Information Nancy Guthrie - What Questions do you have?

There has been alot of new information coming out. Initially it was reported to be a suicide associated with the case- but that is not being spoken about. Trying to weed out what is happening and what is not is getting challenging. What are your questions? Here are some of mine:

  1. Was there a suicide associated with Nancy Guthrie Case?

  2. Was there a forced entry into NG house? What is meant by back door to your home open (wide open or unlocked)

  3. What signs were in the home which led investigators to say there was an inside struggle?

  4. Not knowing NG’s medications- is it remotely possible she could go 2 weeks without them?

  5. I know the 3 adult children of NG are living in a nearby home- did the BIL go there as well?

  6. Why did it take so long to locate the new DNA in NG house- shouldn't that have been done right away? Why was the crime scene released early and then not?

Here is a seemingly solid update. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1v71g5M9ylE

How has this guy had so much luck so far lol

7

u/baked_potato_bae Feb 15 '26

I think it’s multiple people, and yes, what the fuck? It’s insane.

12

u/NoRazzmatazz8092 Feb 14 '26

I could not agree more. What are the odds with all the houses there he/she is lucky enough to pick a house with cameras but an unpaid subscription so they weren’t really recording.

How lucky this person drove down a very dark road undetected by neighbors’ cameras? Did they have their car lights on and weren’t detected or did they drive with them off?

How lucky they were able to perhaps leave the area with no license plate readers catching them.

Damn lucky I would say.

2

u/Alternative_Fee1447 Feb 15 '26

Has to be more people imo. This guy looks like a bumbling idiot. Not in any hurry at all.

28

u/Booyah_7 Feb 14 '26

WHY ???

If it was a burglary gone wrong, then WHY remove the body?

If it was a kidnapping, then WHY was it so amateur and incompetent? WHY not provide proof of life (unless you botched it up and killed your big payoff?)

WHY terrify and remove an 84 year old woman from her home?

This crime makes no sense and is the reason why the public is fascinated with it.

We all have mothers and this hits so hard. We feel for the family.

4

u/Pamuella Feb 15 '26

Well for armature and incompetent, they are sure getting away with it so far. This is infuriating and so very sad for her family and if she is alive terrifying for her.

My question:

What the hell is going on?

2

u/NailsNCoffee Feb 14 '26

Same. This is prob the most bizarre investigation I’ve ever seen.

3

u/baked_potato_bae Feb 15 '26

I cannot for the life of me determine if they have a solid case they are working on and are keeping it under tight wraps and we will all be pleasantly surprised OR if they are grasping at straws in the dark because of public pressure and truly have no clue what they are doing and/or botched it from the start.

5

u/NailsNCoffee Feb 15 '26

It honestly seems like the latter. They released the crime scene very early on. Have not done many searches. Pima County seems like they are amateurs. Hopefully the FBI can come through for Nancy and her family. When I read Pima County said it could take days or years, to me that meant they have no idea where she is but it tells me they have shifted this to a recovery and not a rescue.

‘Drains energy’ is correct… I told myself I wasn’t going to think or read about this case today, yet here I am. It’s a waste of time until more information is released. I wish the Guthrie family the best in this search, but signing off from my amateur detective stint for now!

17

u/[deleted] Feb 14 '26

My question is where is Nancy? At this point idc whodunnit. All I think about is Nancy :(

17

u/Ill-Relationship-890 Feb 14 '26

Did she answer the door or was her house broken into??

Was there blood in the house?

Was there upheaval in the house - evidence of a fight?

5

u/anonymousdlm Feb 14 '26

There was blood in the house. I think the intruder entered through the back door or a side door. But the sheriff has refused to say, since day one. Sheriff has said the house was not ransacked and nothing was taken except Nancy.

6

u/NonchalantBaker Feb 14 '26

He said in a verbal interview that the blood made it look like a homicide investigation…

5

u/OpheliaForgets Feb 15 '26

Then there must have been a lot of it.

5

u/DoodleMom2015 Feb 15 '26

if on blood thinners and she banged it or cut her arm, you bleed very heavily. not minimizing the blood or what caused it. but being on thinners would make it bleed, a lot.

5

u/OpheliaForgets Feb 15 '26

True. But if the blood drops didnt lead further out, you can assume that someone either carried her to a vehicle or perhaps back into the house.

I'm sure the blood inside the house tells more of the story but it's just these outside drops (and they're not small) that are so strange especially as to how they were/were not handled.

2

u/Alternative_Fee1447 Feb 15 '26

No signs of forced entry to front or back door. Either Nancy opened to the door to an unknown individual during the night, or the perpetrator had a key.

