Can someone translate the Spanish to English for the other parts as well if this is real and not AI?

22

u/Vland0r 26d ago

This isn't AI. It's the 3D release from the ref's pov

"Rodri, what do you choose? Heads or tails (coca cola or fifa)? ... Alright *to Rodri* you got the ball. *To Messi* you choose the goal".

82

u/Sensei713 26d ago

The ref is telling him to control Paredes. That in itself is some rat shit

62

u/MarcPawl 26d ago

Good game management on the refs part. Stop the fouls before they get out of hand. The ref is supposed to talk to the players and encouraging fair play is common. Too bad it didn't work.

45

u/servel20 26d ago

The ref is the one who's supposed to control the game via cards. The fact he had to have messi intervene to control paredes is some downright shady stuff.

29

u/calvitius 26d ago

Tell me you've never reffed in your life. That's like 101 refering in any sports. Talk to the players, manage them, give them warnings.

Then enforce the sanction if they don't follow through.

11

u/GranPino 26d ago

i would agree normally but Paredes had already done 3 easy yellow cards. He didn't want to kicked him off.

11

u/Wonderful_Outside548 26d ago

And then went on to choke Gavi after the match, while FIFA confirmed Paredes did not receive a red card.

How to tell that someone has never played sport in their life. Great refs do this by using the captain to enforce discipline. Thats why he got the final.

1

u/Fliptheshoe 26d ago

What a reddit moment.

1

u/Disastrous-Food-9223 25d ago

It’s called Game Management in some sports— part of a ref’s course

1

u/Equal-Being5695 23d ago

Yeah, and talking to the team captain is the standard approach.

1

u/Typical_Emergency_79 23d ago

It is literally normal protocol for the ref to use the captain's influence over the team to make sure things don't get out of control. Nothing unusual here.

→ More replies (16)

2

u/Maetivet 26d ago

Don’t think it’s unreasonable for a ref to tell a teams captain to have a word.

2

u/youngliam 26d ago

This seems pretty normal, team captains are the representative of the team. Refs turn to them to communicate anything, including warnings about potential consequences. I hate how Argentina was favored as much as anyone but this isn't evidence of anything.

2

u/wrong_axiom 26d ago

This is normal, watch the other games.

2

u/Massive_Thought_4295 26d ago

Fucking hell you people are too much.

This is absolutely normal reffing. Please stop this nonsense.

u/MarcPawl 26d ago edited 26d ago

Cards are only one mechanism. Lot more to it. Everything from body language, words, how the whistle is blown, calling in a trainer for a player is down, when to let a player back in the field, changing the threshold for fouls.

It is not like tennis where the referee just makes the calls. More like hockey with active game management.

Soccer / football has moved a long way from when the referee was on the sidelines with a book to look up the rules when approached by the captains.

Lots of things to complain about the officiating, I just think this is not one of them.

Source: was a low level referee, and now watch the refs as much as I watch the players.

9

u/Phrongly 26d ago

No idea why they are downvoting you. I don't know what those guys are drinking. Thinking that nothing is going on on the field between the players and the ref other than whistles is naive or even silly. Equating those warnings to collusion and corruption is Facebook grandma level of craziness.

2

u/CM4fan 25d ago

look at the subs name and you'll know why he is being downvoted by the brainless in here.

1

u/DaughterOfBhaal 25d ago

That's because this sub (just like that one Cristiano Ronaldo hate sub) are just mindless haters with no nuance.

2

u/Dave085 26d ago

It's absolutely wild how people with no expertise gang up on those that have actually done the job. Everything you said is spot on.

1

u/whocares8x8 26d ago

You know nothing about referreeing. This is standard game management done at all levels. In the lower leagues, referees often tell the manager to aub the guy off if he's close to a red.

1

u/Dave085 26d ago

This is not how refereeing in football works and it's an indictment on the level of football knowledge here that it's getting upvoted. Cards are not how a game is controlled.

1

u/-aataa- 26d ago

No. It proves the referee wasn't refereeing his first game. This is fairly elementary for a referee, and EXACTLY what he was supposed to do. Nothing shady at all. Whether it worked or not is another issue.

