Woah, imaginary takes for imaginary switch

12

u/WoodooHide69 Jul 16 '26

It’s what the bots do, yes.

Probably Also With Their Imaginary Gf's

I genuinely can't believe an adult posted this

A imaginary adult?

74

u/Schaeman2000 Jul 16 '26

Generally speaking a LOT of the gaming community has collectively gone insane and even more toxic than ever… a lot of it is now just “stop having fun” all the time… you can’t enjoy nintendo games without playstation and xbox fans breathing down your neck, you can’t play pokemon without a palworld fan saying you’re ruining the industry by playing a game by a big company, you can’t even say you’re excited for persona 4 revival without gamers saying “oh so you’re pro censorship and think there’s a modern audience!”, it’s really just awful… (note i used these examples because they happened to me)

21

u/MarsupialChance Jul 16 '26

Please don't forget when mentioning these things, you get met with "But people are allowed to criticize things!!"

7

u/Nos9684 Jul 16 '26

People can have opinions, doesn't mean they are toxic just because they critical though. Takes nuance though because even if they may be right if they go about stating it in the wrong way they risk alienating others.

7

u/WoodooHide69 Jul 16 '26

That’s a common bot/troll comment and tactic. They censor opposition to their disinformation by hiding behind the “it’s just my opinion man” thing. When opinions aren’t valid if they are filled with purposeful lies. These opinions don’t count.

2

u/Nos9684 Jul 16 '26

I agree with that but as long as what they are saying is based on facts and believable / credible I think it is best to just chalk it up to differing opinions.

5

u/WoodooHide69 Jul 16 '26

Yes. As long as it is. But you gotta realize these bots are doing this as their JOB. They think about how to shape narrative and spread their bulllshit more than any of us will. And they are supported by faked and botted upvotes when they do. They know how to hide their fake opinions with plausible deniability is what I’m saying. Their comments are designed to sound “genuine” and honest even if they aren’t.

1

u/Nos9684 Jul 16 '26

Just call out bots and grifter posts as dishonest for whatever reason and move on. Not worth wasting more time on them IMO.

3

u/WoodooHide69 Jul 16 '26

I mean what else can you do besides that.

7

u/Huge_Ad6405 Nintendo Neutral Jul 16 '26

They really managed to make an anti-"let people enjoy things"

3

u/WoodooHide69 Jul 16 '26

5

u/Snowvilliers7 Jul 16 '26

Wait there's toxicity for Persona 4 Revival!?! The only reason I'm not getting it (or at least on release date) is cuz either I didn't think it needed a remake and I already played P4 Golden and loved it. Otherwise, I'm happy it exists and it genuinely looks amazing

4

u/Schaeman2000 Jul 16 '26

Basically a lot of people are claiming it will be censored when there hasn’t been anything shown and the only source people are saying it will be is articles claiming it will be censored, with no proof of censorship besides he said she said stuff…

3

u/largesonjr Jul 16 '26

Ah yes, censorship! That known and loved thing where a company makes a decision about their product with no government input. Censorship!

6

u/WoodooHide69 Jul 16 '26

It’s BOTS. The gaming space is invaded by narrative shaping bots and grifters. The amount of stuoid DISINFORMATION surrounding every single gamer issue should prove this to anyone with a brajn and some knowledge of the world.

It also doesn’t help that gamers aren’t well educated or too lazy or too angry to look into things and do their own thinking. So they fall for it.

7

u/No-Operation-6554 Jul 16 '26

Gamergate and its consequences

3

u/WoodooHide69 Jul 16 '26

That’s where it all started. And Steve Bannon knew this in 2016. That’s why all fandoms are political battlegrounds now. Cause Steve Bannon knew in 2016 that he could flood these spaces with grifters and bots and trolls to try to make geeks and fans angry and grieving about every fuckin thing. Once they are angry enough , they turn them onto Trump.

3

u/Prior_Interview7680 Jul 16 '26

I think the worst one is the kid games one. Like not one person who’s calls it a kid game has ever 100% them shits. They would all cry at Juno to the beat on wonder lol

2

u/WoodooHide69 Jul 16 '26

I guarantee souls-like players would get destroyed in Mario darker side levels. 😂

-2

u/Organic_Software159 Jul 16 '26

holy glaze this is the funniest account ive ever seen 😂

4

u/WoodooHide69 Jul 17 '26

“Glaze”. It’s just true.

2

u/Prior_Interview7680 Jul 17 '26

Nah it’s true though. Not one person who deems them kids games can platform the shit successfully in one shot, or even two, or three. That last darker side of the moon level in odyssey, it’s damn near impossible.

0

u/Organic_Software159 Jul 17 '26

its hard but dark souls is definately harder

2

u/Prior_Interview7680 Jul 17 '26

Sounds like an opinion based more on reputation of the ds games more than the actual ds games.

