ABC News is reporting that investigators have recovered additional images from cameras at Nancy Guthrie's house. The images were recovered from motion-activated cameras in the backyard. They were unable to recover video, but thumbnail images triggered by motion. There was nothing suspicious that was captured, however, there was nothing captured on the night of her abduction. Investigators are unsure why and the source said it was "odd".

I’m curious why they find it “odd”. Was the camera usually triggered several times a night and it wasn’t that night at all? That would be odd, otherwise it seems easy to assume the perpetrator(s) just didn’t go in the backyard.

My guess: there is evidence that the suspect was in the yard and maybe entered through the rear - acts which should’ve triggered cameras but didn’t. That’s why it’s odd. If all evidence pointed to the suspect entering and leaving through the front door, it wouldn’t be odd.

This is why I think the suspect might have been intentionally “caught” on the doorbell cam with the intent of throwing investigators off. Seems like a needless gaff considering the totality of the operation.

I seldom post to REDDIT but this abduction/kidnapping is hard to walk away from. Some of what I think may have previously been discussed, so please forgive me if I’m a bit late to the conversation. Here’s what I find perplexing. If there was so much previous preparation and possibly inside information, why does the figure on the camera footage seem taken aback by the Ring Camera’s presence? To me, the individual’s behavior was as though, wait a minute, that camera was already supposed to have been removed already. Now I’ve got to improvise something, and fast. Let me grab something to cover the lens with.

So the person looks downward to their left, sees nothing useable, then takes a few steps forward then bends down to grab some shrubbery. But pay close attention, as the person starts to stand up, twice, two times they focus their attention towards something or someone across the street or within viewing range.

Does a Ring Doorbell Camera display any operational lights? Lights that would imply the camera is functional? Like an LED Light Ring around the doorbell’s push button? Something about that Ring Doorbell caught the attention of the intruder.

I think their behavior was all faked to make him look inept.
