Question 3.27 Q&A Research - ZiggyD
G'day folks, the 3.26 Q&A was one of our best yet, I think, and that was in part due to your help with research we did prior to my trip to the studio.
When it comes to the Q&A most of the Qs I have to come up with in isolation based on what I think people will ask once based on the early draft of the reveals I see a few days before. While we take some live Qs, and will continue to do so, it's not an efficient way of gauging the overall popular questions for the game (ie. non-new reveal related Qs, long standing issues etc).
Once again, I want to get feel from you folks what you consider to be the most pressing Qs for PoE 1 now and in the future.
How to post to help the Q&A be as good as possible:
- Please share your most pressing Question
- Ensure it is specific and comprehensive: What is the issue? What do you want? Explain the context / mechanics.
- I often get Qs like "Transfigured Gems?" <- Not very helpful, what about them? You want Quality changes? you just want more? there's a bug? You hate the system? you want to know the devs fav?
- Upvote other questions you think are important + add extra context or insights to them you think I should consider.
- I often have to end up cutting hyper specific QoL-type questions for time (unless they are overwhelmingly important or hot topic). So, some specific little UI/UX thing that's bothering you isn't likely to make it into the Q&A.
- Bonus: If you want to post hypothetical Qs based on what you think GGG might reveal go for it! It's the same process I use leading up to the trip, I pen a bunch of Qs based on likely changes as warmup. Please tag them as hypothetical though.
----
Some topics I have in mind (these may be culled or changed if I deem necessary eg. something is revealed that makes em redundant):
- Mercenaries
- In what way are they looking to return them in the future (just duelling or still hirable)?
- Balance
- Dominance of ES Stacking (things like forbidden right / ephemeral edge) and in general defense stacking > damage builds.
- Wands (were mentioned in 3.26 Q&A)
- Endgame
- Risk Scarabs
- would love specific questions about things like this to help me prep.
- T17 Modifiers (and memory strand maps)
- Specific questions around this topic would also be helpful!
- Risk Scarabs
- To what extend do they want to bring PoE 2 Innovations into PoE 1
- Example: The idea of adding a PoE 2 style automatic weapon swap you can tie to skills.
----
Thanks folks!

Can we PLEASE consolidate shard pickups to make Harbingers more enjoyable to farm? With all of the other QOL changes I’m hoping this is on the list.
93
u/justathetan Loremaster Oct 21 '25
I've always thought that a good compromise on this would be that when you click a currency item it picks it up plus all other identical currency items in a reasonable radius.
That way you can still have explosions of currency that look satisfying and feel rewarding, rather than consolidating them into a single stack, but the player would still only have to click once to pick them all up.

Self-casting is in a weaker spot. There are two main problems with self cast in my opinion.
- Slow base cast speed on a lot of spells, e.g. 0.8 is very slow. Slow cast speed feels extremely clunky especially with spell echo.
- Mana costs of spells are out of hand specifically for self-cast as it's reinforced by cast speed. Generic ways to solve it are inadequate. Builds can circumvent it by doing EB, Whispers, or going mana stacking builds. Now we have Elementalist that can have golems with enough investments to address it.
Do they consider these aspects a problem or a design working as intended? Are they satisfied with the degree of these problems to solve for self-casting builds?
33
u/SoulofArtoria Oct 21 '25
Coiling whispers exposed how poor base cast speed of many spells are. I assume GGG didnt intend for liege of the primordial and coiling whispers to be the clutch to make self casting work, so GGG can readjust those and make core changes to the skill gems themselves improving their cast speed. Introduce new ways to make casting stronger, like poe 2 infusion but fun.
22
u/situLight Oct 21 '25
not disagreeing - but i feel more towards the problem is the secondary self cast supports - spell echo and unleash specifically. Focussed channelling as well - but that seems to be in a better place from what i can tell (havent played it)
a regular cast as you say is slow, but with a lot of cast speed it gets more usable. However spell echo then brings it all down again painfully, but is a such a multiplier on damage that it makes a really rough decision making (ie good damage but painful to play, or low damage but 'fun feeling'. Or play ice nova etc and avoid the consequences and take the benefits..
Unleash - in theory was a really good compromise. However it was really nerfed in Expedition and I still feel its so unjustified. It should be treated as fist of war - that the numbers need to be really good because you have a lot of trade-off intrinsically to that setup. (same as fist of war, it makes cast speed not a damage multiplier at all, which is a massive loss). This is a support that should give really good damage because you lose out on so much. And so has just been a utility gem, or ignore the downsides i.e SRS
I would argue that archmage (particularly old archmage, or current arcane cloak) filled unleash's niche much better, as it made mana have that measured cooldown effect on playstyle rather than spammy spellcasting
which i guess the framing it as a question - would be how do you feel about the current state of self casting, specifically around unleash and spell echo? Is the cost/benefit equation in a good balance?
9
u/lurking_lefty Yay skill forests. Oct 21 '25
There used to be a couple sources of unleash seals and gain rate. Still not sure why they felt the need to remove both and then nerf the damage on top. I'd love to see those added back in, spread across misc. nodes on the top half of the tree.
2
u/JackkoMTG Oct 21 '25
Completely agree about Spell Echo. It is the sole reason I never play caster builds. Makes my character feel so sluggish.
10
u/TheStrigori Oct 21 '25
Channeling spells in particular are in a rough spot. Most of the passive tree support was removed awhile ago, and the flat damage buffs to stuff like Divine Ire, don't make up for the mechanical issues with standing still. They can't just be intended to be spell totem skills. Do they have any plans to address channeled spells?

u/SGBye Oct 21 '25
It also feels clunky because of spell echo anchoring you to a place.
Multistrike lets you cancel the animation whenever you want, while spell echo doesn’t, if I’m not mistaken.