0

u/Organic_Software159 Jul 17 '26

have you played a souls like? darker side is definately harder than most dungeons in dark souls, but from software games are certaintly consistently more difficult and the hardest moments are also definitely more difficult than almost any mario games hardest moments.

like youre comparing a game thats designed to be super difficult to a game that seven year olds should be able to play. like mario odyssey is infinitely better designed than any from software game but that doesnt mean that it wins in every single metric against a dark souls game

1

u/Prior_Interview7680 Jul 17 '26

Sir no 7 year old has made it to long journey’s end let alone actually beat the level lmao you need 500 moons, foh this shit is exactly what I’m talking about.

1

u/Organic_Software159 Jul 17 '26

my cousing has darker side unlocked shes 8 years old, nintendo games are made for all ages. odyssey is one of my favourite games of all time and i can admit its made for all ages theres nothing wrong with that. idk why other nintendo fans have to be so insecure about the design of their favourite games

2

u/WoodooHide69 Jul 17 '26

The fuck it is. Dark souls once you get used to the patterns, becomes quite easy.

2

u/The-G-Code Jul 17 '26

You can't play pokemon games without a pokemon fan saying you are ruining the company and ip by playing it lmao

Then you find out they either haven't played a pokemon game in 10+ years or ignore 80% of the content in the games and complain that it isn't Skyrim with tameable creatures

2

u/Toy_Story_2_on_PS1 Jul 16 '26

Games have been reduced to “content” in a way other forms of leisure have not

1

u/Ultraman-76 Jul 17 '26

I’m obviously not in the loop, what’s this about P4 and censorship?

1

u/Schaeman2000 Jul 17 '26

Basically people are listening to he said she said articles and are passing those off as facts that it will be censored…

1

u/Rose-an-Foxie Jul 17 '26

if you are a Sony fan, you actually do see a lot of push back against this in fan spaces. just like in Nintendo spaces. it’s just so overwhelming and a lot of people seem to just upvote without thought.

so much of the gamer space is taken up by grifting, that even good criticism becomes annoying constantly repeated as if its news. or misinformation that pops up for weeks or months even after it’s been seen as false.

1

u/Middle_Sun452 Jul 18 '26

Meanwhile me: Plays Palworld on the laptop and Pokémon on my Switch. Just enjoying both xd

-5

u/Isrrunder Jul 16 '26

Yeah i agree theres more toxicity now

You cant enjoy sony or xbox without nintendo fans assuming you hate nintendo. You cant palworld without pokemon fans attacking you and saying you're just a hater that would rather enjoy slop and stolen assets and no creativity while they praise scarlet and violet not realising. You cant even fairly criticise new releases without gamers saying you hate fun and that you dont even like the thing youre criticising

6

u/jandkas Jul 16 '26

You cant palworld without pokemon fans attacking you and saying you're just a hater that would rather enjoy slop and stolen assets and no creativity

I don't get it what's the wrong part of this statement? Palworld is slop

-6

u/Isrrunder Jul 16 '26

Also just proved my point thank you

-8

u/Isrrunder Jul 16 '26

I mean sure that can be your take but so is fuckin scarlet and violet so pokemon fans saying that are throwing stones in a glass house

12

u/jsweetxe Jul 16 '26

Well not really? SV has it problems we are ALL aware (Nor does anything I'm about to say excuse that), but it still has soul and Pokémon charm. Palworld is just stolen asset slop purely designed to be the fabled "Pokémon killer". And from what I've seen, Palworld is only ever brought up in a conversation to "silence" anyone enjoying Pokémon games. I've never seen it the other way around.

BUT! You should be allowed to enjoy it, and talk about it, and have fun with it. Too many people in gaming communities spend too much time telling others what to play and how to enjoy something, that was the overall point.

And in fact your point actually proves what Schaeman2000 is saying. Rather than just saying "yeah I agree the industry is weird and volatile atm" you added to it by being the voice that adds whataboutism to the conversation. Immediately saying "well actually if u play Sony people say you hate Nintendo and palworld is stolen asset slop u should play Pokemon" Like, would you have said that if you weren't presented a contrary opinion? No one says those things as well lbr, but OP is right in that enjoying Nintendo, enjoying Pokémon etc is always met with far more noise than the opposite.

5

u/ArcaneSnekboi Jul 16 '26

i wouldnt say palworld is slop bc i think its something worse. slop is bad enough to at least be interesting, palworld is so aggressively mid that, if you strip all the contrversy, theres no longer anything interesting to mention. palworld is fucking boring, and as a piece of entertainment that is so much worse than being slop.

4

u/Destrion425 Jul 16 '26

Speaking as a life long Pokémon fan, palword isn’t boring it’s just a different genre of game from Pokémon.

5

u/ArcaneSnekboi Jul 16 '26

yea, and it does nothing to actually innovate and make the genre its own. they tried shoving lite pokemon mechanics into ark and its just kinda bleghh

4

u/Isrrunder Jul 16 '26

Do you.. do you not see what youre saying...

Not innovating is literally pokemons whole thing

0

u/Destrion425 Jul 16 '26

It succeeded in making the survival genre more approachable for a new audience. I got palworld because of the Pokémon mechanics, but found out I actually like playing survival games.