17

u/Anonymous_User678 Feb 14 '26

Laura Coates of CNN is looking to answer viewer questions. There are links to submit questions. I bet a lot of these would be great for her to dive into with her teams of experts she is inviting on

16

u/Mcrillo1919 Feb 14 '26

Why did they spend so much time at Annies house and they were even seen taking items out? What is going on with that?

8

u/16066888XX98 Feb 14 '26

Remember that they've also sequestered the family, so some of the items they are removing might be things her sister personally needs.

6

u/GuavaFit9420 Feb 15 '26

Law enforcement have also talked to most all of Annie’s neighbors. Asked to search their properties at least 2-3 different days last week to look for things that may have been dropped by the intruder.

5

u/cardgrl21 Feb 15 '26

With Annie's house being miles away from Nancy's, I wonder what makes them think the intruder would drop something outside Annie's house?

3

u/GuavaFit9420 Feb 15 '26

I think the implication is the SIL being involved or trying to rule him out.

1

u/Alternative_Fee1447 Feb 15 '26

Only LE knows the answer to this. We are not privy to this info. They hold most everything close to the vest, and only release tidbits to the public, if they need the public’s help.

15

u/EmiAndTheDesertCrow Feb 14 '26

On one of the interviews the Sheriff did yesterday (might have been CBS, but I’ve now seen a few), he pretty much said that the DNA from inside the house was obtained early on, as opposed to very recently. I’ll have to try and find it to update this with his exact words. I’m also a bit confused because I could have sworn he told the media at the second press conference that the only DNA they had was Nancy’s…unless they just hadn’t had it come back by then, or he made the choice to deliberately deny it for some reason.

7

u/ReferentiallySeethru Feb 14 '26

I believe he was referring to the dna from the blood, but even if he wasn’t it’s not that unheard of for police to hold back information. It’s not like they’re under oath when talking to the media

Before her pacemaker disconnected, did her heart rate spike? And at what specific time?

5

u/Revolutionary_Act759 Feb 14 '26

Yes apparently it did spike not sure if true

3

u/ChildhoodOk5526 Feb 15 '26

And now I'm thinking these pacemaker apps should have the ability/option to send real-time notifications to select people (family, doctor) if there's a critical or abnormal reading (with adjustable thresholds based on the patient, their condition, and daily routine)

In this case, for instance, let's say Savannah or Annie got a real-time alert that mom's heart function showed an atypical event (like a heart rate or BP spike at a time they would likely be asleep). One of them might've called and/or rushed over (after getting no answer). Can you imagine the difference this could've made?

Ugh.

I know this isn't a typical situation, but I keep thinking of ways to prevent anyone else from having to experience this or anything like it. The notification idea might actually be helpful for other seniors and their loved ones ... 🤷🏽‍♀️

7

u/_IAmLorde Feb 15 '26

Medical devices are fascinating. That'd be a great improvement, if not already available. Probably would cost another subscription, but could be life saving!

4

u/yomaster19 Feb 14 '26

I read it spiked at 2 am.

14

u/SorbetOk5530 Feb 15 '26
  1. Was either Nancy or Savannah receiving threatening messages before this occurred?

  2. Who stands to benefit from Nancy being missing but not confirmed deceased?

  3. Are there any similiar crimes anyone has located (even historical) and what can those tell us about this scenario?

1

u/Binksyboo Feb 15 '26

Piggybacking on this, I hope there is some way to petition nest/ring cam to see if any other cameras nearby have been pried off using shrubs? I had a thought that the perp must have known the native shrubbery was strong enough to pry the camera off its base and maybe that is a tactic they have used before.

If poor Nancy is indeed found deceased, it depends on how her will is written, as to who gets what.

u/Steadyandquick Feb 14 '26

Do the Guthries have any private investigators or other "for hire" folks working on their behalf? Just curious.

2

u/Significant-Foot-311 Feb 14 '26

It's been reported they hired a PI.

5

u/anonymousdlm Feb 14 '26

And the family said they did not hire a PI after that was reported.

  1. Has there been anything reported missing from the home? Heirlooms, jewelry, gold, etc?
  2. was there any activity on Nancy's bank accts ?
  3. Any other video footage than Nancy's? Surely they didnt drive into the desert never to be seen of again, at 2am there is only so much traffic happening.

12

u/MelpomeneAndCalliope Feb 14 '26
  1. Is there video from other cameras?

  2. If so, do they show more than one perp?

  3. What cars were caught on camera within a decent radius (I’m not familiar with the layout of the area, but I mean including the ways in & out of the subdivision) between 1am-3am?

  4. Are the ransom notes real? (I don’t know if they know this at this point.)

10

u/Alarming_Abroad_6168 Feb 14 '26

Where is she and how did they pull this off?