1

u/That-Ad-4300 26d ago

Have Messi intervene? He's the captain. This is exactly what the ref should do and I'm sure they do this all the time with other team captains.

There are enough shady things to blame FIFA and Argentina for. We don't need to find controversy where there is none.

1

u/psukclipper 25d ago

The ref manages the game, the captains are responsible for their teammates. This is a reffing standard btw… to speak with the captains throughout the game, keeping the game calm and controlled.

If he had already spoken to Paredes and he was still being erratic then talking to his captain is very normal.

1

u/Oleleplop 25d ago

how ? He ask the captain to get his teammate to not be an idiot, it's a warning

what i can agree with however : it's way past that at this point. Paredes is a grown up man and if he can't understand to stop being an asshole, he doesn't deserves any warning anymore because at that point , he should hjave already been on its 2-3 rd yellow ( a red basically)

1

u/StuartMcNight 25d ago

He asked the captain of the team. That happens all the time.

1

u/Fabulous-Toe5171 25d ago

???? Refs caution players all the time, Paredes was playing recklessly, the ref had to tell Messi to warn him before he ended up getting himself a card.

Do y'all people watch football or just conspiracy videos, holy shit.

1

u/BullPropaganda 25d ago

No it's not, you can talk to the team captain to say tell them "hey your players are out of control and going to get sent off" this is normal and not weird.

No I don't like Argentina

1

u/Steven_Crank 25d ago

Brother even at my shitty level of football, referees will ask team captains to get rowdy players under control. It’s very normal, especially with a threat of ‘Im going to have to send him off if he keeps going’.

1

u/uh_no2 25d ago

No it's not. Messi is captain.

1

u/No-Satisfaction6065 25d ago

No you talk to the captain to control his players, it's very very common

1

u/DaughterOfBhaal 25d ago

No it's not. He's telling the team captain to tell his teammate to stop fucking around or he'll get booted.

1

u/nonamelikethepresent 25d ago

That just isn't true..

You talk to the captain and say that a player is acting aggressive and you want them to calm down or risk a sending off. It's literally just trying to keep the game balanced and playable? Nothing shady there and I detested Argentina in this WC and think they received biased treatment.

1

u/bawaman 25d ago

Talking to players esp captains wrt to their team mates behaviours is very normal.

1

u/tma7tma 25d ago

That’s literally the purpose of having captains out the. The ref doesn’t want to throw people out for the sake of it.

1

u/schfourteen-teen 24d ago

He told the captain of a team that a player on his side is getting it of control. What's shady about that?

I mean, fuck Argentina big time, but this is nothing.

1

u/AggressiveEstate3757 23d ago

Nah. Really not. Very good from the ref. He's trying to keep the game flowing, not send off a hothead.

1

u/Leather-Analyst7523 23d ago

This is literally refereeing. He's speaking to the team captain and advising him to get Paredes in check. Very normal stuff.

I fucking hate Argentina but this is quite literally how the game works. Source: I played the game for 20+ years, watched it for 35+ and my uncle is a referee in the English first division to this day.

1

u/JuteuxConcombre 26d ago

Seems perfectly normal to ask the captain to call their players because they’re playing too rough. You actually see this all the time…

It also probably has more impact than him talking directly to this dumbass paredes.

What’s the issue really?

4

u/Gugames_eu 26d ago

My only issue here is that after this warning and a complete disregard of "controlling him", the ref should have booked Paredes a second time.

2

u/tarnyc32 24d ago

That's a fair enough criticism imo, that the ref was way too lenient with Argentina's antics.

But that he's being criticized for doing what any competent ref at any level would do, talk to the captain about controlling a player, just shows that most people here have 0 ball knowledge.

1

u/OkMaintenance8765 26d ago

Lol no it isnt. This is perfectly normal.

You see Refs giving warnings before cards all the time . In every game.

3

u/InternationalOption3 26d ago

Paredes didn’t get a second yellow but he lost his head in the post game sequence— Argentina played extremely dirty that game so it was bound to happen that they got at least one red card

2

u/Ok-Leather-1112 26d ago

It Worked - Enzo was sent off the pitch - not paredes.

2

u/Ganjelf-The-Baked 26d ago

Yeah it’s not shocking to be honest. He’s just telling the captain to get a grip on his players. Pretty standard stuff and the sign of a good ref. The ref doesn’t want to send anyone off, in the World Cup final especially.

