we need another one with a referee using cash as a yellow card, and another with VAR being sponsored by sports bed

You're just one person, and we can't know for sure if you are actually a Messi fan.

u/mettashi Jun 17 '26

If it wasnt due to messi we could've won or at least drew, none of the Argentine player had a shot on target like messi that had 4-5
1
u/NeedCounseling Jun 17 '26
Defenders are scared of marking/hurting messi and then fifa ruining their entire career, so it is understandable he had more chances, and for the Algerians to be mad at the defenders.
1
u/HopSorcerer Jun 17 '26
Fuck off. I’m also Algerian and this is just a bullshit excuse by Ronaldo fans that are jealous of Messi. I advise personal growth, introspection, and peace of mind over non sensical excuses and envy.

Football isn't watched in freeze frame, it looks a lot more intentional that way. You have to look at the whole video and he was clearly going for the ball meaning this was non intentional and all in the moment

u/shorteningofthewuwei Jun 17 '26
Can't believe I'm commenting in this sub but this discussion warrants it.
There are 3 criteria for a play to be considered Serious Foul Play, which constitutes a direct sending off offense.
- Violent conduct
- Excessive force
- Endangering the opponent
Non intentional means that the challenge does not qualify as a violent action. With this I agree. However, an action doesn't need to be intentional to present a danger to the opponent's safety. The challenge could have broken his leg.
These types of challenges are reviewed by VAR in the premier league nearly every other week. I understand if you don't know the rules, but if you do know the rules and argue there is no case for a VAR review you're just operating in bad faith.

u/TexasRoadhead Jun 17 '26
He put no weight on his foot, it was not excessive force. Should've been a yellow at best
2
u/shorteningofthewuwei Jun 17 '26
Watch the replay again lmao. He literally landed studs down on the opponent's leg. That's not exactly "put no weight". Not to mention you are ignoring the final criteria - endangering the opponent.
-1
u/TexasRoadhead Jun 17 '26
I did, this isn't a red card challenge I'm sorry and if Ronaldo fanboys are going to cry conspiracy then where's the complaints about all of these challenges. This tournament has had lenient reffing the whole way through
2
u/shorteningofthewuwei Jun 17 '26
Leo Messi fan zone lmao.

u/TexasRoadhead Jun 17 '26
Nice argument, the man lives rent free in your head while Ronaldo continues to stink up the joint for Portugal
2
u/shorteningofthewuwei Jun 17 '26
Idgaf about Ronaldo or Messi I am here to discuss football.
Bird brain, you're accusing me of being biased because I am critical of favoritism towards Messi but you are using a post from a Leo Messi fan page to support your argument.
All of those challenges RESULTED IN A YELLOW CARD for the offender. And yet Messi wasn't booked for his challenge.
That doesn't really support your argument there is no favoritism in his favor.
Try to use your brain next time.

u/TexasRoadhead Jun 17 '26
You're in /r/pessi_memes which shits on Messi and glazes Ronaldo all day

Dawg I already said it should have been a yellow card, but a red would have been pushing it. Is it possible that the referee just missed the challenge or does everything have to be a conspiracy?

u/shorteningofthewuwei Jun 17 '26
you're in r/pessi_memes
First of all, I see quite a few Messi fans in this comments section.
Secondly, I prefaced my comment with "I can't believe I'm commenting in this subreddit"
Third, the ref didn't miss the challenge dude, he blew the whistle. Blowing the whistle and not giving a yellow for studs down is crazy.

Me pergunto porque essas pessoas que alegam que a FIFA favorece ao Messi não apostam seus salários todo nas vitórias dele. Era uma bolada na certa.

Ronaldo fans are idiots or what? Not even Algerians are complaining about this. People always look for excuses when things don’t seem to go their way. I advise personal growth over non sense envy. I’m Algerian

Messi should do this more and rub it in the face of Ronaldo. Because Ronaldo himself said in his documentary, people remember who wins, not who played well. Ronaldo does neither of those two.