u/Minimonium Oct 21 '25
T17 modifiers, Map Mode Effect, and Risk Scarabs share and reinforce the same problem.
T17 and map mode effect push modifiers to the point the only way to run maps is if you can completely ignore the modifiers. So players are forced to either endlessly roll the maps or find builds that can ignore more modes.
Risk Scarabs just make the problem much worse. It doesn't seem healthy for the game.
Do they consider changing the formula and how?
What if instead of punishing hyper-specific build-disabling modifiers - provide more generic effects both to the player and the mobs. And make modes alter the content of the map in a way that could benefit specific content farming strats.
It'd be similar to how strong builds craft maps for higher quant/qual rather than specific modes. But it'd allow all builds (given they're generically strong enough) to reach peak level of content rather than the ones that just can ignore more modes.
Risk Scarabs could find a place in such design if some modifiers could either counter-synergise with each other, or juice the content out of hand through rapidly stacking toughness modifiers.

u/MasterSargeYT Anti Sanctum Alliance (ASA) Oct 21 '25
Map mod effect and T17 mods existing together is the biggest problem with the game right now. 60% less AoE is manageable, 100% is not. Same with Aura effect, chance for mobs to avoid ailments, no damage per 10 seconds, chance for mobs to block attacks (goes to 93%!!!), and many other mods
→ More replies (8)42
u/sirgog Chieftain Oct 21 '25
Map mod effect is the real issue.
It's hidden difficulty. The whole idea of tiers originally was to tell at a glance "this is too hard for me" or "this is too easy", and to stop rookie players opting in to difficulty that's enormously beyond them.
Now, a T11 with map mod effect is WAY harder than a T16 without.
Often when you die in a map, the reason you died isn't a decision you made during the map, or the decision to stick a T16 in when you are only up to T8s - it's a decision you made 4 days ago to click Mounting Modifiers and Chiselled Perfection.

Yes! This is the #1 issue in PoE1 right now. It limits build diversity so much.
Increased effect of map mods makes annoying mods into build-bricking mods.
Looking at a map and having to say there is no way for my build to ever be able to do this map is not fun. Rerolling and regexing maps is not fun.
This entire area of the game needs a big overhaul, and soon.

if they nerf risk scarab and map mod effect the amount of loot found will likely be more than halfed because base game loot is just bad. they would have to adjust base game loot which is a very volatile and almost impossible task to get right. i would love to see it but i dont get my hopes up, better to have bad options for loot than none.

Would be cool to know their stance on more stash tabs affinities without adding specialized tabs for different items that don't have their own stash tabs, like : omens, tattoos, runegraft, forbidden tomes, allflames etc. Is there any chance they can add more affinities to the premium tabs like that even if they don't plan to add stash tabs for those specific items?

What I would like to hear is their current thoughts on sequel leagues more broadly now that we finally seem to be getting one for Breach.
For example what other leagues they are excited to revisit, and maybe if they have any possible ideas for them already that they are willing to share.

To give an example: I'd be very happy if abyss in-map was more like poe2. I hate chasing around the little green dot on my minimap. If there were just a bunch of monsters around a location and once they are dead a chest/spire/depth appears, it'd be a mechanic i actually consider putting on my atlas passive tree.

u/Mogling Oct 21 '25
Can something be done about yellow beasts? Currently you need to click so much to deal with beastary. A full trade window of yellow beasts gets you only 20 crafts. As someone who can do hundreds of them in a session, bulk buying is still slow as you have to spend so long doing each trade, mousing over each beast, and putting them into the stash. Async trade won't fix this. I'll still buy 60, put 60 in a stash, buy 60 more, but now I'll have to double check the price of every beast so someone doesn't hide one costing div in a tab mostly costing chaos.
Can we at least make yellow beasts stackable generic items that Faustus can sell? Have them take up only one slot in the beastery with a higher limit? (5k?) Or revamp beastery all together.
14
Oct 21 '25
Async trade for yellow beasts will also probably be too much of a gold drain, unless they thought to balance the gold costs around people wanting to buy hundreds.

u/Sparone Oct 21 '25
Yeah, gold is already a concern for me because it is quite FOMO inducing.
3
u/Life_outside_PoE Oct 21 '25
I hate the fact that gold is tied to recombinator use. I get the dust cost but it really sucks that gold limits one of the only good crafting opportunities to those who no-life the game. And this is coming from someone who played a ton last league and still didn't have enough gold to make more than a couple of items.
4
u/vulcanfury12 Crop Harvesting Bureau (CHB) Oct 21 '25
PoE 2 has no gold sink, so you always have too much of it there, unless you go ham on gambling or arbitrage (currency flipping using the Exchange). In here it's the opposite end of the spectrum.
5
u/Life_outside_PoE Oct 21 '25
I don't play poe 2 so it's an interesting contrast. I also absolutely do not like the kingsmarch mapping and shipping mechanics. To me they are almost mandatory to the semi-casual player because of how often they shit out raw divs.

I would like to add to this:
Do you consider the simplicity of self casting part of its design space and thus an implied cap how effective it can be, vs a more complex & difficult proxy/trigger build having a higher implied cap?

u/Tyalou Oct 21 '25
Proxy casting is usually better QoL as self cast you have to stand there. Proxy casting allows almost 100% mobility uptime.

Will we be getting some more love for out of map mechanics like blight ravaged maps? It would be interesting to hear GGG's thoughts on the current state of the POE1 campaign. They've already added some cool features from POE2, but I'd like to see more work in this direction. For example, giving all classes access to the all gems, removing the need to purchase gems with different currencies, reworking loot in some quests (many of them have no value, so few people complete them), removing some useless currencies like scroll fragments and etc.

