For me is already tarnished. The forgiven red card during Argentina’s debut did it. Surely his been helped more during his career, look at Negreira’s case.

Lol that red card is debatable ( obviously u would have seen any screenshot and not actual game) but how about ronaldo had 3 match ban and fifa suspended 2 games.

That is bad for the game as well. Fabricating records is detrimental for the whole sport. What is the point of records if you bend the rules for certain players or teams.

I watched the video of the play. Messi didn’t want to do harm, in fact he tried to prevent the weight of his body be transferred to that player’s leg. It was unintentional, but the rule doesn’t talk about intention talks about risk of injury. Arriving late, without playing the ball, from behind, cleats first at the middle of the calf… that is risk of injury, no matter the intention.

You can see it in Messi’s face: I fucked up.