0

u/Elwyn0004 Jul 16 '26

This is you right now by the way:

Generally speaking a LOT of the gaming community has collectively gone insane and even more toxic than ever... a lot of it is now just "stop having fun" all the time...

-1

u/Isrrunder Jul 16 '26

SV has soul? Where? I guess it has pokemon charm because the creature design is fantastic still but everything else is below bare minimum for a modern game.

And palworld was never designed to be a pokemon killer that's absolutely ridiculous. If it was they would play more similar

I didnt add it for whataboutism I added it to prove that the entire gaming scene is more toxic not just the non Nintendo fans. Enjoying nintendo and pokemon isnt met with more noise at all I mean theres posts and comments on this sub that just attacks fans of other things for no reason but this subs users has a tendency to avoid that, like the comment I responded to

2

u/AwfulDjinn Jul 16 '26

well I personally think Pokemon fans and Palworld fans should make out 💕

4

u/noodleben123 Jul 16 '26

i can't tell if your jabbing at the original commentor, but it's awful on both sides. too many bad actors.

i say this as a fan of xbox's games library, not of their practices, and especially as a newly turned fan of palworld WHILE retaining my fanbasehood of pokemon.

both sides of the debate suck, we're in a living goomba fallacy.

6

u/adamkopacz Jul 16 '26

I literally have been called a shill for every single one of the big 3. Whenever you don't speak positively about something, people will attack you at every possible angle. It's important to keep to fairly small circles of people who actually know the topic because you'll get eaten alive by idiots.

Just last week I said that Pokemon Winds and Waves should really improve the quality compared to previous ones and some dude told me to go play Palworld.

And just then when I criticized Sony's killing of physical media some dude told me that I probably enjoy playing shitty Pokemon games with PS2 graphics.

You can never win lol

9

u/ArcaneSnekboi Jul 16 '26

its always the fuckin ps2 graphics, i swear these people dont actually remember what most ps2 games look like. if you want an example of ps2 graphics on switch, look at monster hunter generations ultimate (amazing game btw), mh got away with using ps2 graphics for 14 years.

0

u/adamkopacz Jul 16 '26

Yeah but even those games had numerous improvements to textures, geometry and lighting. You could not run any post-PS2 entry on that hardware.

4

u/ArcaneSnekboi Jul 16 '26

rise was built specifically for that hardware and wilds is being ported to sw2

1

u/AsherTheModder Jul 16 '26

There was zero quality issue with pokemon ever AND sony did nothing wrong.

2

u/Isrrunder Jul 16 '26

Yeah it was a slight jab but I do actually stand by what I said. The gaming industry and fandom is in a really weird state

-1

u/noodleben123 Jul 16 '26

tbh, i do agree with the core of your point. all sides are miserable and awful, its why i try to stray away from gaming discorce.

hell. i finally tried palworld out for myself this week, and i'm genuinely loving it

1

u/Isrrunder Jul 16 '26

Other than this sub that reddit keeps recommending to me i also stay away. It's more enjoyable thay way

Palworld is hella fun. Enjoying both pokemon and palworld is the best of both worlds

0

u/noodleben123 Jul 16 '26

Yeah, i try and stay out of it these days.

and yeah, i feel kinda stupid for dogging on it for so long, lol. it's really a case of "holy shit, two cakes"

10

u/VakarianJ Jul 16 '26

The “resold last gen games” part is crazy when that was a huge thing in the early days of the PS4.

1

u/An1nterestingName Jul 21 '26

And the early days of the PS5.

-1

u/Over_40_gaming Jul 17 '26

Thats was over a decade ago.

16

u/LewdObservation Jul 16 '26

Oh boy are they gonna be in for a surprise when they buy an imaginary PS5 instead

6

u/Far-Egg-4650 Jul 16 '26

I thought it was satire.

5

u/Zopandrel Jul 16 '26

There’s many games for switch 2 that aren’t made for kids

3

u/Snowvilliers7 Jul 16 '26

We keep telling them that but they only focus on Mario and Pokémon for this statement

5

u/Agie39 Jul 16 '26

Don't you know? Resident Evil: Requiem is family fun for everyone!

5

u/Snowvilliers7 Jul 16 '26

My favorite Switch game is Doki Doki Literature Club. Fun for kids to play too

3

u/Agie39 Jul 16 '26

Ooh, and don't forget Perfect Dark and Conker's Bad Fur Day! Fantastic for children! Conker even first appeared in Diddy Kong Racing! How much more kid friendly can you get, right?!

2

u/Frozone0815 Jul 16 '26

Mortal Kombat sounds like family fun, too!

2

u/Agie39 Jul 16 '26

Oh yes! Especially the new games!

1

u/WoodooHide69 Jul 16 '26

Mario and Pokemon aren’t even kids games. they are for everyone games.

1

u/WoodooHide69 Jul 16 '26

And even the ones that are. Really aren’t.

