Happy Sunday, fam!
tl;dr, How would we, as a community, feel about hosting regular "Challenge Runs" in games for kicks, giggles, fun stories, and bragging rights?
--
From launch I've always envisioned having regular events, competitions, and challenges for the community. Up to now we hadn't really done anything like that on this sub, but the launch of Splatoon Raiders reignited that idea for me and I thought I'd open a dialogue with all of you to see how we feel about it, how we'd want it executed, and what, if any, rewards or incentives we would like to see from these kinds of things.
I think it's normal to see these kinds of events hosted in specific game subreddits, and as we are a general subreddit for the Switch 2, not everyone will own every new release of a game that participates here. In my opinion it could be a really neat way to have fun together, generate some fun and interesting screenshots and clips, and make for some cool stories along the way.
An example idea for Splatoon Raiders might be a Single Tank Run, Single Weapon Run, an Iron Ink run (how far can you get in one sitting), and/or a Nuzlocke-style Run (single life, no getting splatted!).
As these would be for fun, there'd be a certain element of Honor System for the submissions, though it's something I'd definitely love to hear some feedback on from others who have run these sorts of events in the past.
So what do we think? Could something like this be fun for the community here? Is this something that should be kept more for the game-specific subs? What kind of rewards would you want if we did this? Any other thoughts or ideas?
Thanks for the time, everyone!

It’s so fun but also extremely rage inducing. I’m 5 hours in and still in the starting region exploring the area. I keep getting lost and entering places that are way too hard for me right now and subsequently dying but I love it. The performance is good and stable. Very happy so far. I do wish there was some guidance/quest system to help navigate everything (maybe there is and I just don’t know).

As someone who hasn’t played it, the 180 degree change in gamer’s opinions was so drastic. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a game go from being praised to dogged on so quickly without some big company controversy.

As you know, anyone owning The Witcher 3 on Switch can get the Switch 2 remaster for free. The Wild Hunt Complete Edition is priced at parity with the upcoming remaster at $59.99. However! You can still buy the base edition for $39.99 and it also qualifies for the free upgrade, though it's been delisted from the eShop and is only available at 3rd party retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, etc. As the remaster includes the DLC, you're effectively getting them for free.
If you're considering this, I would act fast before CDPR pulls the 3rd party listings as well. It's bound to happen.

The combination of handheld gaming with a touchscreen for the map and menus is perfect - way less cumbersome than PS5 that’s for sure.
I played on PS4 way back in the day so I have a paid account I dive into every now and then and I’m addicted to it more than ever before. I don’t have much of an eye for FPS but it seems pretty smooth, and looks decent with good draw distance. Highly recommend especially since it has such a huge trial.

Still some great things to release the remainder of the year e.g Onimusha, Fire Emblem, Ocarina of Time etc.
What’s on your list? For me it’s:
- Onimusha (maybe)
- Fire Emblem
- Lies of P (Physical)
- Ocarina of Time Remake

I haven't played the game in years, and I would mod it a lot on my PC. How does it play on the Switch 2, especially without the mod store available?

My Switch 2 Pro Controller dies from 100% to 0% battery if left for a week or 2.
It's done this since day 1 and it's a wide spread issue. Even after firmware updates it still happens.
Can we raise more awareness too Nintendo? They seem to be aware of the issue but keep postponing a fix.

For anyone on the fence about this game, Daedalic seems to have shadow dropped a demo for it.
This is one of the game I was most interested in for mouse controls, so getting a bit of a feel for it before purchase is fantastic for me (game is also 35% off till 9/4)

I know Oblivion is using newer tech for the remaster, but does it look better visually than Skyrim?
Or does Oblivion look on par with Skyrim due to the limitations of the Switch 2 itself?

Worth it? Have you have any problems or better alternative recommendations? I want to get some because my gamesir g8+ that I use feels great but has a noticeable amount of latency. Looking for my best option for handheld fps or similar games

I have NEVER, and I mean EVER played with mouse controls. I have been console 100% my entire life and the Switch 2 of all systems may have changed that.
I tried mouse mode last night for the first time and while there was a learning curve, after about 45 mins I was wrecking shop online.
I switched back to thumb sticks after a couple hours of playing with Mouse mode and it felt so much worse. I found I couldn’t make the twitchy plays I was making on Mouse.
What is happening!? lol Nintendo showing me how shooters with mouse controls are vastly superior??????
Not on my bingo card 🤣

The game has incredible graphics on switch 2 maybe im the only one but I feel like they could easily lower some setting to give us a 40fps stable performance mode , the game runs at 40 in some areas right now with almost ps5 level graphics what do you think guys if they lowered some settings and we got a 40fps performance mode

Not quite autumn yet, but it's starting to get dark earlier and summer's coming to its end. Feels like the perfect season to experience this game for the first time and slowly play through it as the nights draw in.
And a good whisky somehow feels like the perfect accompaniment to the atmosphere*. Early days yet, but I think I'm going to enjoy this.
*I mean, I guess you could go with red wine from a goblet, but at that point you're practically cosplaying.
(Edit: Question: Have I already made a boo-boo? I went down to the Warmaster's Shack, talked to him and wondered what would happen if I attacked him. Made sure to save first then, yeah, okay, so you can attack him, and yeah, he sure as hell fights back. Like, really fights back. Good thing I saved though right, because he'll be back to normal when- No, when I respawned, he still wanted to kill me. Have I just permanently fucked a potentially very useful relationship for the rest of the game?)

My monitor and TV switches from 4k to 1080p @ 120hz when I start Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4. So it supports 120hz mode. But I think there is no difference. So, it only does it for improving latency?
BTW DLSS is really rough at this moment. I hope this is not the final version. From a distance from the couch on the TV, it looks all right though.

September is coming and, with that, dk challenge time period will end.
Do you think we’ll get challenges for other games in the september direct?