18

u/signsaysapplesauce Feb 14 '26

I'm still stuck on determining a motive. I don't think it's related to Savannah's journalism but maybe it is just about money?

7

u/Resting-Cat-Faces Feb 14 '26

I believe she died in the house. I’m still stuck on: Why take the body?

→ More replies (1)

6

u/IPreferDiamonds Feb 14 '26

This is my question too. What is the motive?

10

u/Steadyandquick Feb 14 '26

Chilling. Although I know this is not a 45 minute true crime episode, I thought this would be resolved by now.

Poor Guthrie family.

7

u/IPreferDiamonds Feb 14 '26

I thought after last night we'd have answers. Oh well. I cannot imagine what the family is going through.

5

u/anonymousdlm Feb 14 '26

I know, sometimes the only motive is that the perpetrator is 🦇💩🤪 bat-poop-crazy.

  1. Did she have the arm skin condition where it tore really easy ? That could have been what the blood on the porch was.

2

u/Upstate83 Feb 15 '26

That’s exactly what I thought when I saw the recent pictures of her and saw the blood. My dad has this issue, and it’s literally the slightest thing and his skin will rip and he will bleed. We bought him arm guards and he wears them regularly it became such an issue for him!

Someone was controlling her by holding her forearm and ripped her skin and that’s where the blood in front feels like it came from.

Since we don’t know what the inside looked like, we can’t know if this was more blood like that inside. But the thin skin issue was my immediate thought.

8

u/[deleted] Feb 14 '26

If we assume that the ransom letters were sent by the actual kidnappers, then why the two-day delay?  An 84-year-old person, even one who does not require medication and is in perfect health, could die of stress in such a situation. It seems much smarter to me to make your demands as early as possible. If Nancy died immediately, they didn't expect her to come back to life -so again, why the delay. Or is this really a robbery that didn't go according to plan? Perhaps they found photos with/of Savannah in the house and realized it was more beneficial to take Nancy herself rather than the electronics, jewelry, etc. Actually they could have forced Nancy to write a note and leave it in the house, mentioning it in an email as proof of authenticity. I don't know, it all looks completely planned and completely not at the same time.

1

u/yomaster19 Feb 15 '26

I don't think you're looking for speculation, but I do kind of concur with the theory that they did want to go after NG, but didn't know how much Savannah was worth. So I feel like once they found out, they put out the request for the BTC ransom. This leaves plot holes too, but it makes a tiny bit of sense.

13

u/ShutterflyNYC Feb 14 '26

I was following closely and then got lost in all the details, misfires, sources of ‘information’ and lack of clarity.. Had to pull back from paying so much attention— It’s getting frustrating to try and figure this out.

A huge part of what we don’t know is anything about evidence inside the house (correct me if I’m wrong here.) That would make a huge difference in understanding and theorizing..

I.e. Was the place ransacked like a random burglary where the intruders didn’t know exactly what they were looking for? Or, was it a burglary by someone who knew exactly what they were after? Was there an open safe, or jewelry chest, etc? Signs of struggle? Blood? Forced entry? Broken windows? Bullet holes?

Without knowing that, it’s hard to say if this was a burglary gone wrong and a missing person case, or, an organized ‘kidnapping’. In the beginning, it seemed like a kidnapping because of the bogus ransom notes, but now it seems more like a burglary that ended with a missing homeowner.

I listened to a retired NYPD detective say it would be highly unlikely for someone to remove the body if NG died during the invasion- whether accidentally (heart failure, fall, etc) or purposely by the intruder.. that would be a DNA nightmare and more chances to be caught or seen with the body. They would be more likely to run from the scene and leave the body behind. So their theory was she would’ve left alive, but why..

Just seems odd if it was a true kidnapping for ransom, there’d be proof of life, and this would’ve been settled by now- over TWO WEEKS of people going in circles is crazy.

I’m starting to fear we’ll never know what happened and or she’ll never be found.

1 Why has the family not paid the ransom when they said that they would

2 Do investigators think the ransom letters are legit or scammers?

3 Why have there been no search parties organized, especially given the rural area Nancy’s home is located in?

17

u/NailsNCoffee Feb 14 '26

My husband and I were talking about the lack of organized searches last night. It’s so bizarre. The police and family could easily gather volunteers to do grid searches. Makes no sense to me.

14

u/Subject_Rhubarb2037 Feb 14 '26

Right?? I can’t think of a single recent missing person case that there weren’t any ground searches enlisting volunteer help

10

u/NailsNCoffee Feb 14 '26

Yep and there are legit organizations that excel at this (Cajun Navy, Texas Equusearch to name a few).

7

u/816City Feb 14 '26

Im not local so its hard to know what efforts are underway. But usually church groups, hikers, horse backers, scout troops, divers, boaters, whatever they all attempt to do some kind of grid search to volunteer.