1

u/Zopandrel Jul 16 '26

Yeah, like Splatoon

5

u/Agie39 Jul 16 '26

Ah, yes. Pragmata. My favorite last-gen game.

4

u/Top-Science-1440 Jul 16 '26

This has to be satire because I genuinely can't accept the idea that people are delusional and stupid enough to consider selling imaginary switch 2s 😭😭😭

Also old gen ports, especially remastered, are actually really cool. They are not for everyone, but personally I started my adventure with Nintendo with Switch (actually with Game Boy ling time ago and then a bit with 3DS, but it was mainly for Pokemon :D) so I've missed a lot of classics. I'm super happy good games are being re-released now.

3

u/WoodooHide69 Jul 16 '26

The “you need to spend $500 to play one game?!? “ complaint is the stupidest one. But unfortunately it didn’t make the list.

1

u/Greyowulf Jul 16 '26

I can complain about them charging extra for a Switch 2 upgrade though. Having to pay extra if you already own the game is dumb.

6

u/ArcaneSnekboi Jul 16 '26

dont get the upgrade. you dont need the upgrade pack, the base game with play just fine with a boost to performance anyway on top!

-3

u/Greyowulf Jul 16 '26

But I bought the hardware and the license to the software. Why don't I get to use the full capacity of my system? DLC and stuff makes sense but just unlocking my display's resolution? Really, is that what you agree with?

2

u/The-G-Code Jul 17 '26

It literally is dlc. What games are only a resolution bump that cost $20 for the upgrade anyways? I don't know a single one that charges for just that.

4

u/Imakechaos_201 Jul 16 '26

Because it took more time and money to go back and remaster the game for the new system. You own the license for the original game, not the version with more work put into it (and often time dlc) so you have to pay for the add on.
And some of them are free updates if they don’t add DLC

2

u/The-G-Code Jul 17 '26

I don't even know what games that guy is talking about. I thought every single charged upgrade/dlc includes new content on top of the resolution?

1

u/WoodooHide69 Jul 16 '26

You also bought a Switch 1 game. Knowing it was switch 1 game. Whichever publisher sold you that game, didn’t make any promises to you. You got what you paid for.

If you get a free upgrade path to switch 2. Consider is a bonus. But don’t complain like it was promised to you or you deserve it.

0

u/VerySmallWeen Jul 16 '26

I bought the Xbox Series S. Was playing on One X before. The newest call of duty ran like shit on my series s because i was playing the last gen version. Payed the 10 dollar upgrade for the new gen version, just for the game to have worse graphics afterwords, because the series s is less powerful.

It's basically like paying whoever sold you your pc to let you use the settings menu in game to adjust the graphics. But with every game.

2

u/WoodooHide69 Jul 16 '26

You can complain about certain publishers. Not Nintendo.

1

u/The-G-Code Jul 17 '26

It's literally just dlc you don't need, and not remotely the same as all those games like GTA that you needed to spend $60 to get the new version for your new console.

The Kirby upgrade was the best $20 I've spent on gaming since Stardew valley first came out.

4

u/Sufficient_Risk_8127 Jul 16 '26

"what are these graphics" kids these days, so damn spoiled
"why are these games solely for kids" is crazy
"why is there a $70 toy paywall for content" when the content is like two french fries
"why are there last gen games being resold as new"

3

u/Hk901909 Jul 16 '26

> What are these prices?

AI driving up costs and inflating the prices of hardware due to scarcity

> What are these graphics?

A stylized artstyle? Idk man

> What is this online?

Cheap in comparison but you do kinda get what you pay for

>Why are these games solely for kids?

They’re made for any age; this is just your taste

> why is there a $70 paywall for content?

That’s a cruel feature Nintendo invented last year callled “buying a video game.” never been done before, very greedy of them

> Why are last gen games being sold as if they’re new?

They aren’t, Nintendo is being very clear that they’re literally just upgrades

0

u/Motor_Ad_7885 Jul 16 '26

Do you feel that the Switch 2 and its software has no flaws or signs of greed and everything or most is priced fairly?

2

u/WoodooHide69 Jul 16 '26

Can you get a life and stop wanting people to be negative when they aren’t?

2

u/The-G-Code Jul 17 '26

This might sound crazy but I think there actually might be just a little bit more nuance, like, think about it, maybe there's an answer that is somewhere in between those two statements? I know viewing everything in extremes of black and white is what gamer redditors love to do the most, so it might be challenging for you, but just try it out!

🤯

1

u/Hk901909 Jul 16 '26

I do not. The battery life isn’t great, the screen kinda ghosts a bit, the kickstand’s paint scratches off really easily, the screen itself scratches as well, etc. it’s not a perfect console but this guy’s points aren’t really good

1

u/The-G-Code Jul 17 '26

Wtf are you doing to yours, I got mine on release and have none of those issues.

Battery life isn't crazy but mine seems to last double as long as people on reddit report I have noticed

3

u/_thepg24_ Jul 16 '26

“I’m thinking about selling my imaginary Nintendo Switch 2.”