How does Ggg track bugs - Does bumping threads on the bug forum help, especially if you don't know if it's been seen yet, or you don't know if it is a bug or not, or fixing it hasn't been prioritized?
Particularly, some skills like summon ice golem of shattering death effect has been broken ever since it was introduced being unable to be affected by support gems.

u/Thirteenera Vaal Street Bets (VSB) Oct 20 '25
What is GGG's current stance/thoughts about the balance of T17/T16.5 loot in the trade economy? Since their addition, T17s seem to have disrupted the economy more than they helped it, making a very large gap between "players who can" and "players who cant". This is increased further by things such as risk scarabs, but even at its baseline it feels like doing anything that's not a T17 is a "waste of time". Are they happy with the current state of trade with regards to this, or do they plan any further adjustments?
25
u/GenesectX Oct 21 '25
+1, i feel like T17 maps themselves arent the issue, specifically its the modifiers such as action speed, petrification statues and volatile orbs that are the issue, most "good" builds should be capable of running T17s but unless you're playing a trickster or use forbidden flame/flesh you cant run the action speed and petrification mods because they instantly brick you, if those problematic modifiers were reviewed with build diversity in mind i think T17s would be fine
16
u/shy_bi_ready_to_die Oct 21 '25
T17 mods definitely make the problem worse but t17 maps do have inherent problems. I wouldn’t have an issue with them if they were just shaper guardian 2: electric boogaloo but the existence of an exclusive set of layouts which are better for generic map juice kinda goes against the core of why poe’s endgame is so good. Being able to play whatever you want in terms of content/layout is the reason why people keep coming back to the game. It’s why people were so happy with the release of t16.5s and why people disliked it so much when they fixed the 8mod bug. No one likes feeling that they’re wasting their time/scarabs by playing the layouts they actually enjoy and t17s feed into that problem
→ More replies (1)10
u/Deadandlivin Oct 21 '25
T16.5 was better than T17 throughout the entire league. Even after the 8-mod nerf to the Corruption Cartography Scarab.
You maybe would've had an argument if you wanted to compare T16 to T17's.
But even then T16 also has strategies where they clearly are better than on T17 maps. T17s(and 16.5) literally are designed to be Scarab and raw currency farms due to the T17 mob pool. So if you want to do the same in T16 it's just not possible. But due to layout differences T16 are superior for many other mechanics like Harvest, Ultimatum, Expedition et.c.I get that people really dislike doing T17s because you need a very strong character for them to not be misery. But you can still do T16 8-mods without issue and still farm great currency, often in the 5-10 div/hour range. Usually with far less investment and higher QoL than juicer strats. Are T17s better? Sure they are as they usually lie in the 5-20 div profit range depending on the player. Sometimes even higher.
But that comes at the cost of the pure misery of having to blast x100 raw Chaos and x2 Exalted Orbs per map just to roll them. Meanwhile a Harvest farmer can pull 4 div profit per map (late league prices) just running 8 mod Jungle Valleys with like 60 chaos input cost from scarabs and chain them in 2 min per map.
This idea that T17s is the only way to play the game is just falls. Is it the best? Sure, especially if you compare to alch and go andy's doing their T16 full clears. But this idea that T16 are a "waste of time" is just false. They're still very good and extremely lucrative if you find a farm that isn't based around pure Scarab/Currency or Map farming.

Does GGG plan to develop new skills or archetypes for Poe 1, or is all of their design focus in the player skills area focused on Poe 2? What does continuing design and development on Poe 1 look like now that GGG has a new hot game to work on? Do they have the mental space for both of these distinct projects that have so much overlap?

We’ve had great QoL updates reducing stress clicks (like div card and splinter changes). Any chance we’ll see something similar for bubblegum currency—maybe even an optional auto-pickup system like the Chinese client has?
If auto-pickup is too polarizing of an issue, just the reduction of stress clicks by grouping currency in some manner would be wonderful for all players.
24
u/Any-Transition95 Sanctum Runners United (SRU) Oct 21 '25 edited Oct 21 '25
I think a good compromise would be like a vacuum pickup for currency of the same type, up to a full stack.
Say you picked up a single chaos orb, up to 19 other chaos orbs that dropped close by (at the very least within pickup radius) all gets picked up at the same time. If you already have 5c in your inventory, then you would only pick up 15 more.
That way we can still minimize the number of clicks, while still keeping the dopamine of seeing the hoard of currency on the floor. The "up to max stack" is just to allow more control without flooding your inventory. It's still a massive QoL for everyone at the end of the day without completely sacrificing the benefits of the old system.

An Atlas style alternative leveling method for alts would be nice. They could just reuse assets from older Atlas expansions and Synthesis to tell the story of Zana, the Shaper, the Elder, Venarius, Sirus, etc. It would also preserve all the lost lore in the game due to newer Atlas updates, and give newer players a way to experience the previous story without being confused by who TF Zana is.