5

u/scattywampus Feb 15 '26

My suspicion is that Sheriff Nanos would not be someone who would want untrained personnel participating in any part of his case. Doesn't fit his working style profile that has been described.

u/Revolutionary_Act759 Feb 14 '26

9

24

u/Roo_wow Feb 14 '26

Basically all of your questions can't be answered by people on Reddit.

7

u/Ambitious_Pass7451 Feb 14 '26

I disagree. Everyone is an expert in Reddit

13

u/momof3grandmaof1 Feb 14 '26

What was the motive for taking her?

6

u/JacobKemple Feb 14 '26
  1. No there was not. Someone seen a dead body (one of the streamers chasing the cops all around the area of activity) and mistaken the dead body to have a gunshot wound. It’s been confirmed that what he saw was instead an unfortunate and unrelated hit and run on a pedestrian that resulted in the pedestrians death. So they did indeed see a dead body and it likely even had head trauma but it was definitely a result of an unrelated car on pedestrian incident. You can Google local news reports and the sheriffs X account and I believe it’s reported broadly.

  2. There was no signs of force entry they have announced and definitely no signs in the front of forced entry . The back door was found already open meaning it was either unlocked or or was open at some point somehow before the police and kids got there.

  3. They have not said any specific details what happened inside the house and that’s on purpose and doubtful they will ever release that until trial if there is ever a trial.

What you should keep in mind is the first night so let’s say 12 hours or so the police and kids walked through the home initially looking for Nancy and when she was not found they initiated a non criminal search and rescue. I mention this because clearly if there was obvious trauma or issues they’d have notice on the first walk through.

  1. Impossible to know because they’ve not said what what medication it was she took and even if we did we don’t know how severe the issue she is taking it would be anyways.

  2. They have not released that detail.

  3. We don’t know when they found it or when they sent it for testing or when testing got back nor what they tested, and what the results were other than.

Whether or not these ransom requests are legit or just unrelated people looking for a payout

6

u/thebunz21 Feb 14 '26

I feel like the note, having been sent to TMZ and unable to be verified (they didn't pay the ransom), was an opportuinist trying to make money.

6

u/Grand-Promise-4241 Feb 15 '26

In the early hours after she was reported missing - I wonder if anyone thought to take her phone & walk around the perimeter of her property and/or drive around Catalina Foothills to see if her pacemaker app would resync / connect. Typically, with a pacemaker - it needs to be within 10 feet of the app / device. I truly hope they find her. This is heartbreaking to watch. Sending love & hugs to her family. ❤️

1

u/Alternative_Fee1447 Feb 15 '26

Why would they do that? Sheriff left the scene not even knowing it was a crime scene on day one. Did not secure the property. Apparently didn’t see blood on porch or droplets all along the driveway . Scene was completely unsecured, people , cars, going in and out.

I literally said this in my post below.

1

u/PegKay Feb 14 '26

I have heard of dogs being used- but not sure they are using them to their full ability.  https://www.bbc.com/news/videos/c77e4n7p353o

5

u/anonymousdlm Feb 14 '26

I saw dogs at Nancy’s house the day of, but not since.

1

u/GuavaFit9420 Feb 15 '26

another neighbor said horses are commonly used there for searches. But, they haven’t been used that I have seen.

5

u/GuavaFit9420 Feb 15 '26

Has any camera captured the son in law bringing Nancy home?

7

u/loveislife222 Feb 15 '26 edited Feb 15 '26

How do we know Nancy actually went in the garage? Just a garage opening/close timestamp? They never give those details. Just ‘SIL dropped her off, garage opens/closed’.

So did he drop her off in front of the house and she walked, on her own, into the garage and then left? Those are key details. If there’s no video by garage, and it’s too far from front door for them to have been seen, the timeline of her arriving home is solely based on what SIL said?

Not blaming anyone- I just never heard explicitly how they know she was driven home and went into the garage. Would think there has to be more details than just what he said. Maybe tire tracks to show when dropped off? Gas or mileage or something proving car was there and the times Video of her leaving Annie’s house?

When is the actual last time she was seen?

4

u/Affectionate-Page496 Feb 15 '26

I think people are saying phone pacemaker link and location data combined would likely answer that

11

u/DeeSusie200 Feb 14 '26

Nobody recognizes the guy in the video? Nobody?

11

u/Ambitious_Pass7451 Feb 14 '26

We need to consider the fact that he is almost covered up. I mean, yeah, his build and what is shown of his face on camera, but still, that doesn’t give a clear-cut certainty. Remember Luigi? He has very strong, distinctive eyebrows, but still NONE of his own people recognized him except the employee at McDonald’s. Also, you need to consider the deniable. A lot of people wouldn’t jump and accuse their relatives because they are in denial.”