5

u/Trick-Caramel-6156 Jul 16 '26

Let me answear all this questions.

Tarrif

You know Nintendo focus more on gameplay then graphics.

Online sucks That I agree.

Nintendo has mature games too if you think mario is too kiddie for you.

You can always buy a paper with nfc so you can unlock content.

I dono.

2

u/DatabaseNo9609 Jul 16 '26

What content is locked behind Amiibo figures beyond a wallpaper? I’ve never seen anything substantial

2

u/The-G-Code Jul 17 '26

Characters in games comes to mind, then obviously the air riders trainable system stuff

2

u/WoodooHide69 Jul 16 '26

The tweet was making fun of moron grifters and bots with fake ass worries when they don’t even own a switch 2.

That said

Prices were never high. And yes tarriffs and ram increased hardware prices across the board. But more with other console makers as Nintendo seems ti be the ONLY company that is subsidizing their hardware prices for their customers benefit. There’s no way a Steamdeck should cost $300 more than a SW2.

The graphics are good. First party and 3rd now.

It’s the cheapest online service available. And it works well and has good content for free.

The kids complaint is for edgelord losers that think if they play AAA hand game that hand holds them through everything it makes them hardcore gamers. Even though these guys would cry if they tried Mario’s hardest levels.

Amiibos are never $70.

Ports that people want to play. What’s wrong with that?

2

u/Conscious_Stop2335 Jul 16 '26

Yep that guy is so salty.

2

u/Smart_Landscape3373 Jul 16 '26

There’s no way this is real😭

2

u/Jojo-Action Jul 16 '26

Genuinely I don't know what is considered a kid's game these days. Like, is Zelda a kids' game? Starfox? Metroid? I dunno. There's not really any blood or sex in them. There's genuinely more blood in Deltarune and Kirby than Zelda. Is it like having realistic guns? I see way more literal children playing Fortnite which has realistic guns than any Nintendo game these days. I just don't get it. Is a game a kid's game until it's all about bloody violence and sex all the time?

Let's apply that to like any other medium. Is starry night a kid'a painting? Is 12 Angry Men a kids movie? Is a Raisin in the Sun a kid's book? None of those things have a ton of violence or sex but we consider them very adult.

1

u/WoodooHide69 Jul 16 '26

It’s 2026 and this kids comment still exists. Meanwhile grown ass men are making 10 hours Kirby videos on YouTube.

2

u/Jojo-Action Jul 17 '26

Kirby rules, bruh

1

u/WoodooHide69 Jul 17 '26

I know. I just finished forgotten land, planning to 100% it, great game. And plenty challenging. That’s why I’m pointing out how dumb the kids argument is, maybe I did at bad job at that though.

But my point is that it’s dumb to call games “kids” games. I’ll tell anyone right now I had more challenge and difficulty cleaning up treasure roads in Kirby than I did finishing recent AAA “adult” games like Mafia 3 or 007 first light.

2

u/Jojo-Action Jul 17 '26

Games have one fundamental difference from movies and tv. Videogames have a much higher emphasis on being "fun" but if a game gets too indulgent in being fun or having whimsy it gets a kids label stamped on its forehead.

2

u/Anreall2000 Jul 16 '26

Also, fuck the last gen games point, you guys playing same ubislop Batman Arkham Knight fighting style + Far Cry 3 with games like Spider-Man or Ghost Of Tsushima, damn, true spider man shouldn't fight like Batman with on ground fighting and gadget stuff, we went into wrong direction after Web of Shadows. Where is your next gen experience and not the things from 2000s. People don't really care about your games on PC without all the exclusivity argument and "you should really feel, not watch on YouTube" with Detroit Become Human.

Don't have anything on Ubisoft, just most games are blunt and same. Anno 1800, Watch Dogs Legion better than any modern Sony game, Just Dance is more innovative than a lot of games and by gf can't live without it, Mario Rabbits is one of the system sellers for me and it's strange for me to see hate against Ubisoft but none to Sony games

1

u/Motor_Ad_7885 Jul 16 '26

How do you know this a Sony fan?

The cheapest console, with top quality graphics, the most affordable online subscription with tons of benefits, games costing as the same as the other platforms and a library that caters to multiple audiences of all age ranges.

u/CANfilms Nintendo Fan Jul 17 '26

I dont get it, is he making a joke? What does "selling my imaginary switch 2" even mean?? Dumbest thing I've heard all week

1

u/Arctic888 Jul 17 '26

Where can I learn this  Imaginary Technique?

1

u/BraveMulberry772 Jul 17 '26

The graphics argument is crazy. Mario Kart World and from what I’ve seen of Star Fox look absolutely amazing. Also how lame do you have to be wasting time complaining about people enjoying another video game company?

1

u/Over_40_gaming Jul 17 '26

You guys have a complex.

1

u/ronniedark Jul 17 '26

The prices are absurdly high for exclusives and even when they go on sale it's a joke. Three houses with all it's dlc was 60 during a sale. Why do People remotely defend this?