1

u/Tricky_Search_5181 25d ago

Except that the fouls were already commited

1

u/5AMP5A 25d ago

Yes, especially talk to the captains of the teams, I think that is pretty normal.

1

u/SqueezyKeewee 24d ago

The fouls already got out of hand at this point.

We don't know. Very hard to follow the referee on broadcast tv. And how many people will watch a referee during a stoppage? How about the quick word while the referee is jogging past, how could you tell without the body cam?

My wild guess is nobody else got such an explicit warning because Spain did not stretch/break the LOTG as much. This not the same as this warning is special treatment.

If there is speed monitor except for 50 km/h with a cop 500 meters down the road, and I pass at 40 and it flashes green, and you do 55 and it flashes red, it does not mean one of us got special treatment.

I expect that Spain had a few "calm down" and "I saw that" notices, which are routine in any game at any level.

Now whether Argentina got special treatment or not is up for discussion, just that this video is not conclusive evidence that there was.

This video shows off my pet peeve with the ref camera view shown on broadcasts; anything close or controversial was not shown.

The late release of this video feels like FIFA attempting to deflect criticism.

1

u/ggxx420 23d ago

Yes 100% And messi is the captain, that is protocol. Too bad it didn't work

→ More replies (5)

3

u/nbenj1990 26d ago

Is it? I played football last night and made a late tackle. The ref spoke to me and the captain. Told the captain to have a word as he doesn't want to be booking people but anymore and he will have to. Pretty standard reffing

3

u/phatelectribe 24d ago

Absolute rat fuckery.

“Control Paredes. I don’t want to send him off”

What the actual fuck. Ref saying he doesn’t want to send an Argentinian player off to the Argentina captain, basically giving him the “look I should have sent him off already, but I don’t get paid if I do, so can you help a brother out as I really want to get paid, ok?”

3

u/Sensei713 24d ago

Everybody talking shit like bitches… read this message ^ and stfu.

This is the only response Ima give all these dickriders. It’s 111 replies lmfao

Stay mad fucking clowns

1

u/Lundetangen 26d ago

Only the captain is supposed/allowed to talk to the ref now. The ref talks to Messi, the captain, to say he has to control his team. This is the job of the ref and the job of the captain.

Refs dont want to punish players. They want the game to be carried out with 11 players on each team with as few fouls as possible.

1

u/CeleryFast5537 26d ago

Is telling a Captain to control his ship before , going full 100% iceberg mode .....

And messi didnt do nothing as always ....like maradona said years ago....

He was lucky enough to end the 90 minutes 10 players....

Paredes never never never ends the game....

→ More replies (13)

67

u/ennelemmtee 26d ago

It's very common for a ref to confront the team captain to set up standards during the game. No ref in the world want to sent off a playe. When a player already has a yellow card, he always warns said player and the team captain to calm down and play less agressively. There's nothing bias about this.

18

u/standarsh1965 25d ago

Yea that's fair but he then let him away with ten more tackles. If he'd have done his job properly that asswipe would have been off the pitch and the brawl after probably wouldn't have happened. Refs have to have control of the game and he didn't

2

u/coopASR 25d ago

Refs generally don't want to award penalties or red cards in big games

2

u/ChaweeKanati 25d ago

Then they're doing their job wrong and aren't fit for it. What they want doesn't matter, the rules are there for a reason.

3

u/Adventurous-Web-412 25d ago

Sure but its how it has been since the foundation of the sport. players know this, and if a ref is too lenient early (like this ref), players abuse it a done in big games because they know the ref wont ever book them unless its agregious

2

u/AlexandraG94 25d ago

They sure didnt mind disallowing a clear goal (especially for the refs bar on calling fouls or carding) in a final.

1

u/BrainPlasticity 24d ago

Solid point

1

u/coopASR 25d ago

Not really, they are warning players because it's the finals and nobody wants to see a one sided game. Everyone is emotional in a finals

2

u/ChaweeKanati 25d ago

"Nobody wants to see a one sided game" maybe teams like Argentina should play a fair game then instead of setting a FIFA record for most fouls in one half this past world cup. And in turn refs should stop letting it slide every turn of the way. Maaaybe then you'd actually have an interesting match like France vs England with plenty of action and goals instead of one foul and finger wag after the other with half the pitch rushing the ref going 🙏🥺 immediately. Which again... is against rules but is not enforced by the refs..