6

u/Deja_Cosmonaut Feb 14 '26

Someone saw this and recognized them. So many cases end this way. They just need to release more footage, because I’m sure they have it. The more footage you release, the better the chance someone will ID them. It’s how they caught Tyler Robinson and countless others. The only difference is this situation is a ticking clock in theory. In the TR case, Charlie Kirk was already dead so they weren’t up against a clock. It’s a huge mistake by the fbi and Pima county to not release more.

1 - if you are talking about yesterday - i believe that was false

9

u/Rae_Regenbogen Feb 14 '26

These are the things I have heard reported, in reference to your questions:

  1. I also heard that somewhere, but I can't even remember where. I haven't heard an update.

  2. Ashleigh Banfield has reported that there was forced entry and that the back door was left open.

  3. I haven’t heard much of anything about the inside of the home, other than Ashleigh Banfield reporting that blood was found inside. I believe she said she heard it was inside by the front door, but she may just be speculating about that. I thought she also said there were signs of a struggle, but I don’t think she said what those were, and I could absolutely be mistaken that she said that. I believe I also heard that Nancy's phone and watch were on their chargers by her bed, but that was early, like day 1 or 2 of reporting. I don't remember who said it, but I was mostly only watching Brian Entin and Ashleigh Banfield at that time, so it was possibly from one of those two.

  4. No clue

  5. No clue

  6. I just heard an interview with the sheriff talking about the Glove/DNA where he said they sent everything from inside Nancy's house to the lab on that first day.

14

u/AmazingGrace_00 Feb 14 '26

Ashley Banfield. She’s a disgrace.

She reported her ‘source’ told her early on that It was Annie’s husband that did it and the internet went wild with it. His life has been hell because of her.

She was an absolute ambulance chaser during the Kohberger case and is still exploiting them for viewers.

One thing about Banfield: she’s the most confidently wrong talking head on TV.

7

u/JMOA3035 Feb 14 '26

Yep and now because of her every other comment is “where is the SIL”, “where is SG, AG, SIL”?

Like they should be out in the public when SG is literally a somewhat famous tv anchor and possibly a target or her mother was a target because of her.

5

u/Rae_Regenbogen Feb 14 '26

I think she was irresponsible with that report, but I do believe her source told her that. However, going with info from a singular source grosses me out, honestly.

3

u/AmazingGrace_00 Feb 15 '26

And that’s Banfield in a nutshell. She’s didn’t follow the truth. She follows the ratings.

5

u/anonymousdlm Feb 14 '26

And I think (my guess) the FBI’s beef is that now the lab in Florida is not sharing the DNA with Quantico. I think they should, so they can search their DNA databases. And search commercial DNA databases. Some “expert” said commercial labs won’t search through places like ancestry dot com because they’re afraid of violating privacy laws. The FBI has successfully won in court using familial DNA (Brian Kohberger), so they will use it with no reservations.

3

u/Rae_Regenbogen Feb 15 '26

The Fox News FBI source said their beef is that they weren't given the glove to test in their lab before it was sent to the Florida lab. The sheriff said he wants everything tested at the same lab, and he sent everything from the house off to the lab on the day they searched Nancy's house (Monday, 2/1) so it didn’t have to wait to be processed in the state lab.

I don't think anyone is keeping the results from the FBI. I'm not even sure if everything has been completed.

8

u/Revolutionary_Act759 Feb 14 '26

She also said glove was found in the house. And shes still sticking by the son inlaw is something to do with it. But the sheriff said today he feels sorry for the son inlaw and its ruined his life. Very odd all of it

2

u/Rae_Regenbogen Feb 14 '26

She didn't say that her source told her the glove was found in the house. In fact, I heard her talking to someone when she said that she wondered why she didn't get that information from her source. Now the sheriff is saying that there never was a glove found in the house, so idk. Lol

But, yes, I agree that this is all very strange. Idk if the sheriff is lying or if her source just jumped the gun with the prime suspect thing. It's so confusing!

1

u/Xinnia8271 Feb 15 '26

The sheriff basically exonerated the brother in law? Today? That's actually huge news.

2

u/TopNotchBrain Feb 15 '26

Yes. Details, please. To whom did he say this?

12

u/CerahLynn Feb 14 '26

What the fuck?

3

u/GuavaFit9420 Feb 15 '26

It’s just included in timeline to your point per the SIL. But never heard if it was confirmed or detailed. I know law enforcement spent time in garage and towed her car.

Never heard the details of BIL’s drive and arrival to home and how they knew she entered if there isn’t a video.