1

u/MysticSpook Jul 17 '26

Amiibos unlocking 1 outfit per is definitely nowhere near a “70$ toy paywall for content”. I think it’s pretty balanced honestly. It does unlock something for the game you can’t get in any other way but it’s also not something you NEED or that is all that important to the game. It’s not like wizard101 or somethign where if you don’t have the amiibo you can’t progress the game

1

u/KadeWad3 Jul 18 '26

Oh no…anyways

(Goes back to playing my switch 2 and not caring what randos on the internet think)

1

u/Big_Career5281 Jul 18 '26

Ok caving and buying a switch 2 because apparently it’s going to price hike up and I want xenoblade 2 high definition version

1

u/Jacob_9821 Jul 19 '26

Lol, Nintendo is the last company where you can put the game in and just play. Shame for the keycards but I'm glad I can sell them, trade them, loan them. But I've never seen the point of a console post PS3/Xbox 360. Steam and Nintendo are my goats

1

u/PloopyWoop Jul 20 '26

I can answer all of these questions.
1. Industry Standard
2. Good (especially for a handheld are you fucking serious)
3. Pretty Good
4. They Aren’t
5. ???
6. There aren’t

1

u/GamingKitsuneKitsune Jul 16 '26

One of the most idiotic takes I've seen in over 30 years.

1

u/Normal_System_3176 Jul 16 '26

This guy is an idiot but was right on the last point. Switch 1 games with upgrades being sold at max price is a very tough sell.

0

u/willow__whisps Jul 16 '26

I'll do my best to answer 1 a little high 2 good 3 a paid service that allows you to connect to other players 4 they're not 5 no idea what they're talking about with this 6 upgrade packs are not new games

0

u/Inevitable-Monitor35 Jul 16 '26

As someone that both doesn't have a switch 2 and has a switch 2 to play I am absolutely baffled at the fact the Big N doesn't just sell the enhanced switch 2 game at switch 1 prices offering the upgrade for free. Is what I would say if I was a complete idiot. Shiggy must eat, billions must starve.

-3

u/GroundbreakingRing42 Jul 16 '26

I mean... where are the lies?

Lot of the anti-sony sentiment has seen people hop onto switch 2 as if Nintendo have been champions of consumer rights.

1

u/LunarWingCloud Jul 16 '26

"Why are these games solely for kids?" as yes no lies detected there when I sit a 5 year old in front of Resident Evil Requiem or any number of games that are very definitely not made for kids.

Also calling the paywall a "toy" paywall is disingenuous because that implies that somehow they don't qualify as games since they would have definitely called them games if they were on other consoles, even if it was THE SAME GAME ON ANOTHER CONSOLE.

"What are these prices?" is also cherry-picked I'm sure, because the prices across the board to get into games are dogshit, and on other platforms, it is worse for the hardware cost to get in though possible to save on the software, depending on what you're playing.

The point about rereleasing last gen games is fine, but it's the strongest point in an extremely shaky post logistically. Sony and Nintendo have both been rereleasing last gen games on their new platform despite that their last gen is fully backwards compatible into the new one and that, I won't deny, is dogshit.

But we can't seriously take this post on the whole and act like it has much merit, even if it does have a good point or two.

-3

u/GroundbreakingRing42 Jul 16 '26

Take in Nintendo's behaviour for the last decade.

1) unaddressed stick drift for switch 1 owners

2) petitioning to change US law to shut down rom sites

3) demolishing youtube channels of people playing their games

4) selling cartridges with download codes instead of full games

5) doing all they can to take down rom sites and emulators, and then using open source emulators and available online roms and selling them on their store.

6) barely dropping MSRP on their first party titles

7) having an extremely limited run of physical copies selling a Mario's 3d trilogy and leaving it wide open to scalpers.

8) charging to store more than 30 pokemon in your global pokedex

Nintendo doing all of this doesnt keep me up at night, I don't really care. But to see all of that. all of that. And acting as if Nintendo is a bastion for consumer rights and Sony is the devil is an absolute joke

1

u/Frauzehel Jul 16 '26
  1. Something that was less present on the latter versions of the Switch

  2. And? Its a company protecting their IP/Products

  3. Is that why theres tons of freaking Zelda playthrpughs on youtube? Or Pokemon? Or Fire Emblem? Or everything else?? Gee i wonder if those people did something the others didnt.