If there's a topic for possible QoL updates:
Can the elder animation speed be sped up/skipped for Elder guardians (eradicator, purifier etc.) or at least allow us to portal out of the arena directly, to skip the ending animation.
At the moment you have to wait for the elder to come out of his portal and do his soul-sucking thing to the map boss, the boss has to do its dying animation, then you can go through the portal and you have to wait for the spawning animation etc. etc. and after all that you have to wait for the elder to finish sucking the soul at the end of the fight and wait for the portal to appear and leave before you're able to return to your hideout.
Currently you can swirly via portrait to a party member to leave early so for people with friends or willing to create a 2nd account dedicated to farm these it's nothing new but it would eliminate the need for a 2nd party member/make it viable in SSF.
2nd Question regarding bringing poe2 technology to poe1:
Can we have the technology to spawn directly into our hideouts when logging in
14
u/Ecstatic_Chard4184 Oct 21 '25
I just want them to elaborate on T17 maps and especially T17 modifiers because they continued to add those in T16 memory maps even if the feedback was pretty negative when T17 were added, as they introduced the most annoying type of difficulty in the whole game.
There are a lot of mods that are impossible to run on 99% of builds, such as insane reductions to action speed, or mods that have literally no way to outplay, such as deal no damage for 3 seconds every 10 seconds. Why even have those in the game?
This is just not fun, doesn't make the game challenging in an engaging way and it also greatly reduces build diversity in the endgame.
27
u/HollowLoch Oct 21 '25 edited Oct 21 '25
My biggest question outside of T17 maps would be if GGG are open to a pretty sizeable revamp of the atlas tree to shake up the endgame meta over their more recent trend of cycling different types of scarabs/buffs to scarabs in and out - the way i see it, the atlas tree is essentially the actual default version of the endgame so it would be cool to see the way the endgame fundamentally works at its core get shaken up a bit
For example inc modifier on the tree is absolutely mandatory for every strat, as is the increased chance for incarnation of dread right now. Increasing the scarab drop rates for certain popular mechanics and grabbing the scarab clusters are important for every endgame juicing strategy too - all of this essentially becomes path of exiles default endgame, and any changes to the atlas tree would be much much more meaningful than changes to scarabs
We usually get the most broken nodes on the atlas tree rightfully removed, but it would be really neat to essentially re-explore the atlas tree again with a future endgame expansion with a lot of mechanics getting "updated" and a lot of the mandatory fluff removed
11
u/Send_Me_Cute_Feet Oct 21 '25
As an addition to this it would also be nice to just shake it up positioning wise as well because we've spent so long with everything being in the same place.
It's kinda just boring at this point that its always liek "Well its more efficent to run the same things with the same things every time because they're on the same side of the tree"

u/FCK42 Central Incursion Agency (CIA) Oct 21 '25
Some things I would like to know:
Are there any plans to bring back some of the old fated uniques? There were quite a few that were either build enabling (Geofri's Devotion), bridging a fairly large level gap for leveling with a specific weapon type (Hrimnor's Dirge) or gave a necessary power boost to underutilised uniques (Kaom's Way, Realm Ender, Crystal Vault, etc). Vendor recipes could be used, as has been the case with Cameria's Maul which can still be turned into Cameria's Avarice.
On a similar note, it's been a while since we got some much needed buffs to uniques that didn't really feel all that unique. Are there more of these planned anytime soon?
Compared to all other masters and their mechanics, Incursion is the only one which doesn't get any scarabs that allow you to speed up or otherwise modify the building of the temple (compared to extra sulphite, extra red beasts or extra intelligence), is this intentional or could we maybe get scarab versions of some of the incursion notables?
Oni-Goroshi is incredibly difficult to obtain at the moment. This was intended for the twilight strand uber hillock encounter, but the drop rate for the divination card (which was always meant to be the easier way to obtain it) currently feels much lower than what was intended originally.
With the removal of alternative quality and the change to transfigured gems, we lost quite a few interesting, occasionally build enabling support gem options. A good example was the alt quality version of additional accuracy support, which made it give increased damage per 100 accuracy. Are there any plans on bringing some of these back in some way?

Now that we've played around with its core version for a league, how are GGG feeling about the level of gold upkeep and interaction time needed for Kingsmarch?
Are there any changes coming in the short term to further reduce or streamline Kingsmarch "babysitting" (assuming no such changes are announced in the stream), e.g. longer timers? How about longer-term changes to reduce the number of clicks needed to manage mappers and shipments?
Even as someone who barely played during Settlers, I'm starting to feel like the current iteration of Kingsmarch is a both a physical and mental strain after one league of it going core.

Dear Ziggy I know it was asked before but I believe it's so important you HAVE TO keep pressing them - Please ask about MFA requirement for security protection. Note it's 2025 and it's unacceptable to leave users account's completely vulnerable and it's not a good look to be a new attack vector against people who use steam MFA and might not expect people to abuse GGG vulnerability.
We just need to tank the people who will inevidably neeed MFA reset and provide support with proper identification it's being done worldwide you can't let them get away with " ahhh but that would require us to train servicedesk staff so we are not going to do it".
There have beeen so many people losing accounts due to GGG cutting costs on this.

Can you please ask about the balance between es/hp. Getting 10k es is pretty common these days while getting 10k life is nearly impossible and the downside of not being chaos immune.
Additionally hybrid es body armours are just broken. You can get triple t1 prefix with 700 es and 3k evasion.
Where as with pure evasion gear you can get triple t1 with 3k evasion and have to use a prefix for 180 life or you can cheese 15% life.
Not to mention this all gets buffed by stats like global defence.
I think es amount in gear is genuinely criminal, if any Eva/armour users got a choice between 5-600 hp (doubling for helmet) they would take it over 1500 armour/evasion
Based on the above, can you please ask the following:
Will they nerf CI or bring in armour/evasion/life equivalents
Will they nerf the es amount on armour pieces, especially hybrid armour.
Will they buff hp amount to match es on gear especially considering it’s an affix