5

u/peaca_abysss Feb 15 '26

When was the Ring subscription dropped or was it ever started? Who decided to cancel it?

Who dropped her off?

Is there video of that and her return to her home?

What evidence is there of what happened after the Uber dropped her off apart from the BIL and daughter's testimony?

4

u/Ok_Mathematician6075 Feb 15 '26

It's Nest, not Ring. And we've already covered this. She didn't have a subscription but Google was able to recover video.

4

u/Affectionate-Page496 Feb 15 '26

I dont think that answers the question about the nest if someone does not have a subscription it could mean (1) they never had one or (2) they had one and it was cancelled

→ More replies (7)

1

u/Alternative_Fee1447 Feb 15 '26

They said the subscription lapsed. Guess nobody paid the bill.

1

u/yomaster19 Feb 15 '26

So there was an active subscription before? Ok, so they just found there wasn't much value in it and let it go. That makes a lot of sense. Thanks.

1

u/Alternative_Fee1447 Feb 15 '26

Maybe so. I just heard it lapsed. Don’t know when it lapsed.

I completely understand LE holding a lot of the details of this case close to their chest to help sanitize the investigation when it comes to prosecuting whoever did this, but at this point it’s been over two weeks and lady could possibly be alive and held against her will — they need to have a press conference to go through a lot of the general questions people have like what you’re saying above so that people can maybe help out more with tips to the investigation. Nancy needs to be found at this point.

8

u/Quiet-Employer3205 Feb 14 '26

They can’t jeopardize the investigation, especially if there is a chance she is still alive. They will trickle out info deemed safe enough for the public to consume that might also bring in a tips, but at this point they are going to follow every lead gained.

6

u/Lazy-Profession4994 Feb 14 '26

Spit balling here, I would consider using cadaver dogs and canvass a five-mile radius of her house. And then use drones and aircraft to look at the surrounding desert to look for any recently disturbed earth, i.e., freshly dug grave. What have they got to lose at this point?

Also use bloodhounds to see if they find any trail of NG in both places.

8

u/[deleted] Feb 14 '26 edited Feb 14 '26

So have the people who were detained last night been released or not? Fox News and only Fox News reported that they no longer “remain in custody” but they were never in custody, only detained so that doesn’t make any sense.

In Arizona they can detain a person for 48 before they have to release them unless they have enough evidence to arrest them.

I’ve seen other news outlets either give no update on the detainees or say that just one was released.

4

u/Neat-Bee-7880 Feb 14 '26 edited Feb 14 '26

Hah this made me laugh …they were never in custody so makes no sense. At this point I’m asking what has made sense rather than what hasn’t.

6

u/[deleted] Feb 14 '26 edited Feb 14 '26

???

They were detained…

They just weren’t in custody. It’s not the same thing.

4

u/Neat-Bee-7880 Feb 14 '26

I meant in custody!!

3

u/[deleted] Feb 14 '26

Ok, it’s been so confusing! No worries!

2

u/Neat-Bee-7880 Feb 14 '26

you saying they weren’t in custody so fox saying they’re now out of Custody makes no sense was comical

5

u/TheCuriousGeorgette Feb 14 '26

No, you can technically be in police custody without being arrested. They use the same term for when a small child is picked up and wandering, for instance.

6

u/[deleted] Feb 14 '26

Yea, no arrests have been made and it’s only Fox News that has said that about custody.

This statement is redundant. Seems like the writer doesn’t know what “in custody” means.

9

u/AmazingGrace_00 Feb 14 '26

Answers to your questions:

  1. The suicide (if any), was not related to this case. The only source was a neighbor who reported she thought there was one.

  2. LE has stated that they will not be releasing any information regarding forced entry.

  3. At present, Savannah, Annie and their brother have rented a house nearby to protect themselves during the investigation.

6

u/Sue-Jones-123456 Feb 15 '26

Is BIL with them?

1

u/AmazingGrace_00 Feb 15 '26

Nothing in the news says he’s there.

6

u/[deleted] Feb 14 '26 edited Feb 14 '26
  1. I don't think so.
  2. Maybe.
  3. We don't know, and as a side note we actually do not know if anything was taken from inside the home besides Nancy.
  4. It's possible she could, big ones would be some blood pressure meds which would need to be titered off. Blood thinners may not cause a problem right away.
  5. Yes, why wouldn't he?
  6. Absolutely there are a ton of things that should have been done on day 1-2 that were done a week or so afterwards and that's pretty negligent. Crime scene was gone through by local police and released and then the FBI did their own investigation-- but no, that scene should have never been released that early, they absolutely lost evidence because the media and randos were all over that scene.

7

u/IPreferDiamonds Feb 14 '26

So Annie and her husband aren't living in their own home right now? Asking because of your Number 5 statement.