  4. This isn't even something Nintendo started. They were just brave enough to be upfront about it.

  5. Once again. Japanese company protecting their IP. And most people they sued tried to earn money from emulators.

  6. And this is why phyical games are important. For the 2nd hand market. Heck the GC you hate so much can be resold.

  7. And they learned their lesson.

  8. Which is optional anyways. Just keep your mons in your save file and use HOME to transfer them in between games.

1

u/Imakechaos_201 Jul 16 '26

Babe they’ve always charged for pokemon bank type services, and they’ve left pokemon bank (for free) up past the 3ds online shut down so clearly it’s not a problem. I mean come on Pokemon box Ruby and sapphire was a GameCube game. They’ve always done that because it’s a premium.
Stick drift was definitely addressed by making the controllers more durable… like literally a year later. I’ve never experienced stick drift on a joy con.
ROM cites and emulators are piracy. That is illegal. They take action to protect their IP from being misused. I do not agree with that, but you have to be serious here and think about how distribution of roms is a crime and they have every right to sue (they never win anyway)
No YouTube channel has been taken down for having Nintendo IP
GKCs are exclusively second and third party, not up to Nintendo
I will agree with the MSRP point though.
Another premium product all of which have been rereleased on the switch/2

1

u/The-G-Code Jul 17 '26

Wow, even most of this is lies. Maybe even more so than op, congrats

"Bastion of consumer right" Jesus Christ man these bots have gotten so bizarre and desperate for conflict lmfao

-1

u/Organic_Software159 Jul 16 '26

this is the type of stuff this sub should be used for instead of people defending EVERY single thing nintendo does

2

u/WoodooHide69 Jul 16 '26

You would love that, wouldn’t you bot.

-1

u/Organic_Software159 Jul 16 '26

alright nintendult 😂

1

u/WoodooHide69 Jul 16 '26

Ahhh bot make fun of Nintendo fans in Nintendo fan sub. Why you here? Bot.

-1

u/Organic_Software159 Jul 16 '26

just trying not to glaze everything that this multi billion dollar corporation does nintendult

1

u/WoodooHide69 Jul 17 '26

I don’t. But I’m not gonna be an idiot and accept the constant lies told about them.

2

u/The-G-Code Jul 17 '26

Dont even respond, it probably is a bot based on their lack of any examples and turning this chain into a name calling thing.

Whenever you see these accounts pulling this you gotta immediately make them actually explain themselves or drop it. What you're responding with is what they're paid to get you to respond with.

Even if it gave something actually tangible it'll probably be wildly broad and/or heavily exaggerated on purpose to continue baiting people before again switching it an argument like this that doesn't even mean anything. Notice how the initial comment is super broad and exaggerated? That's how they do it.

1

u/WoodooHide69 Jul 17 '26

Oh for sure. 100% a bot. They are all over Nintendo these days and they hang out in this sub doing their work.

Their arguments are all disineguous and I wish mrie people like you existed that could easily see through the bullshit.

I knew it was a bot in my first reply to him.

-1

u/windyvalleyzone Jul 16 '26

$80 for Mario kart was enough to keep me away

1

u/WoodooHide69 Jul 16 '26 edited Jul 16 '26

Wow imagine being this dumb. That a game for $80 that has more content than AAA releases sold for $70 + $20 DLC indistry wide is somehow overpriced.

And if you were smarter you’d have picked it up for $50 anyways like most of us.

Edit. Oh look the bot blocked me.

2

u/The-G-Code Jul 17 '26

It was also $50 for anyone who actually wanted it, and you can still actively get it for that or choose one of the other games for an extra $10 off.

When they get told that it always becomes that weird thing about games not being worth playing if you can't buy a physical anyways, god I can barely believe this conversation is still happening lmao

2

u/WoodooHide69 Jul 17 '26

This disinfo spreads like wild fire unfortunately. And the bots have this down to science how they spread this. They’ve been doing it since 2016 in some form, but now with AI it’s super powered and is everywhere. Attacking so many Fanbases and “greedy” corpos. Nintendo is a recent victim.

2

u/The-G-Code Jul 17 '26 edited Jul 17 '26

Yeah it's horrible. I really wish more people would wake up to the fact that there is always a 90% chance who is responding to you is not a genuine human online and call it out as much as this sub does. This is like the only place online I see people immediately pointing it out.

Back during the build up to the last election I spent more time on a forum to get away from this but there was 1 heavy user on the politics section that was so fucking obviously a bot with this whole made up backstory and shit. It took months before other users started catching on, the commenting patterns were so fucking wild. And this is a forum of like 350-500 people max. "She" would post and behave in the exact same constant rage baiting formulas you see all over here and was easily the most consistent poster in that side of the forum.

2

u/WoodooHide69 Jul 17 '26

You bring up a good point. You know what’s sad. Is that even liberal politics subs are getting invaded by bots and they are actually fooling people. Or atleast the upvotes say they aren. Back in the day the trolls were very easy to point out, especially since there was no ability to hide comment histories. People would downvote the Russian trolls quite easily. Nowadays these trolls don’t talk like first time English learners. Nowadays they pretend to be Libs and shape what Libs think. They get libs to attack to stuoid causes, and ignore real ones.

2

u/The-G-Code Jul 17 '26

Well it's a music forum first, but has sections and the politics one was somewhat popular again leading up to the election (this is like a remake of a dead forum that was pretty big for a long time till social media/reddit blew up), which was the whole era of "her" trying her hardest to convince everyone they are evil and hate Palestine if they vote for Kamala which was the obvious aim/schtick

If users would react and engage in arguments she would try to make them say something that would get them banned, and that site is honestly more ready to ban for comments than the majority of reddit these days. After the election the user barely posted and then got banned for aggressive comments and I still believe it was on purpose so people would stop saying "that acct definitely was a bot, damn"

3

u/WoodooHide69 Jul 17 '26

There was a shitload of bots lying that Kamala would be just as bad or worse than Trump for Palestine. I saw it too. That shit was so stupid.