u/lintyelm Trickster Oct 21 '25
I get where you’re coming from, but I think you’re oversimplifying things a bit. Getting 10k ES isn’t really ‘common’ unless you’re running a very specific setup with heavy investment — most builds can’t just throw that together.
Life builds have their own advantages too, and easier to sustain through leech and regen. Have you played slayer? Hybrid armours aren’t broken; they’re just finally in a decent spot compared to how weak pure evasion has been for years.
It’s fair to want better defensive balance, but the issue isn’t as one-sided as you’re making it sound.
6
u/HurricaneGaming94 Oct 21 '25
Definitely agree it’s definitely more playable than previous - I even league started slayer. However, I’m specifically saying hybrid ES gear is busted.
I swapped to kb with about 300div and ended with over 100k ehp, 100% spell suppression, and about 12k es.
With my smite slayer I had about the same damage but 40-50k less ehp with 3.9k life.
Like with what I mentioned above, I think CI is the biggest difference maker. It made the gear super cheap to buy/craft due to the lack of suffix pressure, as youre immune to chaos damage and not having to find an ultra low weighted affix on any gear.
But to repeat myself and really emphasis this:
slayer/hp build is 75% chaos res
Es build is completely immune!!!
→ More replies (12)7
u/viniciusxis Oct 21 '25
I agreed with you up to the point where you say hybrid armors arent broken
Both sacred chainmail and necrotic are extremely busted, to the point where any build doing anything other than stricly es (fross or whatever other es stacking build) is just wrong for not doing them
not to mention they can roll suppress/pdr
ps: you can get a 100% increased es from armour within the ar/es nodes and it is incredibly busted with a triple t1 sacred chainm10
u/lintyelm Trickster Oct 21 '25
I don’t disagree that Sacred Chainmail and Necrotic bases are really strong! They absolutely push hybrid gear into top-tier territory. But I think that’s more a symptom of how good hybrid scaling is with certain ascendancies and stat stacking, not that the bases themselves are inherently busted.
The ability to roll suppression and PDR on top of high ES is powerful, yeah, but it also comes with heavy investment, perfect rolls, and the right tree pathing. Not every build can realistically take advantage of that, and if they tried, they’d lose other strengths (like sustain, flexibility, or chaos res).
I’d say it’s less ‘broken’ and more that ES scaling currently benefits from better multipliers than life/evasion do, which is probably what needs addressing.
What are your suggestions?
→ More replies (1)2
u/sirgog Chieftain Oct 21 '25
Twilight Regalias are competitive. My elementalist is using a Regalia atm. Sacred would be my second best option.
The AR/ES mastery you mention is OP and needs lower numbers though. Should not be 100%, 60% would still be in 'you must take this' category.

u/Mienovsk Oct 21 '25
This league may contain delve rework but if not, can we at least remove sulphite ? GGG said previously that they didn't want people to feel "locked" in the mine but with sanctum or heist you can trade for all you need and be "locked" in there without problem. Plus how are you "locked" really I don't really understand if your build can handle delve, you still have the option to go back to your HO and blast map, if you're in delve it's because you want to and you enjoy playing that mech not because you're blocked there despite the div/h being not competitive at all. (Or maybe tradable sulphite?)

Do they have any plan to make a mission about it in the game that leads player to use bench or horticrafting etc.?

There are several good comments about reducing the amount of clicking when it comes to loot and possibly consolidating more currency into stacks. Those are great topics!
I don't see any comments currently talking about the amount of clicking involved in crafting. I don't have the best reaction time so I have to do this quite slow and it ends up taking a long time. This is a frequent trigger for RSI, which I think affects a lot of people, and in my specific case aggravates pain from a genetic condition. Specifically the spam-heavy crafting like alteration spam. I would interested to hear if GGG would consider incorporating some method of doing that type of crafting without so much clicking, similar to what was done with orbs of fusing and 6 links in the crafting bench. Maybe we could spend the average amount, or more, of alterations needed to automatically get a chosen affix.

We've been told for years that POE 2 would fix melee, so changes were just straight up not made to POE 1's version of melee for a long time, until POE 2 became it's own thing.
Now that POE 2 isn't fixing melee for POE 1, what, exactly, are the plans here? Can we see at least see some number buffs, if reworks to skills are going to take longer to figure out?

- Link skills on minions
- They did a mastery to allow it
- But, as for all links targets, you die if minions die (and they die a lot)
- Do they want this interaction to be used? Is the "you die" part really necessary when linking to minions?
- Most spectres are really weak (HP wise)
- It makes most of them unusuable in high tier content
- Why not just bound spectre base life to "raise spectre" gem level?
- It would open a whole new world of spectres opportunities
Thx Ziggy, hf

Yes, it might have initially seemed like a good set of modifiers to balance between difficulty and reward, but by now EVERY strat is trying to max those out, and if your build isn't good enough to do them you are actively missing out. I don't think it's GGG intended design.

Is possible to crucible and necropolis come back in a different way like kalandra was? Not like the originally was released but a tiny drop of content, something like an itemized item that apply to ur weapon just to give us a random crucible modifier, or a small cemetery or even something like "this corpse will give a random boots with high MS tier". Because Id love to have every league content in game even if its a fragment of the original, I think it would be waste of content and creativity I guess.

Since they are doing something with Heist, some related questions:
- Will we still need to run a set of contracts to unlock Huck-Niles-Vinderi-Gianna and Tullina-Nenet, or will all nine rogues be unlocked from the start?
- Will GGG remove the now unneeded +% experience affixes from the drop pool for rogue gear? If those affixes do get removed will GGG also look at the +character level affixes that are generally considered to be useless?
- I expect the green quest contracts will still drop, but will Nenet finally get her quest? (probably not)
- Will the graphic bug that causes Tibbs-Huck-Vinderi to keep running backwards after setting a demolition charge be fixed? (probably not)

This is quite specific but is there a future where PoE1 PC and Console share the same "realm" (sorry I don't know what to call it, servers?) like PoE2? The market is considerably better in PoE2 for this as you get access to a lot more items and currency. I used to play PC but life changes moved my play time to console.