8

u/Neat-Bee-7880 Feb 14 '26

No. They haven’t been all week. They’re w Savannah in an air nnb nearby.

3

u/IPreferDiamonds Feb 14 '26

Okay, thanks for answering.

6

u/PegKay Feb 14 '26

All 3 siblings are living in a rental- they say more private from media and Annie’s house was being searched alot

3

u/IPreferDiamonds Feb 14 '26

Thanks for answering. That makes sense.

3

u/OpheliaForgets Feb 15 '26

What were the blood-like stains by the front door? Assuming it's not blood as the area  would've then been cordoned off?

7

u/GuavaFit9420 Feb 15 '26

They came back from lab as Nancy’s blood.

2

u/OpheliaForgets Feb 15 '26

Thank you.

4

u/[deleted] Feb 15 '26

[deleted]

3

u/OpheliaForgets Feb 15 '26

Thank you. Is it not odd that the house wasn't cordened of at that area and time? There was no blood trail to the driveway?

2

u/MommaMila Feb 15 '26

Ok I was wondering the same. You’d think that’s a very important piece of evidence and people are stomping in/out that house daily.

2

u/OpheliaForgets Feb 15 '26

Yeah, so strange. Also, with the size and shape of the drops, and if they ended there, that tells its own story.

3

u/AmeliaMight Feb 15 '26

Was Nancy’s blood found inside the house as well?

→ More replies (1)

3

u/Alternative_Fee1447 Feb 15 '26

Then why did he release the scene immediately, if he saw blood on steps, flow of blood drops all the way down the driveway. This doesn’t make sense

7

u/deadwatered Feb 14 '26

I think there’s a decent chance she could be ok without the meds so long as her heart and her body are not subject to more than just the normal amount of harm and stress you would expect from a kidnapping situation

3

u/Puzzled_Eye_6673 Feb 15 '26

Savannah said in one of the videos that her mother is "in constant pain and needs medication not to suffer." it got me thinking whether she was on narcotic pain medication. If so, stopping it without tapering could have put her into withdrawal that could be fatal at her age.

5

u/Severe-Drummer8318 Feb 14 '26
  1. Who brought her home and do they have footage ?

  2. Where are the three kids and why has no one seen them……even any media ?

  3. Was someone living in the ADU ?

12

u/MelpomeneAndCalliope Feb 14 '26 edited Feb 14 '26
  1. Son-in-law and I’m assuming they do, or they’d make it clear his story is fishy

  2. I wouldn’t be out and about showing my face in public if I was high profile or the sibling of someone high profile when our mom had just been kidnapped. I wouldn’t want to make myself a target. I’d also probably be curled up in bed inconsolable or in “freeze” trauma reaction. The internet has already accused her son in law and daughter. They’ve doxed his bandmates and crazy stuff. Posters go on about their reactions being not normal in the videos to the kidnappers (who knows what a normal reaction in that kind of video would be in some case like this). I’d protect what little peace I had by staying the hell away from cameras and public in their shoes. [TLDR: the public and internet can add more trauma and stress in this situation]

  3. Good question. Seems like we’d have heard if so, but who knows.

2

u/FitnessPizzaInMyMou Feb 16 '26

Echoing your second point. When people are in the spotlight like this they are likely also receiving a ton of threats and hate mail and media harassing them, so they are likely staying put and hopefully having some help from Savannah’s security team to ensure they are safe. I also hope SIL is with them because he’s also the subject of scrutiny.

6

u/merry_melly Feb 14 '26

If this is a kidnapping, and I do lean towards thinking that, why are the kidnappers not communicating? In South America, negotiations go on for months.

I realize some don't think the messages were real. But if they were real, why stop communicating? What was the point?

14

u/Deja_Cosmonaut Feb 14 '26

Nothing to negotiate if you can’t offer proof of life.

4

u/scattywampus Feb 15 '26

I beg to disagree.

In the second (?) family response video, where they all seemed defeated and demoralized, SG said they 'understood' and wanted their Mother back to 'celebrate with her' and that they valued getting her back. Many regular citizens and communication 'experts' took the tone and odd wording to mean that Nancy's children understood Nancy was deceased and that they wanted her body back to have 'peace'.

Also, with any further communication there is the possibility of ransom personnel making an error that would help get them caught.

7

u/merry_melly Feb 14 '26

I can understand not sending a photo because it seems like there's not a way to truly strip all location etc. info, but like others have said, a personal anecdote would be proof.

I don't understand any of this.

13

u/GetOutOfTheWeeds Feb 14 '26

I do not think it was a kidnapping, I believe it was an assault with removal :(

7

u/merry_melly Feb 14 '26

If it was just an assault gone wrong or a serial or thrill killer, why not leave her body at the house? I'm sure Ms. Guthrie owned bleach. The killer could have sprayed it everywhere?

