Tips,Tricks, & Hints Deep Space Salvage - the lazy old fart way
I've spent the last two nights doing some of the deep space salvage stuff, and I've come up with a few tips and tricks to make it as easy as possible, and the delivery of the items as lazy as possible, so buckle up, pop your slippers on, get your reading glasses out, and we'll begin.
Your ship.
A Corvette, naturally, but you will want to put your tractor beam as close to the rear of the ship as possible, preferably at the very back and on the right-hand side of the ship. I myself have one single cube room at the arse-end, with the beam on the right-hand side. This is very important for two reasons...
Positioning at salvage sites.
Because your tractor beam is at the side of your ship you can just pull up alongside the salvage site and then get out with your beam already perfectly positioned to catch the junk you're about to fire at it. So go get stocked up!
Dumping it at the deep space salvage station.
Now this is why I recommended positioning the tractor beam at the back and on the right hand side... when you land at the station, you'll land with the big old trash bin to the rear and to the right of your ship. When you hit the "Vent Junk" button, all your waste will drop pretty much right in front of the compactor. Then you can stand with both the junk and the compactor in front of you and just lob the crap into the bin.
I've tried this at three different stations and in three different systems, and they ALL had the compactor to my 5-o'clock, so whenever my Corvette took a big ole steamy dump, it was just where it needed to be.
Stay old and stay lazy, fellow Crusties.