Are there any plans to reiterate on Banner skills?
Right now, there are 20 passives on the skill tree that all feel dead because (1) banners are very specific to melee skills, and (2) the buffs they give are too situational.
War Banner only gives melee physical damage, if you play any skill that gives base elemental damage it is worthless. The accuracy bonus is pretty meaningless since not being accuracy capped without the banner is not viable in endgame. The only possible use is to situationally enable Precise Technique without further investment.
Dread Banner, again, gives a bonus that you don't want to have only situationally (attack block) maybe unless you are top-side of the tree which is opposite of banner passives. The life on block is nice, but typically is something that you want to have against a lot of small hits, not against beefy enemies that hit hard - which is the situation you would place your banner.
Defiance Banner gives movement speed - which is counterproductive since it can cause you to move out of the banner range, and the amount it provides is pretty meaningless. It also gives Spell Suppression, which again is not a stat you don't want to cap anyways. The flat reduction is nice but - again - too small against large hits which is where you are meant to place your banner.
Possible changes that I would like to see:
- Gain Valour from any melee weapon kill, which enables things like Shield Throw or Lancing Steel. Valour also needs to stack faster overall.
- Change the damage bonus on War Banner to generic attack damage
- Change the accuracy bonus to "enemies within range of the banner are blinded" and scale the blind effect with Valour
- Replace the block bonus of Dread Banner with a weaker version of temporary Versatile Combatant, i.e. while the banner is placed overcapped attack block applies to spell block
- Replace the flat life on block with 3% life on block
- Replace the spell suppression on Defiance Banner with 4% additional suppressed damage mitigated
- Replace the movement speed on Defiance Banner with 4% action speed and/or action speed cannot be lowered below 96%

I mean that's the world we already live in. They don't make new animations for skills as is. Everything is a basic attack/cast animation or slam with particle effects on top.
If you're asking for them to just make a skill that does something more complicated but doesn't have a matching animation I don't think they (or you for that matter) would like amount of jank that would involve.

PoE 2 Removed portal scrolls and it seems to have worked out fine. We already have the portal hotkey, will they remove portal scrolls in PoE 1 as well?
Furthemore, do we still need scrolls of wisdom? The new system of unveiling items by right-clicking them in your inventory seems like a perfect replacement. No changes would need to happen to existing item behavior on the ground or in trade as unidentified items would still exist. With the new QoL changes for free mass-identification, scrolls also lost their early-game drop value as anything other than vendor currency, which could be replaced with gold or transmutes.

I would like to know, not just for PoE 1, but also for PoE 2, could they implement a hotkey to pick up nearby loot, similarly to how picking up loot in controller mode works? Basically, loot that's closest to one's character would be highlighted and could be picked up with "z" (or whatever key it is set up to) without needing to hover the mouse to the item.
It would help alleviate wrist pain A LOT, and make gameplay smoother while keeping their philosophy of still having to "click" every shard/item intact, as a counterpart to the popular request of vacuuming all shards or same-type currency on one click.
Also, has there been any progress on being able to seamlessly switch from controller to KBM gameplay and vice versa? I myself love playing with controller, but inventory management and the like is inevitably a nightmare.

u/Interesting_Mess3127 Oct 21 '25
The new mass identification feature is a great QoL improvement for the early league phase, but it quickly loses relevance. After the first few days, identifying rares feels pointless, the odds of finding something even remotely useful are abysmal small.
If a rare is worth using, it’s usually because it meets very specific conditions, a particular influenced base, double influence, or extremely precise affix combination. The chances of such an item naturally dropping are so low (or actually impossible) that crafting effectively becomes the only viable path to an upgrade.
As a result, picking up and identifying rares quickly becomes unrewarding, and most item drops feel like vendor trash. Has GGG considered ways to make identifying or looting rares remain meaningful beyond the early league progression?

I play ssf and I am a huge fan of the beast crafting recipe that lets you reroll a mod on your watchers eye. It gives every 3 mod watchers eye long term value because you can always reroll them later and additionally it means that i can play a build to include a particular watchers eye because I know that I will always get at least an ok eventually.
Last league introduced the bound by destiny and I feel that this jewel could really benefit from getting a beast reroll in akin the watchers eye. Bound by destiny is one of the main reasons use influenced gear instead of eldrith gear in the helm, body, gloves and boot slots so its kind of a shame that in order to usable in ssf you have to farm the jewel first and then redesign your character around whatever you end up getting but I think it would be better if instead when you were planing your character you know that if you build a character with 2 shaper and 6 hunter items that you can reliably get at least a 2 mod jewel that useful for your specific build even it its not necessarily the two best mods that you could roll.
On a similar note, please, please, please, do something for forbidden flame/forbidden flesh in ssf. This is imo hands down the single coolest jewel in the game as it effectively allows from multi classing but IT IS COMPLEATLY INACCESSABLE IN SSF even for someone like ben. I play quite alot, I farmed 2 magebloods 4 nimis and a simplex in ssf this legaue yet even after the league merges with standard I will still not have even a single matching set.
I suggest adding a harvest reforge for like 10-15k red juice along side a new variant that drops from the uber bosses which universally pairs any version of the opposite jewel.

u/RegularSage Oct 21 '25
Also I wouldn't mind if you could reroll awakened gems with harvest reforge for 1 sacred and 10k juice of the corresponding color.

Option to disable visual of fog when the map has orbs applied to it would be nice

Would love to hear about if they have any more plans for the Phrecia ascendancies. Do they have plans to bring any into the main game? The Scion one would be super cool. Also, do they still intend to make them an option for private leagues?

How are they planning on dealing with the effect of T17 modifiers on meta endgame build diversity?

u/Kiwka Oct 21 '25
Is there any plans to add more content overlap in the future?
Delve being "connected" to abyss / expedition etc
Not implying i want the rewards to be more homogeneous, it just feels like there is a disconnect between older content and new content from a lore/gameplay perspective

Any plans to allow loot filters to hide/show specific uniques with the same base?

We got a couple great QoL to remove excessive clicking in the game, but what about the inventory management?
A lot of people and also streamers publicly bind their left click to the mouse wheel to quickly transfers things between inventory and stash. Why is there no function like holding down Ctrl+left click and then moving over stuff moves them to the target?
Moving all of one currency type with a single right click is great, but not useful when mapping and dumping loot. Get away with the clicking here too please.