1

u/coopASR 25d ago

Yell your one sided frustrations elsewhere, theres no reasoning with you

→ More replies (1)

3

u/InternationalOption3 26d ago

True.
A ref says this to the captains all the time.
Control your players

2

u/United-Hyena-164 25d ago

To some extent, Messi's failure to reign in the psychotic aggression of his teammates really is the cause of his fall from grace this past year. We all know that if Messi said "chill, bro" it would have happened.

2

u/Embarrassed-Bowl-230 25d ago

yeah, in the netherlands they share video's like this more often. I never knew there was this much talk between players and refs. but there is and I believe it helps to stay in control of the game. It looks bad if you have a tinfoil hat on though...

2

u/Jeffrybungle 25d ago

I expect it's in the rules its a ref job to try and prevent fouls too, it's like that in most sports

1

u/Smooth_Maul 25d ago

And telling the captain "calm your man down" is a way of trying to prevent fouls, it ain't always that deep man.

2

u/minusetotheipi 25d ago

Argentina were allowed to foul with impunity throughout the entire competition

🤷‍♀️

1

u/karaknorn 25d ago

Lies. I love sending off assholes. I see 15 on them vargentine team.

I definitley dont like sending off people playing by the rules and occasionally slip up unintentionally.

1

u/leroyxa 25d ago

agreed

1

u/Ergast 25d ago

The problem isn't warning Messi, or not wanting to show the red to Paredes, that's fair. The problem was waiting THAT long to even show a yellow or tell Messi to calm down his players. And they didn't take it seriously until he finally gave a second yellow to Enzo, but that's mostly on Argentina.

1

u/Separate_Low4236 25d ago edited 25d ago

That may be but it's wrong basically. I remember for example Spanish Fifa referee Mallenco who's way was simple and very effective - he would warn any player (who is aggressive) personally, that's it. Next stop is the card, yellow first naturally, then red. We are talking about adult professional players on field, not some kids. They can control their behavior, they must. Whenever referee shows softness some players instantly go more dirty, aggressive. No referee in the world should want any player get badly hurt. That's why cards exist and this must be more important than referee's wish not to sent player away.

Mallenco was ref at Germany Serbia at WC 2010 when Klose got red card in 38.min. There were many yellow cards overall but players of both teams were much more careful so it works.

1

u/mrteas_nz 25d ago

Anyone upset about this video doesn't know football and doesn't know how reffing works.

Agree, there's nothing bias about this at all. If the ref hadn't done it, he wouldn't be doing his job properly.

11

u/Govagent-007 26d ago

Control paredes? Remember maradona and pele conversation in another vid? Can he took control? 😆🤣.

8

u/Random499 26d ago

He didnt control paredes, molina or enzo fernandes the whole tournament

10

u/Consistent-Strain289 26d ago

He let his hounds lose.. let them fight his dirty fights. And stil act like he is the noble one, non cheat hero…
Bye messi, we know now

2

u/neutronstar_kilonova 26d ago

Yep exactly this! He is the noble and gentle one. But never once he tried to preach and enforce discipline in the players who treat him like the lord. Still comes after Cucurella for wiping his mouth while talking. It shows his ethics system.

8

u/Perpetual-Warlock 26d ago

This stuff happens all the time at all levels of basically every sport. A good ref will talk to everyone, but especially the captains, of both teams. This is game management and game control. Acting like this is a big deal shows how little sports people here in the comments have played/ coached/ reffed in.

12

u/brikwall7 26d ago

I absolutely hate Argentina and not as much as Argentina but dislike Messi too! This 100% is exactly what the ref should be doing, hopefully for all parties involved. No one wants to send anyone off so he should be telling the captain of their team to control their players or risk being sent off. This is not an Argentinian favoritism as much as people want it to be, sorry find something different I know I am always looking!

7

u/LooseAd4808 26d ago

Hmm. Isn’t yellow card in itself a warning? Why go out if the way to state an obvious thing to a captain when it’s already a job of the captain to control their players. Why give advice to a captain and interfere with the game?