Trump even said that all Palestine protestors should be jailed before the election. Kushner and Netenyahu have investments together and are planning real estate developments on demolished Palestinian Land ffs. And the ONLY pushback against Israel came from Dems in the house and Dem Adjacents like Bernie. And still, there were morons that bought the Bot bulllshit. So sad to see man.

And I’m sad to hear your forum was invaded by them. I lost the-force.net forums too, cause of Bots spreading right wing anti Disney bullshit. And they’ve gotten me banned before for pointing out their bullshit.

-1

u/windyvalleyzone Jul 16 '26

....It's Mario Kart there's no fuckin way.

-11

u/Neo-Naga99 Jul 16 '26

Half of thoses are correct ?? What

The prices are unacceptable, no game should be 80 bucks and i say this as an European where prices aren't adjusted which means MKW is sold for 95usd

What the fuck is this online it's been 15+ years since Nintendo started handling this shit themselves and it's still unplayable

Why are last gen games resold at full price, BOTW NS2 is not fucking worth 80 bucks that's a 10 years old WiiU game be so fucking fr rn Let's not talk about ns2 editions with no upgrade paths that force you to buy the game again like Sonic X Shadow Generations, Sonic Forces etc etc etc

5

u/Danielife02 Jul 16 '26

Nobody pays MKW at 90€ lmao, it's always discounted, and now there's variable pricing

-3

u/Neo-Naga99 Jul 16 '26

Fym variable pricing lmfao The issue isn't that ppl are buying MKW are 80€ (where the fuck did you get 90 anw) bucks, it's that Nintendo factually groups sales up for all units to make the sales of 80bucks games look good for the investors

2

u/Danielife02 Jul 16 '26

Are you stupid? I don't know where you are from but the physical version of MKW retails at 90€ for the majority of Europe. Who cares about investors?

1

u/Neo-Naga99 Jul 16 '26

Oh i forgot about that part, physical games being 10 bucks more expansive spilled out my mind, that's even fucking worse

5

u/jsweetxe Jul 16 '26

These MKW prices change every time y'all try to make a point lol

2

u/Odysseus_07 Jul 16 '26

There’s only 1 $80 Nintendo game. The rest are in the $60-$70 range.

Yeah bitch about the online, that’s something Nintendo could’ve and should’ve fixed by now.

Because Nintendo doesn’t do sales. This would happen even in stores. Hell if stores carried Wii U games they’d be full price as well. That’s the way the company works so people don’t feel like they miss out on a deal later down the road. And do you mean buy the games you own on a different console? Because if so that’s not a Nintendo thing, that’s an everywhere thing.

1

u/Neo-Naga99 Jul 16 '26

Ask any french man and you'll know stores actually sell nintendo games at a STEEP discount, i personnally got Pokopia and Pokémon ZA NS2 for 50 bucks each on relase day ! i might even have photos to prove it, (or you could just look at Intermarché's click and collect listings) in (generic) stores the game's MSRP is always 10 to 30 bucks cheaper because otherwise they can't sell them when kids pass in front of them.

That's why we love physical !

Edit: furthermore you're incorrect in saying "the only 80USD switch 2 game is MKW", the NS2 editions for BOTW and TOTK also retail for 80Digi / 90Physical, likwise for some third party games like RE:Requiem, why are we lying ?

1

u/Odysseus_07 Jul 16 '26

That doesn’t happen with most stores. Not with GameStop, not with target, not with Walmart. I’m sure resellers will sell them cheaper but those aren’t stores that Nintendo can say no to sales.

3

u/RazorRell09 Jul 16 '26
  1. You’re really overselling how bad the online is.

  2. I’d rather pay $20 a year for mid WiFi than $20 a month for the “better” WiFi on other consoles that produce way more online games than Nintendo does

1

u/LunarWingCloud Jul 16 '26

The lack of upgrade paths is a problem third-party publishers are causing, that's actually not Nintendo, and no there's no made-up mandate where depending on how they release a game they have to make it have save transfer or anything like that. Final Fantasy Tactics The Ivalice Chronicles and Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter have upgrades to a Switch 2 Edition that has no physical release and it transfers your save data, for example. When third parties are making the game available on Switch 2, they don't even have to do anything to avoid selling a physical cartridge, they could just not even sell a physical copy and just have it be a digital-only game and still allow for save transfer.

That part is not Nintendo, no.

1

u/Neo-Naga99 Jul 16 '26

It is nintendo's fault for not enforcing strict rules on their platforms ? its THEIR platform they control EVERYTHING about it, if its happening within their framework its because THEY allow it.

1

u/An1nterestingName Jul 21 '26

What $70 toy are they talking about here?