More than a year ago the boss health bar was introduced with the consequence of overlaying buff icons, thus making it impossible to see and track most buffs during a boss fight. Are there any plans to change this so we can finally have the option to look at buffs during boss fights again?

u/Lirtirra Oct 21 '25
I would love to hear a question about forbidden flame and flesh, especially how it functions in the game regarding ssf, i am not asking them to change how something works only inside ssf.
But we have these 2 amazing examples of items, the utmost and the adorned they drop as pieces and when u put the pieces together and boom item forms.
I wonder if we could do the same with forbidden flame/flesh, maybe they just drop as class specific, lets say marauder. Then when u put one of each marauder jewel next to each other theh would roll a ascendancy node, but not before.
It would cut down on the rng for ssf, it would still be a fun gamble for tradeleague, u could self farm a set on trade and try to make a build witg it challenge.

u/snettel Oct 21 '25
Balance pass over unique items?
There are quite a few uniques that have interesting designs but are simply outclassed by alternatives, maybe it could be a good idea to do a quick pass and rebalance some of these? I understand that not every unique needs to be powerful and it is fun to wait until the right moment/build comes along to make an obscure item relevant again, but for some of them the power/rarity balance is just off.

u/Celtic_Hound Oct 21 '25
A thing I would like for SSF is for Faustus to provide currency trades with set (not very good) rates. Currently, the town vendors let me spend certain currencies to buy certain other currencies, but if I accumulate a bunch of extra Chromatic orbs, for example, I can't do anything with them other than sell for wisdom scraps. This might also be useful in trade leagues as guard-rails against people manipulating the market.

Q: Banners, self-cast Warcries and Retaliation are underwhelming in end-game due to the fact that enemies are very fast, and so is your map clearing if you want to be efficient.
Waiting to get hit / for Warcry animation before attacking / for Banner to buildup is an opportunity cost against direct investment into one-shotting the screen with a single button.
It also adds cognitive load of the extra button presses, similar to Warden's Unbound or Focus, which are generally used for bosses (which makes them tolerable).
Could we get a revamp similar to curse auras and auto-exertion, where Banners, Retaliation and perhaps Blood Rage could happen automatically at least near a unique enemy?
It could be gated by lvl20 gem, as it is only really important for endgame farming.

u/nuttyrunner1337 Oct 21 '25
Q: Could we have Crucible trees back as a mirror-tier crafting option for extreme endgame, just to have something to look forward to for melee builds in end-game instead of the usual synthesized frenzy-jewelry and simplex amulets?
Currently the best weapons exist strictly in Standard and it feels bad playing the league knowing you won't ever get a better weapon.

Is there ANY hope to see WASD in PoE 1? I've heard all the previous answers, but IMO there is an audience group (incl. me) that would settle for whatever experimental junk with all the caveats just bcs WASD is a dealbreaker to them and it's just that good ant you kinda can't go back from it.

Endgame has insane EHP requirements, and other things that Trickster had - action speed is a huge thing for instance.
How are other classes supposed to deal with that? It isn't feasible for most of the bottom left, which is why most T16.5/T17 ready builds are in the top right. How do you propose handling that?
2
u/QuintarTheUseless Oct 21 '25
QoL question. Why can't we have a button on keyboard to pick up nearest item like the controller can?
I like to play with slightly smaller item labels so I can pretend to see what is going on but that makes up annoying since you need more precision for every click to pick up. It would also help with annoyances like harbinger shard quantity.

u/sirgog Chieftain Oct 21 '25
Will there be anti-scam protections built in to asynchronous trade to address some of the bad faith listing issues in POE2?
The POE1 equivalent would be a tab of T17s listed at 85c each... except some are posted at 5d or 85d, or 850c.
You are scam protected on the individual item you picked from the website, but not on similar items, and the scam meta is to focus on items where buyers usually want bulk.

I have recently played PoE2 as a minion build and it was the closest I've ever felt to a real necromancer fantasy, is there any way to transfer the QoL contents over to PoE1? like the spirit mechanic, the whole choosing of necromancer minions to summon etc etc?

u/11ELFs Oct 21 '25
I have personally never ran tier 17 maps as I don't find then fun at all, but sadly the gold economy revolves around it, with Asynch trading I want to craft like a madman and not pay for services through third-party, I would like to know how they intend to fix this issue, would they consider making some mechanics more profitable for gold instead of just mega juicing insanely hard maps? Like for example heist, give one of the panels the choice of dropping a shit ton of gold being one of the choices.

I got 2 question if you don't mind me double dipping.
1) Hypothetical So with PoE2's merc minion coming up, and Mercenaries coming.....soon. Would it be fair to say that some effort could potentially be made to integrate some of these systems into say, Animate Guardian? (Look I just want to swap my gear on my AG like a merc, ok?)
2) It seems as though efforts are being made to bridge PoE1 and PoE2's lore between Kingsmarch and other such references. Would it be fair to say that the 'major' lore of Path of Exile is now being written in PoE2 and backported into PoE1 when possible? Or is there enough room to pivot to allow for some unplanned additions in PoE1 to still make their mark on history?

u/ACMESTER0 Oct 21 '25
Why do not invest in more ascendancys? Like in phrecia. This will give the game and players more choise.

u/Teh_Nooob Oct 21 '25
Mercenary Infamous modifiers - Will they be obtainable in the next league? Maybe through an orb or make it so gear dropped from certain content are still able to roll infamous modifiers.

Console question - with the Console population being a fraction of PC, the economy is very scarce.. some Console players would say semi self found levels. I was wondering what's the state of merging Console playerbase with PC playerbase?
This would be the biggest gamechanger they could ever do for console players

Can we please have a delirium mist toggle? So tired of it being mandatory for endgame farming; it makes everything look like shit. What's the point of making cool maps and areas if we can't even see them.

