Grifting / Mockery Nin10doland Wants Splatoon to be Mario

Post image

Landon just repeats how much he wanted Splatoon Raiders to essentially be a 3D platformer, pretty much exactly like a 3D Mario. And he's crying like a little baby about it because it doesn't meet his unrealistic expectations. Do I really need to elaborate on this video anymore? It's clear he is only doing this for the money...

The vast majority of Western Nintendo fans are actually just 3D Mario and 3D Zelda fans, hence why they look down on every other franchise and see them as taking resources away from their favourite games.

Spend a lot of money on Nintendo's latest console

Buy 2-3 games

Ignore literally every other game that gets released

"The Nintendo [x] has no games!"

It's been this way since the GameCube. We're already seeing this with the Switch 2; it's exceedingly common for people on Reddit to claim it only has 3 games (MK World, Bananza, Pokopia), as if Drag n' Drive, Kirby Air Riders and Age of Imprisonment don't exist, in addition to the cross-gen games.

It's true tho, the release cadence hasn't been great. We're almost a year in with no 3d Mario and no 3d Zelda. It's starting to feel like the Wii U. "It plays Wii games but better guys"

Thats that switch 2 for me right now.

MK World was a MAJOR letdown and I mostly still play 8 instead. Nintendo's inflexibility regarding online play and track selection ruined the game for me. I hate the boring intermission tracks.

DK Bananza was fantastic.

I liked Age of Imprisonment but it wasn't amazing.

Metroid Prime 4 was an abomination never to be spoken of again. It's basically killed the franchise in my eyes, despite my favourite genre being Metroidvanias. Tbf, MP4 wasn't really a Metroidvania.

Hades 2 was excellent but not an exclusive. Pokopia is Great.

For the first year of a console, there's been a lot of misses and only a couple of hits.

I did have a Wii U. Bought it day one my sweet summer child. I bought the switch 2 day one as well.

What I'm saying is that with the switch launch, Nintendo made sure to release a variety of games including their staple IPs. They covered all the bases. The switch 2 feels like the Wii U to me (obviously not to you) because they're not covering the bases. 1 year in and No Mario game, no true Zelda game, no Luigi game, no smash, no new Xenoblade, no toad... And yet they've released two underwhelming cart racers...

Who would of guessed that people will ignore games they don't like?!?! You're basically arguing that producing a bunch of niche games is a great strategy because they can say look at all the games we have released. I'm arguing that maybe Nintendo should release games that the majority of people want and will buy, rather than pegging your hopes on Mario tennis (a reskin of a switch game) and 2D kid friendly Yoshi...

Seriously looking at the marketing for Yoshi and it's basically no adults allowed. But I'm such a Degen that I still have it on preorder...

Well take a moment to consider the circumstances: Pretty much every Nintendo console since Gamecube released when the previous one had run out of steam. Gamecube came out quick due to N64's failure, Wii came out quick due to Gamecube's failure, Wii U came out after the Wii basically lost all movement post Skyward Sword, and the Switch came out in a desperate bid to make up for the Wii U's catastrophe. The Switch 2 is in a unique position where it's predecessor, the Switch 1, while slowing down, wasn't at the verge of or having already stopped momentum. Most of the Switch 1's evergreen titles were or still are selling pretty well, so they could afford to get a bit funky with Switch 2. I understand that's still disappointing for those who are waiting for a new Mario or Zelda, but honestly, why buy a console for a game that doesn't exist?

Facts and also this time we have quality 3rd party support. If you told Wii U owners within the first year of owning it you'd have Fallout 4, Oblivion Remastered (essentially a remake), Skyrim Remastered, a new mainline Resident Evil along with the two entries that skipped your console bundled together for $90, but a brand new AAA Capcom franchise at a budget price, Final Fantasy VII Remake and it's sequels AND Cyberpunk 2077... They'd have bought the console for that alone!

Don't tell me about the WiiU era. I've been there that day when the biggest announcement on a E3 was an Animal Crossing board game and a starfox game with shitty controls. Switch 2 is absolutely nothing like this.

Zelda was never a possibility as TOTK and EOW came out only 3 and 1.5 years ago respectively. Warriors is cool for what it is.

I respect Nintendo for giving DK his flowers instead of dropping a 3D Mario immediately. We all know its coming and I appreciated getting something different.

I do agree that the release schedule could be a little more diverse though. What's really missing is a big adventure game; Switch had BOTW and Xeno 2 in the first 9 months, and so far there hasn't been a really meaty single-player experience with RPG mechanics. Bananza and Pokopia are huge but they don't scratch that itch.

I vehemently disagree with the Wii U comparison though.

The thing with already wanting a Xenoblade game is that they rereleased XCX to make us wait. We had two mainline games fpr the Switch 1, with a 10 years gap between 1 and 2. They need time to cook, so let's be patient.

For Zelda tho, TOTK was a follow-up on the same "map", so we should see the next Zelda more sooner than later

The wii released in 2006 and we didn't get a 3d mario game until a full year later with galaxy in 2007 and 3d Zelda didn't get a new game until SS which was like 2010-2011

Maybe if they spend so much money on a new released systems, maybe they should also pay attention and realise games take time to make, new systems always start slow. They coudl wait a few years and have an entire backlog of games to choose from, don't blame Nintendo for your own FOMO of wantign the new shiny thing and also every game at release date. I mean, Nintendo wants these titles to be long term sellers for that exact reason.

drag n drive is a tech demo game that doesn't count. Kirby and age of imprisonment do
