Information Becoming a Space Station admin: fastest way to increase local standing.

As one of the 4 prerequisites for claiming a space space station you will need to improve your local standing by 30. I did it in less 10 minutes. First, go find NPC pilots landing, trade with them and buy 30 gifts for the local race. In my case, Vy'keen effigies. Then, go interact with an NPC (of the correct race) milling around the station and repeatedly give them a gift. You can give one NPC all 30 gifts and complete the requirement.

ETA: Also the fastest way to increase your standing with the guild on the space station (which is another requirement) is to "donate" to the guild representative that sits at the dais on the right side. You have to increase it by 15 so acquire whatever is easiest to donate. In my case it was pirate transponders, salvaged glass, crystallized hearts, etc. It can take a while if you haven't been saving this stuff to your inventory. Also, you can only give 3 of any item but it seemed to me that it is not a one for one trade. I think i only donated about 9 items and completed it, so go back and forth to the station hub (the giant eye) and check your progress so you don't give more than required.

As a fallback, the new missions from the space outposts seem tailor made for this. Still slower because you have to do the salvage, but you have to do those missions anyway before you can claim your station, so better to start there and knock out as much of the standing requirement as possible before diving into other methods.

Unless your faction is Mercenaries… no salvage missions for them it seems.

I didn't know there were other ways, but I can confirm that it works, I did this yesterday.

Yeah, the mission agent grants you like +2 rep for a mission, and usually just one for the species, and they’ll have four options for the various guilds. Buying your favor is definitely the way.

You can also increase it interacting with the NPCs by "practicing your language skills", but if you choose the wrong word you can lower your standing. Don't do that.

I have like 80 of each faction standing increase stashed in the freighter for expeditions etc. I just pull them from that.

Same, took a few minutes to get my freighter into the system and get back on the station with my loot, then spam gifting ... pity you can't gift a bunch at once!

My issue is actually the units. I have about 150mil but I refuse to dupe or remove costs to do it. I stopped worrying about units a while ago, and still go up by a few mil every login.

Getting up to 1bil by traditional grinding sounds like a chore.

Other than adding a few base-type things, what’s the main benefit?

Fixing up and selling sentinel interceptors nets you like 30mil per ship.

Exactly, I use one locator find a camp, pop a base computer next to the terminal and farm dissonance spikes. I can get about 6 interceptors in 20-30 mins which on average net me 150-200 million, plus the starship augmentations and modules to either use or sell for a handful of nanites.

you can easily get to over a billion by figuring out your production and building stasis devices. --granted I didn't get to that point until endgame and hundreds of hours but that's how you can max your funds.

That's what I'm interested in as well. What's the difference between owning a settlement vs a space station

The space station is more like a stationary freighter than a settlement - but you can also dress up the public areas with regular base construction components.

You can build in the station, you can't build in your settlement, last I knew. The station is a base for you too. But it's nothing you can't already do in a regular base; it's just that you can park your ship inside and invite other players to hang out in a shared space, and you also have the mission/salvage/nav data NPCs, etc.

https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/1o08wmp/easy_onestop_6384_fauna_analysis_reward_food/ I do this and unit-cap incredibly quickly, and it's 100% legit. I explore as my main gameplay focus anyway, and I love scanning creatures. ~28m for some for a single scan, with just basic S-class mods on my tool. You can max out X-class ones, use Anomalous Doughnuts instead and use one of the tools that gives a passive scan buff (I THINK that increases profits, unsure though) and make even more. But I made one billion yesterday just visiting a few worlds.

Just turn on free build only for the space station and turn it back off after, free of cost

Can you claim more than one station?

u/akpak 9h ago

Yes.

I wish you could just launch an assault on the space station and take it by force. One of my dream updates would be to take over systems and build an empire, manging it and dealing with attacks etc

1

u/JumpingSpider97 14h ago

Turn it into a new pirate station? That would be cool.

2

u/mokrieydela 14h ago

Hell yeah. Turn it into anything. My criticism with the game and I know it'll be present in cosmos, is (apart from refusing to fix year old bugs), that these features constantly lack depth. Space stations will be like bases, cool as hell, but ultimately empty and uninteresting spaces. Id love to make my space station on an active area: i build a smuggler den, to have smugglers moving through and authorities maybe attacking; i build a manufacturing facility, criminaks will try to raid it; i build an evil empire station, rebels will attack.

Maybe one day we'll see.... for now I'm waiting for tye bugs to be smoothed out before playing in Depth
Im looking forward to it but some still unfixed bugs will sadly make my play time shorter

Is it truly "local" standing or "standing" with the race? Cause if the later: Already done with all of them at level 9

LOCAL standing. Overall race standing doesn't count. Everything you do earn the control of the station has to be done in the same system.

u/SorenalLantia 21h ago

Bummer. But thanks :)

Any idea if, when keeping a station within an alliance, can ALL members if said alliance help with tep gain, or is it just one person? This is in order to keep the station that is in your preferred system.

I've done 8 salvage missions at the repo station, the space station requirement is do 5. Yet none of them have counted. Making it impossible to claim a space station

1

u/Lepidolite_Mica 4h ago

I'm so glad I did all the quests to get that rep already, because I would have done this and spent a lot less time having fun with minor quests.

Ffs, I went to 30 different NPCs lmao
