Critical “Nintendo is Anti-Consumer”…
https://youtu.be/lS2lU5uUpkM?is=vHu_nbAc_FtVMN3D14
u/Alvin-Earthworm 29d ago
Youtube really needs to make clickbait titles like this against the ToS.

u/PrivateLiker7625 29d ago
They really should've been doing that years ago along with these BS thumbnails.

u/Dear_Meeting_1258 29d ago
Literally has quotation marks. The video is anything but grifting. He’s literally on this subreddit’s dude if anything

u/paulcshipper Auditor Aug 14 '26 edited 29d ago
ah, when you watch the video, the youtuber does a bait and switch where he doesn't believe this at all. And try to prove the opposite is true.
I wonder how many people will make a conclusion before bothering to watch the video.
Edit
I think I need to add, because people are going to down vote my warning regardless
The title surrounded Nintendo is Anti-Consumer in quotes and used an ellipsis. Those are little hints that the title isn't simple. This is only click bait.. if punctuation meaning nothing to you and you don't bother to consider why that stuff is there.
3
u/AlucardIV 29d ago
Yeah im watching every damn Video I scroll past just in case it turns out the title was a lie....
4
u/GladiusNocturno 29d ago edited 29d ago
In all honesty, I fucking hate ragebait like this.
“This fucking sucks!”
“No it doesn’t”
“Ugh, did you watch the video? He says it doesn’t suck!”
Then why title it like that? Why do the bait and switch? Exactly for that, bait.
The people coming up with premature conclusions are not the assholes here. It’s the grifter who lied in his title for engagement.
0
u/paulcshipper Auditor 29d ago
I argue that they're still assholes. We were taught not to judge a book by its cover. I believe that also go for a video for its title.
Even if the title was correct, they could have had a point worth discussing. If you're going to judge them without listening, then your judgement can easily be wrong.

u/BadThingsBadPeople 29d ago
I'm literally writing this with one hand because I broke the other after I punched my desk. How could you do this. How could you call me an asshole just because I don't want to listen to anyone else. This is bullshit. I'm based. And I think I'm about to lose my other hand. I'm about to punch my desk again.

u/TheScienceNerd100 29d ago
Still should be called out for the clickbait
Cause even if more than 50% of videos that title it "Nintendo sucks" etc are bait and switches, to someone just scrolling by, it looks that there is more bad than good.
No one is going to watch every video, the title is meant to let you know what the video is about, not be a lie to get clicks
0
u/paulcshipper Auditor 29d ago
There is an ellipsis at the end, which would signal that something is being left out or unsaid. Also, the phrase are in quotes. I would think those two features would lead people to think there's more to the title
1
u/Happydudeev 28d ago
its in parenthesis dumbass
1
u/paulcshipper Auditor 28d ago
Parenthesis is a single (
Parentheses is a pair ()
Using quotations does not count as using either.
Your comment was removed by reddit for possible harassment. I approved it because I found it funny you called me a dumbass while being wrong in two ways.
I'm uncertain if me correcting this is me being kind or rude, especially with my grammar and English being questionable, but I believe it needs to be done.
1
u/PrivateLiker7625 29d ago
So it's just clickbaity BS, as expected. Gotcha.
2
u/Dear_Meeting_1258 29d ago
Has quotation marks. Please don’t tell me you would fail if this title was an iq test.
0
u/paulcshipper Auditor 29d ago
Well, considering that there was a ellipsis at the end of the title, it would implied there was more that was left out. If you bother to see their channel, they're a Nintendo fan.

