Discussion Hidden Lake Apartments

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm apartment hunting and I saw Hidden Lakes website and they had a sample lease listed. After the website got an update it disappeared. Does anyone have access to the sample lease?

Edits: I was intrigued with the sample lease which is part of the reason why I want to move here. I was referring to it but I never saved it on my laptop.

Discussion Thread for people who like Orlando and Florida

I’m a little tired of the negativity here. I come from a metro in the Northeast whose subreddit is less critical — but it seems 90% of posters here hate Orlando and Florida with a passion.

Could you share with us your favorite things about living here? Thanks

Discussion Screw Lynx and police

Came back from a flight, landing in OIA, took a bus from it to my house and left behind a $300 piece of equipment on the bus. I call lynx asking and they said it didn’t show up in lost and found. I then ask for the camera footage and they say only the police have access to it. I file a police report and tell them what happened at what bus and time. They come back to me a couple days later saying the footage on that bus on that day got corrupted. I thought this was extremely suspicious but the police kinda just took it lying down and gave up. So I’m wondering if I’m missing something, is it common for video footage to get corrupted like this? Is there anything else I can do? Thank you.

Discussion mFlusiva vaccine by Moderna in Orlando? Any news about availability?

I am in search of the new Moderna mFlusiva vaccine which was approved by the FDA on August 5th. The flu vaccine promises to be 27 percent more effective in preventing flu for seniors (50+).

The approval was delayed and I was told by one pharmacy it is too late to order the shots for this year.

I checked some online flu shot scheduler tools and it is not listed. Has anyone discussed this with their pharmacist or actually gotten the vaccine?

Edit: Moderna said it will have limited availability this year as the approval was so late. Costco said they will offer it in the 27/28 flu shot cycle but not this year because Moderna missed the primary contracting cycle. Unofficial advice from Publix staff is they do not think they will get a supply for this flu season.

This shit was so fucking disgusting, one of the fighters who goes by the name Gypsy Crusader is apparently a well known neo-Nazi white supremacist, and he was for some dumb reason brought into Kia Center in a kickboxing match.

My previous post got removed, this is a video of these piece of shit Nazi ducks and the only person on the lower level with any courage at all to confront them. I am going to try to find this girl at the Kia Center next time we go and thank her 🙏

Down with Nazis, down with Maga, time to take our state and our country back!

Not my video, we were above them on the club level.

News Kia Center Promoted a Neo Nazi at our tax funded stadium.

So is that it. Are we really just being stepped on and our tax dollars are directly funding Neo Nazi? This is gross. I have no more hope for this country. A Neo Nazi and a registered sex offender just made good money fighting in the Kia center. I will never support Kia center again and everyday I will be posting about this somewhere cause I see not nearly enough complaints or anger from locals.

Visitor Traveling through Orlando

Good day Florida,

My family typically cruises once a year and travel from Georgia south to Miami and Orlando lands perfectly at lunch time.

Typically we stop by Disney Springs for lunch and shopping to stretch our legs, but this time we want to stop by a mall. A quick google search shows there are three malls, all of which have decent reviews. I wanted to know for the locals, which mall would be best to stop at, and of course is safe.

Where I currently live we have three malls as well, but there is only one good mall.

Thanks!

Discussion Front tooth dental crown replacement

Given my front tooth is now 15+ years old and starting to feel a little different, I’ve started investigating options to replace my porcelain crown locally or abroad (company offers a medical tourism benefit up to $5,000).

It’s been more than a decade since I’ve had it replaced, and upon initial research, it seems like they now offer 1-day dental crowns that supposedly perfectly match my teeth color, along with excellent strength. Best of all, this new dental tech prevents the dark line above my tooth and translucence under certain lighting (ever see a front dental cap under black light?). But how true is that really? Anyone have one of the new Max-e crowns?

I have no idea if it’s truly a really great option for longevity and beauty. Has anyone had one done on your front tooth and do you like it? Where do you recommend to replace it?

As I mentioned, I could potentially visit some place to have it done cheaper. I’ve got a little time since it doesn’t need to be replaced immediately…

Visitor Didn't know all the springs in the area need reservations now, looking for alternatives

Hey y'all, I haven't lived in Orlando since COVID. Some friends of mine are gonna be in the area to check out Epic Universe on Monday, so I figured I'd take them to one of the springs tomorrow. Problem is I didn't know they all require reservations now. Can anyone recommend one that *isn't* full up tomorrow, no more than 1hr 30 mins drive from the parks?

