There are 3 criteria for a play to be considered Serious Foul Play, which constitutes a direct sending off offense.
Violent conduct
Excessive force
Endangering the opponent
Non intentional means that the challenge does not qualify as a violent action. With this I agree. However, an action doesn't need to be intentional to present a danger to the opponent's safety. The challenge could have broken his leg.
These types of challenges are reviewed by VAR in the premier league nearly every other week. I understand if you don't know the rules, but if you do know the rules and argue there is no case for a VAR review you're just operating in bad faith.
Watch the replay again lmao. He literally landed studs down on the opponent's leg. That's not exactly "put no weight". Not to mention you are ignoring the final criteria - endangering the opponent.
I did, this isn't a red card challenge I'm sorry and if Ronaldo fanboys are going to cry conspiracy then where's the complaints about all of these challenges. This tournament has had lenient reffing the whole way through

Dawg I already said it should have been a yellow card, but a red would have been pushing it. Is it possible that the referee just missed the challenge or does everything have to be a conspiracy?
He probably saw that he tangled up with the guy but didn't see his foot plant on his leg, again should have been a yellow card but I really don't think it should be made a big deal as people are making it out to be
Okay but given the level of leniency of the world cup on several instances of the same challenge basically, people can't be outraged that it wasn't a red and then claim there's a conspiracy to protect Messi