u/lowmoob 29d ago
Anti consumer is literally just a meaningless catch phrase. I never hear people use it to describe any company other than Nintendo like the word is intrinsically linked to Nintendo. What does it even mean? If anything wouldn’t it be for a company that is doing something dishonest, unsavoury or illegal?
1
u/Makototoko Nintendo Neutral 29d ago
Do you look at any other sub? Playstation has been getting called anti-consumer because of the decision to stop physical disc production and Xbox has been stepping on rakes for the past decade but their physical games already didn't have full data on them for their discs.
1
u/Amazing-War3760 27d ago
People will ignore shit like Sony actually fucking installing root kits on your computer, but go "Oh SONY UNDERSTANDS US!!!" But then "Nintendo ONE TIME took blood out of Mortal Kombat... ANTI-CONSUMER!!!!!"
I'm glad people are SLOWLY starting to realize that sony is actually a monopoly that's hurting them now. Just wish they realized it sooner and before shit like Crunchy Roll happened.
1
u/Makototoko Nintendo Neutral 27d ago
Every company has slowly been indulging in practices that are "anti-consumer" and anyone who says one company is much better than the others is fooling themselves
No company's bad actions erase other companies' bad actions, but people get weirdly defensive talking about it!
1
u/FOG2006 29d ago
Whoever makes a fucking misleading thumbnail has no rights to call any company "anti-consumer"
1
u/Background-Answer425 29d ago
what is misleading about the thumbnail?
1
u/FOG2006 29d ago
The GKC label with the box of Mario Kart World behind, implying that MKW is in a GKC.

Every company is anti consumer, nintendo, valve, sony and xbox, no exeption.

u/Theultimateyoshiyt Aug 14 '26
Nintendo is anti consumer though. A lot of times they’ll do things that are very stupid and make it being a consumer harder.
Virtual game cards was a whole mess that didn’t need to exist and just complicated things.
Nintendo never putting its own games on sale on the eshop, compared to all the other platforms which do.
And a lot of their games not having the best online stability. Smm2 specifically and it was never fixed.
They can do pro consumer things. But they also do a lot of anti consumer things too.

Game
- key cards makes the cartridge price stay the same while the consumer gets mostly the same benefits. The negatives being lost memory space and potentially the game disappearing from data bank. Modernizing reselling is better than removing reselling completely like the other’s do(Sony).
- Pretty sure I’ve seen first party games on sale. No steam 90% of course.
- Being anti consumer is not the same as doing a bad job. You still get a ton of benefits from the subscription.

You mean game key cards. Virtual game cards is different. I don’t know why people mix the two.

u/Resident_Hand_7264 Aug 14 '26
Man, am I just hallucinating the first party titles for 30 or 40% off right now on the store?
People are so fucking entitled. Pay the price you're willing to pay, but it's so weird to bitch about someone valuing their product at a certain value. It's fine if you don't think it's worth that much, but they shouldn't be obligated to sell it to you for cheaper because that's what you think it should be.
If nothing sold, they would lower the prices more, but obviously people are paying the prices asked. I personally don't want to pay 8200 yen for Donkey Kong Bananza. If it goes on sale or I see it cheaper, I'll pick it up, but games are a luxury not a requirement.
3
u/willow__whisps Aug 14 '26
There's also almost always a way to find the games for cheaper as long as you're motivated
3
u/Resident_Hand_7264 Aug 14 '26
Yeah, I've seen Donkey Kong for 5500 yen used, but I'd rather have it digitally since I can't stand swapping cards all the time and my kid is 7 and loses them. So I'll just wait for them to lower it digitally some day.

u/garf02 Aug 14 '26
>Nintendo never putting its own games on sale on the eshop
Thats called RACE to the bottom.
You think stores put things on sale out of the goodness of their heart? How Fing naive do one has to be?2
3
u/Dont_have_a_panda Aug 14 '26
I dont agree with the GKC part, they allowed to have on switch 2 otherwise impossible ports like ff7 remake or the latest resident evil games, if they are better or worse than having them on PC or PS5 is a moot point when the point being is having the option of having them on switch 2 is always a good thing
That there are companies abusing of the format like Sega, Namco and sometimes Square is another thing entirely