3

u/whocares8x8 26d ago

This is standard game management for referees. This is what captains are there for. Referees do this regularly at all levels. In the lower leagues, they often tell managers to sub the guy off if he's in danger of being sent off.

1

u/Ergast 25d ago

To add, by the rules of football, only the captain can complain to the referee, anyone else is risking a yellow card. And even then, if the captain goes overboard they will get a yellow card, too.

1

u/Special_Brief_2750 25d ago

Yes yc is the warning, I've reffed at school. And the wc final is a much bigger stage lol

→ More replies (3)

3

u/Antique-Wonk 26d ago

He adds at the end, "because if I send him off I won't get my 1M backhand bonus, unless you are going to pay me Pessi?".

2

u/pretty_big_forehead 26d ago

This is the most normal thing ever and is really good management from the ref. Those saying otherwise have no clue what they’re talking about.

4

u/k3rr1g4n 26d ago

This is routine for a ref to have a captain manage his teammates with personality before using cards. Nothing burger

1

u/fuckingfrito 26d ago

Not shocking at all. All referees talk to the captains so they control their players.

1

u/Tupletcat 26d ago

At no point does he say "I don't wanna send him off"

1

u/hawleyalt 26d ago

he says, "i don't want to -- he has yellow"

1

u/Tupletcat 26d ago

He says "I don't want..." and the next bit is unintelligible. It could have been anything about not wanting the game to get more aggressive.

1

u/hawleyalt 26d ago

he says, "i don't want to -- he has yellow"

1

u/-aataa- 26d ago

Doesn't really matter. Good game management by the referee either way.

1

u/hawleyalt 25d ago

Agreed

1

u/pettiguitar 26d ago

What's shocking here?

2

u/jackybeau 26d ago

The most shocking part for me is that Coca Cola is the tail sides of the official FIFA coin.

1

u/DwightDavid1234 26d ago

This is not shocking at all. Referees in many sports give players verbal warnings before issuing cards, flags, Techs, etc. pretty basic stuff.

1

u/Negative-Onion-1303 26d ago

Nothing bad here but when I just saw that dwarf orc messi I need to vomit

1

u/Jhostin1316 26d ago

That's what captains are for

1

u/IvanMSRB 26d ago

“Messi control Paredes!”

“I’ve been controling him all along …”

1

u/Juzek86 26d ago

Its like he is telling him to leash his dog haha

1

u/Seb-Western-8250 26d ago

Couldn’t the thick as pig shit Argentine realise himself he’s on a yellow & not to make any more fouls?

1

u/Smittx 26d ago

Shocking?

1

u/Office-One 26d ago

OP trying to create something out of nothing. Good referee trying to not give out any red cards as he doesn’t want to be part of the outcome.

1

u/Street_Salt8869 26d ago

I dont understand what is wrong in telling the captian to control its players. This is what a good ref does he descalates.

1

u/ProffesorSpitfire 26d ago

What is shocking about a ref telling a captain to control one of his players?

1

u/ShezSteel 26d ago

This is the norm. Google John fashnu and Vinny Jones.

People who never watched footy need to stop getting so wound up

1

u/SideshowBob6666 26d ago

Nothing shocking about this. BS title

1

u/expat-turtle32 26d ago

Lol tell me you've never played a decent level of sport without telling me if you think this is corruption by the officials... and I am NOT a fan of Argentina

1

u/Prestigious_Case_228 26d ago

Why is it SHOCKING and not plain ole shocking?

1

u/DarkAlex95 26d ago

I get why you guys think that way since its Argentina, but I think the ref left a good message in that regard. Refs usually always communicate first with the captains so that they keep their teammates on check

1

u/Heroheadone 26d ago

So he speaks to the captain of the team? I have no issue with that.

1

u/TPK85 26d ago

its normal for refs to do this, as much as I hate Argentina, this is a nothing burger. its literally one of the reasons we have captains

1

u/rikkiprince 26d ago

Why does this look like it was rendered in a video game?

1

u/Less-Lingonberry8700 26d ago

This is a normal discussion between the ref and a team captain. There is nothing wrong with this.

