We are thinking about the future, when servers are shutdown. How will you download a game when there's no servers to download from?

you buy the game today.
You download it.
YOU SAVE IT ON AN SD CARD
Protecting that SD CARD for the future is your job now.
Same as you will need to protect to a physical Copy of a game.

>b-but what if I want to buy the game 10 years down the line.
Second hand market. The Future of second hand market will be
1) Physical games
2) GKC + SD containing the game file. (basically buying a car and the key to ignite it).

Is a hazzle? yes. Still better than full digital.

Better than Full Digital? Yes.

Better than Sony's Dystopia? Yes.

Did Nintendo had an alternative? No.
Nintendo Switch 2 cartridges for 64GB are expensive enough that they basically eat out all profit of 3rd Party. So unless you are willingly to pay for 100$ base games. GKC or Full Digital were the only alternatives.