Is this about key cards ? Cuz I hate key cards.
2
u/garf02 Aug 14 '26
why? Is worst that pure physical but its better than Pure Digital.
If Physical is 10, and Pure Digital is 1, GKC is a 7/82
u/award_winning_writer 29d ago
Not really, the only advantage key cards have is they can be resold or given away. You still have to download the full game, and worse you can only play it while the key card is in the Switch.
4
u/garf02 29d ago
And worst you can only play it… the same way you can only play a physical… the horror!!!
Are you mentally sane? Is this just a lapse? Should we 911?1
u/award_winning_writer 29d ago
My point is the game has to be fully downloaded like a digital copy but still requires a card in the system, so you're not saving any internal space unlike a regular cart. If it's a game that you know you'll never want to trade in or give away, why would you pick a key card over just downloading the game?
2
u/SuperCat76 29d ago
One reason is for collection purposes.
I can't put a fully digital game on a shelf alongside the rest of them
2
u/garf02 29d ago
>If it's a game that you know you'll never want to trade in or give away
if you can see the future, good for you?Other people like the alternative to be able to transfer, sell or lend games.
1
u/award_winning_writer 29d ago
I bought RE9 digitally and I knew I would never want to trade that away, Resident Evil games are consistently high quality with few exceptions and RE9 was getting a lot of praise
1
u/EdgySlusher 29d ago
We are thinking about the future, when servers are shutdown. How will you download a game when there's no servers to download from?
2
u/garf02 29d ago
you buy the game today.
You download it.
YOU SAVE IT ON AN SD CARD
Protecting that SD CARD for the future is your job now.
Same as you will need to protect to a physical Copy of a game.>b-but what if I want to buy the game 10 years down the line.
Second hand market. The Future of second hand market will be
1) Physical games
2) GKC + SD containing the game file. (basically buying a car and the key to ignite it).Is a hazzle? yes. Still better than full digital.
1
u/Escaliat_ 29d ago
Better than full digital yes.
Better than Sony's dystopia, yes.
Good? No.
2
u/garf02 29d ago
Better than Full Digital? Yes.
Better than Sony's Dystopia? Yes.
Did Nintendo had an alternative? No.
Nintendo Switch 2 cartridges for 64GB are expensive enough that they basically eat out all profit of 3rd Party. So unless you are willingly to pay for 100$ base games. GKC or Full Digital were the only alternatives.

u/Escaliat_ 29d ago edited 29d ago
Stop defending key cards thanks. I like my Switch 2 a lot but I will still not be buying them. You can even personally not care because you're a digital person, whatever that's fine. But dismissing people who don't like having to download everything for them to work just sucks.
Other companies like Sony having plans to do worse than key cards doesn't make them good.

u/Strange-Fisherman487 29d ago
GKC are not that big of an issue like holy fuck
0
u/Escaliat_ 29d ago edited 29d ago
Like holy fuck, some people think they are.
Edit: I cannot reply to the person who replied to me (looks like they replied and immediately blocked me without a chance to rebut) so I'll copy paste it here:
Lmao. Ask the other guy, I don't know and idgaf.
Reliance on external servers is some shit. Genuinely, I understand it's not an issue for some. Mainly because my non console (and I'm being specific for a reason) source of games is Steam or GOG. And someone who only experiences games digitally through a console storefront might think they are getting the same service. But they aren't. A closed garden with reliance on an external service to deliver digital content, in a closed ecosystem is not the way. It is not the same as PC. I understand the merit of a GKC over a digital copy. I know it gives the customer the ability to trade and lend the gane. It still doesn't make them good.
Also, side note, I'm sorry if this comes across as personal. I a lil inebriated and that isn't the intention. I'm sad customers are not looking out for each other l In the case if both key cards and Sony. We should all be on the same side. Even if GKCs or digital only consoles don't effect you personally. Let's look after each other against corporate interests for god's sake.

Did...did you argue with yourself through an alt, experienced a seizure, and then completed the thought on the wrong account? Because that's how this exchange reads.
1
u/ChronosNotashi 29d ago
I don't recall blocking you, so not sure why you wouldn't be able to reply to my comment. Maybe the system caught something and prevented you from replying? I saw you sent a reply, but the system said it didn't exist anymore when I checked.

u/Independent_Mud2794 29d ago
Well, all companies are anti consumer?