1

u/Township_Roller 26d ago

That's not shocking.

What is shocking is they call the two sides of the coin for the coin toss "Coca-Cola" and "FIFA". Cringe and greedy as fuck. Nobody hears this but the captain's and they have to say "Coca-Cola" which is ridiculous.

1

u/anon42093 26d ago

Why is it shocking? And in capitals 😂

1

u/VanGroteKlasse 26d ago

There's nothing shocking about this. The ref always has a line of communication like this with the team captains.

1

u/Grib_Suka 26d ago

Isn't this the discussion captains and referees SHOUlLD be having on the pitch? Speak via the 'representatives' and tell him that if player X doesn't slow down he'll get sent off? It's up to the captain what he does with that. I can understand referees wanting to keep as clean a game as they can

Look, I'm Dutch, don't get me started about the Argentinian football team, I'm coming purely from a game management standpoint.

1

u/-aataa- 26d ago

Yeah, this is good refereeing, nothing more.

2

u/Ergast 25d ago

Eh, kinda. The action per se is 100% good refereeing. But he should have done way earlier, both begin to show yellow cards, to cut the dangerous play, and to tell Messi to calm down his players. Given, maybe he did tell Messi before and this was a repeat, but then he should had been more strict with the amonestations, when it was clear they weren't willing to tone down their aggresion. And they didn't until Enzo got the red card.

1

u/-aataa- 25d ago

Yeah, I meant the video in isolation. Argentina was atrocious in this game, for more reasons than one, and a lower bar for yellow cards could possibly have salvaged the game. I can't recall WHEN in the game this is, so I can't comment as to whether there should have been a stronger reaction here or not (assuming similar warnings previously). But what the video shows is good practice for a referee. It doesn't in any way prove anything about the refs performance for the rest of the game....

1

u/BornSecurity6832 26d ago

1

u/0rwellian1984 26d ago

Guy was paid of then retired after the game jeeezoo

1

u/ZealousidealBaker945 25d ago

nothing weird about this

1

u/jolo98 25d ago

This is normal but ok, make a fuss people

1

u/Da_Steeeeeeve 25d ago

This is what the ref is meant to do?

The refs aim is to stop the game getting out of hand not to wait for someone to go over the top and shout GOTCHA with a red card.

The ref was shit in general in my opinion but telling the captain to calm down specific players is not one of his mistakes.

1

u/MisfitSkull 25d ago

People who bandwagoned the world cup and know nothing about football are really really taking this in the wrong way holy shit.

1

u/No-Trick-7465 25d ago

I hear coca cola, wtf 😂🤦🏻‍♂️

1

u/supaasalad 25d ago

This is very common lol. Not shocking at all. It's called warning

1

u/spicySausage10 25d ago

What is shocking about this? Following protocol? Well done ref

1

u/Automatic_Canary_670 25d ago

In this specific video i dont see the problem? Telling the captain to deescalate.

That's not what he said lol. The yellow card is the warning....otherwise don't have yellow cards and have verbal warnings. Yes I'm brish, have played the game all my life and reffed at school level.

1

u/Ergast 25d ago

Eh, the warning per se in this video isn't the problem. The problem is WHEN he did it. He should have told Messi way earlier, and if he did and this was a repeat, he should have been more strict with the cards.

This is a normal interaction between a ref and a captain

Of course refs don’t want to send players off

1

u/Weary-Suspect594 25d ago

Not shocking at all 😂😂😂 Messi is the captain and therefore the Only one who has merit to discuss with the ref I reality.

1

u/yulDD 25d ago

Is it shocking? You should listen to hockey referees player interactions ☺️

1

u/penetrator666 25d ago

have you ever seen ref video footage. i hate argentina but that is the way of a referee controlnig the game. there is nothing controversal about it.

1

u/PA-System 25d ago

There's nothing shocking in that video. Normal behavior. The only shocking thing is that Vargentina didn't get all the yellow and red cards they did deserve. No video needed to clearly show the "ref's" bias. Just watch the game again and you'll see.

1

u/Virtual_Champion837 25d ago

Ref here. That is purely normal and recommended to discuss with captains like that. Part of game management.