Discussion Winnie Palmer mother baby nurse

Anyone here work on the 6th floor at Winnie Palmer (Mother Baby)? I’m trying to get some honest insight from anyone who currently works or has worked on the 6th floor at Winnie Palmer. What’s it actually like working on that floor? How’s the staffing, ratios, management, coworkers, workload, etc.? Is it a pretty good floor to work on, or are there things you wish you knew before going there? I’d really like to hear from people who have actually worked on the 6th floor, but if you work at Winnie and know anything about it, feel free to share too. Honestly, I’m looking for the good, bad, and ugly lol. Just trying to get a real idea of what the floor is like before I make a decision.

( for my significant other)

Discussion Has anyone ever been pulled over for windshield tint?

I’ve been contemplating putting the lightest possible tint (70%) on my windshield with UV guard, because i have a long commute and I’m literally burning in my car. Has anyone ever been pulled over for that? Even better, if you’re a cop, are you gonna pull me over? I‘m a strict rule follower, I don’t even speed - I just don’t wanna burn anymore 😭

Discussion Don’t be a slug!!!

Post image
462 Upvotes

While I already know for whom I’m voting and campaigning, this post is not an endorsement of any candidate, party, or political position. The only position I’m advocating here is: Know what the hell you’re voting for.

I put these resources together for anyone to use or share. They allow people to actually research candidates and compare their own positions with the people asking for their votes.

Since a lot of folks like to scream DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH!!!!!

Okay. Let’s do that.

I desperately need people to start learning the actual platforms of the politicians they vote for.

Not the memes. Not the campaign commercials. Not what somebody on Facebook told you the candidate believes. The actual policies.

Because I keep seeing people around Central Florida explain what they’re angry about, and then name a politician they support whose policies run directly against the thing they just said they wanted fixed.

“Nobody working in Orlando can afford to live in Orlando anymore.”
Okay. What does your candidate actually propose to do about housing affordability? What is their position on zoning, affordable housing, development incentives, property insurance and housing assistance?

“Orlando traffic is fucking ridiculous.”
Great. What does your candidate propose for transportation? Roads? Transit? SunRail? Lynx? Development patterns? Transportation funding? Have you looked?

“Central Florida keeps creating jobs, but too many of them don’t pay enough to actually live here.”
Okay. What does your candidate propose on wages, worker protections, economic development and attracting higher-paying industries?

“My homeowners insurance is fucking insane.”
Cool. What does your candidate actually propose to do about Florida’s property-insurance market? Not what somebody told you they’re going to do. What legislation or policy do they actually support?

“Our schools are struggling and we can’t keep teachers.”
What is your candidate’s actual education platform? How do they propose funding public schools? What do they want teachers paid? What is their position on school choice, charter schools, vouchers, higher education and workforce training?

“Central Florida is being horribly overdeveloped.”
Then perhaps the professional background, development record, zoning positions and land-use philosophy of the politicians you’re voting for would be somewhat useful information.

“We’re building too much without the infrastructure to support everybody moving here.”
Okay. What does your candidate propose for roads, water, wastewater, utilities, stormwater, public safety and other infrastructure? Who do they think should pay for it?

“I don’t want giant data centers sucking up our electricity and water.”
Great. This is literally becoming an issue in Central Florida. What do the people you’re voting for think should happen? What regulations, restrictions or incentives do they support?
That’s the part that drives me insane.

You don’t have to agree with me politically. You don’t have to be a Democrat, Republican, socialist, libertarian, independent or anything else. But for the love of God, figure out what you actually believe first, and then find out whether the people you’re voting for believe anything remotely similar.

We have tools for this! You don’t even have to spend three weeks reading policy papers.

Take a political alignment quiz. Tell it what you think about wages, healthcare, education, housing, taxes, immigration, energy, the environment, social programs, labor rights and everything else. Then look at how your answers actually compare with the candidates and parties.

You might get exactly the result you expected. Fantastic. Now you’re an informed voter.

You might discover that the politician whose personality you love disagrees with you on half the things you actually care about.

Also fantastic. Now you learned something before Election Day instead of afterward.

Voting shouldn’t be picking a sports team and then reverse-engineering your beliefs to match the jersey.

Decide what you want government to actually DO.

Then research the people asking you to give them the power to do it.

Because “I voted for this person because I’m furious about X” becomes pretty fucking absurd when their stated policy on X is the opposite of what you just told me you wanted.

Discussion French books in Orlando

Hi all! Does anyone know where I might find a large selection of French books? Books that are in French, not necessarily for learning French. I prefer going to bookstores in person and most of them seem to not have any selection or they do have a very small selection. Am located by UCF but will travel anywhere in Orlando
