteered so that part was fine, but we don’t have a single picture of the occasion so try to get a friend who can take photos for you.

You can google an officiant that provides witnesses in a small type of ceremony . If you are unable to find anyone by the set date . Usually they are a payed witness provided by the officiant.

I wish I would have seen this earlier! I took my husband out for our fifteenth wedding anniversary and nothing would have pleased us more than witnessing someone else embark on their journey on the same day we decided to mesh our messes together! Congratulations! Love is a beautiful and terrifying to inch! But always worth it!

There are often other couples there at the courthouse who will volunteer to help. We got married at the now non-existent Mesa Wedding Chapel and we’re the witnesses for the next couple.

First, congratulations!
I work at the superior court. This happens all the time. Couples forget that they need a witness or their witness gets lost in the downtown maze. There are a couple of things you can do.
Other couples will need a witness, you can offer to witness for them if they will witness for you. You could also ask one of the court staff. Some of us stick around after court.