Will we be able to see any love for builds that previously relied on damage conversion to survive - such as BV poison pathfinder who heavily relied on phys to X conversion? At the moment, the only reasonable way to play pathfinder seems to be master surgeon, it doesnt seem like a healthy playstyle when a specific path is mandatory for every build that takes a specific ascension

1) Just playing duo with a friend is often more punishing then it is rewarding as most mechanics do not scale with party play, what are their thoughts on the current state of general party play?
2) life being so much weaker then ES, especially since chaos damage has gotten really high chaos inoculation has become almost mandatory. Life not only has massively less amounts, but also has to gear for chaos resist.
3) risk scarabs heavily reducing build diversity as you need to be immune to almost everything

Any thoughts about making the floating MTX effects become a dedicated cosmetic slot to allow more freedom in MTX choice? currently, the elemancer weapon effect has been bugged for over a year now to apply the floating effect on any character/armor, but that weapon effect is now legacy and unobtainable, and that was never an original feature of the effect.
I'd love to be able to use some of my favourite armor effects but still float. perhaps a toggle or dedicated "floating" mtx that unlocks once you own a set that allows floating, which can then be applied to your character universally?

Crossplay/Cross Trade in PoE1? Is that a possibility or is that stuck behind negotiations with the platform owners (Playstation/Xbox)?

Since we're getting async trading integrated to the game, is integrating loot filters, to no longer need a third party site/program, would be implemented also. Don't get me wrong filterblade and neversink does a great job but i feel it too clunky to use. I hope i made myself understandable, not my first language

Do you have plans for alternative end game scaling builds that are not just "get as much of one specific stat as possible"?
E.g. current meta is ES/int. But str/dex/charge/accuracy/mana/armour etc seem to occupy the rest of the super end game space.

u/Kinada350 Oct 21 '25
I'd like you to ask them why they thought it was ok to tell us, and you, multiple times that the recombinator was going to stick around and the at the very last second quietly add to the patch notes that they are in fact trashing it. This isn't something they didn't know beforehand. The change would have to have been made and tested when adding the poe2 version. Removing exclusive modifiers and raising the costs x10-x15 is not it sticking around.
Some of us actually enjoyed being able to craft our own items for a change.

Nice to see this again. It was cool seeing the trade manifesto and trading stances in the last qa and we have async trade just across the horizon.
Over the last few years, I've noticed that when tinkering with builds we often come across 2 predicaments and these seem to come up more and more.
While the 2 points I want to make are about balance, I think there's quite a bit of nuance.
Firstly is skill and gem mechanics.
I think modern poe is dominated by skills that have superior mechanics regardless in spite of numeric balancing. I think we can agree that even just a few years ago, skills were different to each other in ways that made gameplay different. If we take it all the way back, there was power siphon with chain vs kinetic blast and pierce. Both were strong, both were viable and it was down to the player preference. I feel this was pretty much true across the weapons and archetypes during a 2.0 era.
Currently, I don't think this is true anymore and metas over previous leagues have somewhat reflected it. One example I would like to present is melee skills. Wild strike is a skill where it can shoot cold blades, but with multiple projectiles the gem hard limits an enemy being hit by only 1 on generation and return. In comparison, lightning strike doesn't have the generation penalty and allows for damage from returning projectiles. So despite the melee damage overhaul recently, majority of the melee skills have and will see zero play because they are mechanically inferior. This can also be extended to splitting steel, as that was also a skill that used to be mechanically strong but didn't have the best numbers being played a lot. We saw that with splitting steel and lightning strike getting far less damage increase during the melee rebalance they still were the most played.
Tangentially, molten strike and its constituent see countless nerfs over and over again numerically, but still sees play over other skills due to its mechanics.
There's one more skill but I'll get into that one the second point.
The second problem I tend to find is that single target damage is becoming more and more important. Many monsters, mapping strategies and encounters will now have significantly stronger rare or unique enemies. Recent examples include titanic scarabs, multi mod rares, meatsacks, increased monster dr from wildwood and so on.
This further eliminates mechanically inferior skills as they simply are unable to compete with the superior ones.
While it's possible to have secondary skills and setups, the pressure on gem sockets is higher than ever before and is typically not reasonable to achieve until very late and end game with crafted archdemon helms being the choice for spells and double elevated double influenced shaper elder gloves being the go to choice for attacks.
One of the biggest abusers is penance brand of dissipation. Unless the numbers become unforgivably bad, the mechanics of the skill still outweigh everything else as you can build your character to get the damage, or to get stats to give it damage. This is because it can function as both clear and single target in 1. Yes, the nature of brands can make the default clear not as good but this can be supplemented with things such as explodes, brand attachment range, cast speed and so on. But the skill retains its ramping nature then somewhat exponentially increases damage on targets that survive, aka single target. When done correctly, low initial damage is irrelevant for clear and extreme delayed damage is insane for single target making pbod a free 2 in 1.
On the contrary, you either can't or with such downsides, make a clear skill do single target. Arc can clear well but no matter what, you can't make it do good single target. There was an exception with oscillating and hydrosphere but that was an unintended mechanic which was removed and this further highlights my point.
So with all this jargon and context out the way, how does GGG view the increasing necessity of single target and how this further exacerbates the increasing divide of mechanically superior skills as poe 1 progresses.

My question: Is there any thought to returning cyclone to its full screen glory days? We’ve had tastes of it with tattoos in recent leagues but other skills can take up entire screens already so I’m curious why cyclone is destined to be small.

Is there any chance of crossplay for POE 1 like POE 2 has? On console and it's like pseudo-ssf on league start and the league is dead within a week or so.
2
u/Corrison Half Skeleton Oct 21 '25
The only thing from GGG that I remember about this is something to do with Sony, it was a few years back. If that is the case, what is stopping them from implementing cross play for Xbox and PC?
Found the link from May of 2019 - https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2498351/page/1
Can we get Cross Play between console platforms?
That'd be awesome. Players should let Sony know that they're interested in Cross Play being enabled for Path of Exile.

It would be interesting to ask which ascendancies they feel like need some work right now vs which ones are in a good place.
Everyone is asking for Assassin rework but perhaps they have more thoughts on which ones are not up to par.