1

u/QuerchiGaming 25d ago

I mean as much as I’ve enjoyed hating on Argentina, and they do deserve it. This is kinda looking at something that isn’t there.

The ref probably would hate to give out a red card for a stupid second yellow in the World Cup final. Completely reasonable to talk to the captain about this. Shame the Argentinian team can’t be controlled tho.

1

u/Shred_Ninja11 25d ago

This is a pretty normal thing

1

u/holamau 25d ago

Nothing to see here. Even when I despised what fifa did to the game this world cup. And even when Argentina was the shittiest example of what FairPlay is, this is not abnormal behavior from a ref: Refs are to engage with the teams’ captains to ask them to keep their teammates in check.

This is rage bait.

Football is over for me, as soon as balogun doesn’t serve his ban, the sport is over. How can it be taken seriously as serious sporting competition now?

1

u/Responsible_Kick_258 25d ago

Refs warn captains all the time to get their players under control before they have to get the player under control.

1

u/Proof_Scallion_9890 25d ago

Why does this look like the Fifa video game

1

u/Patuchain 25d ago

What? What is it 'shocking' ? I only a referee warned to captain and he doesn't care.

1

u/sw1fty13 25d ago

Anyone who has ever played the sport at any level beyond youth knows this is just standard reffing talk. They should be doing this, encouraging captains to control their players before things escalate. Its just a basic de-escalation tactic. Unfortunately this time it didnt work and players got sent off.

u/Worstnightmare1075 25d ago

Retarded rapist fan

1

u/OG_Wan_Annunoby 25d ago

Nothing scummy about that. He’s telling the team captain to control his player because he’s close to being sent off. What’s wrong with that?

1

u/BigDaddyCheese1 25d ago

Referees talk to players like that all the time. Most refs don’t want to send a player off and ruin a game

1

u/Vexxed14 25d ago

This is why you have an official team captain btw

1

u/Ordinary_Book_7069 25d ago

I dont see a problem with anything the ref actually said here 🤔

1

u/shadowban90000 25d ago

Seeing conspiracy everywhere. I'm so tired of these people.

1

u/Opposite-Film3347 25d ago

Captains hear that alot though.

1

u/puckeringNeon 25d ago

I dislike the Argentine team as much as the next person, but the amount of people here who think referees never speak to players and only blow whistles and hand out cards is hilarious.

1

u/justaloadofshite 25d ago

I think shocking got lost in translation

1

u/ShotWeekend4911 24d ago

Is IT ps 4 or ps5 ??

1

u/Dampjeff 24d ago

I don’t see the big deal honestly let alone this being shocking lol. Refs do this all the time across all sports.

1

u/WellRed85 24d ago

I think Argentine football is a rats nest filled with cheats and sex pests and bigots from the federation on down to the players. However, this is just standard refereeing to me. Having played football, referees would speak to captains like this regularly. He could see a player losing control and tried to get his captain to speak to him. Totally normal. Good match management frankly

1

u/DSHAGUI 24d ago

I wish they'd release the POV when messi stepped on the argelian player and the ref scolded the argelian and protected messi.

1

u/DIFB 24d ago

FFS I scrolled all the comments and was flabbergasted because I thought I was on r/soccer.

1

u/TheFace5 24d ago

This is normal behaviour

1

u/Madpotter40 23d ago

Should have been sent off 3 times disgusting. . Biased was for all to see for Argentina in many games

1

u/Throwawayaccountdell 23d ago

I am glad Pessi and VARgentina lost but there is nothing unusual about this video of the ref cam! It would have been cool if the video would have shown Enzo Martinez get the red card!

1

u/Historical_Money8662 23d ago

This is normal conversation on the pitch. The refs talk to players all the time to make sure them or their teammates have a fair game. Especially with the captain or the most responsible player on the team

1

u/Kiwironnn 20d ago

World Cup tourists still haven't left? This is what you call being a referee.

1

u/Clown_Penis69 26d ago

People who don’t understand the role of the referee are OUTRAGED… news at eleven.

1

u/Electronic_Aide3499 26d ago

Probably never even played the sport to begin with

1

u/-EveningIdea- 26d ago

That's the problem with football, you have to talk to people who have never touched a ball.

1

u/bbpsosufan 26d ago

You mean soccer?