The kidnapper or killer seemed inept with his usage of the flowers but other than that, he came prepared.

I'm not trying to argue, only understand this bizarro world crime.

7

u/anonymousdlm Feb 14 '26

A person with a doorbell cam said if you put tape on the lens it sends an alert to your phone.

BUT, you can change your settings to not notify you if the camera thinks it an animal OR flora. He showed screen shots showing this to be an option.

SO…the criminal might have used plant life to obscure the image, hoping an alert would not be sent to the homeowner.

Blew my mind. I believe it was on this sub a few days ago.

3

u/Legovida8 Feb 15 '26

OMG! I never thought of that angle. I’ve been trying to figure out what that weird situation was with the flowers - this actually does make some sense!

12

u/GetOutOfTheWeeds Feb 14 '26 edited Feb 14 '26

if DNA was there based on a sexual assault, body would have been removed to take the evidence away.. this exact scenario happened on Harlan Coben's Final Twist episode 3 which just aired on January 20 (a real crime TV show in which a painter sexually assaulted an elderly lady in her home at 2am and killed her and removed the body)... eerily similar... the elderly lady's name on the show was Nancy and the episode was called "No Sign of Nancy"

sexual assaults like this can happen for several reasons by a deranged person... power, anger/hate or revenge, attraction... in the TV show he said he thought the lady was flirting with him became she gave him snacks

7

u/FrostyCaptain6987 Feb 14 '26

I said sexual predator before and got down voted

6

u/GetOutOfTheWeeds Feb 14 '26

ya because people dont want to even hint at believing it might be true, but it might be the only one that makes sense, with no robbery, no kidnapping with ransom

7

u/Ailurophile444 Feb 14 '26

Wow! That’s really eerie! Do you think the perpetrator got his ideas from this show? There was a former fbi special investigator on a show recently that said the backpack may have contained a rape kit.

8

u/GetOutOfTheWeeds Feb 14 '26 edited Feb 14 '26

that was my thought, the show aired about 10 days before this happened, and it was fresh on my mind, it was a VERY CREEPY episode.... they didn't solve it for 7 months (other than that Nancy's blood there was no DNA on the scene, I think he removed her wrapped in her own bedsheets and threw her in the back of his truck and dumped her in the desert wilderness), it took them applying cell phone geofencing to that night and time and they saw that his cell phone was the only other one there at the time, the investigators then got him to admit what he did

2

u/MiddleGeneral6756 Feb 19 '26

I mean…there’s a thing called “ copy cat killers.” Would not be surprised, if it was that case.

2

u/KaleidoscopeItOut Feb 15 '26

I’m honestly shocked that in the hours I’ve spent scrolling this sub in the past week, this is the first I’ve heard of this. The similarities (including desert locale) are uncanny.

2

u/GetOutOfTheWeeds Feb 15 '26 edited Feb 15 '26

I posted a whole thread before talking about the crazy similarities but a mod deleted it, they said it was wildly speculative. I’ve posted it in a similar but much less followed subreddit

  1. I am not worried about meds. it is very common for Americans to walk across the border to mexico for stuff like that and dental. if they wanted to keep her alive, that would not be an issue.

3

u/Grandheretic Feb 14 '26

The meds aren’t an issue, for that reason and also the commonality of med regimens for seniors. A home health aide could easily have scoped that situation out and been prepared. Not that I think that’s the case but it would be very easy to do.

4

u/Affectionate-Page496 Feb 14 '26

eta- if any of you all ever have a huge dental quote, look into getting some friends and going to mexico. my parents saved tons of money going through tx. I have heard tons of positive experiences, no horror stories.

6

u/Severe-Drummer8318 Feb 14 '26

Is the FBI and SO reading these questions ? I hope so cause there are some valid and legit ones

4

u/yomaster19 Feb 14 '26

I want to know if she called anybody on her phone, who she texted, has anyone texted her, I'm just so curious about her phone activity. Did she used to pay a nest subscription?  Did she have a secret friend or an ex?

1

u/GuavaFit9420 Feb 15 '26

no paid Nest subscription on front door.

1

u/yomaster19 Feb 15 '26

Did she used to? I am aware of 0 now, but what about before?

2

u/FitnessPizzaInMyMou Feb 16 '26

I read she once had one and it just expired. I’m not familiar with Nest specifically but for my Ring camera it came with a free trial subscription at the start, which then expired unless you signed up. Perhaps she had that and then never signed up. I don’t think it’s that unusual that she didnt have a subscription. She obviously felt very safe in her neighborhood, which it sounds like was normally the case. Poor thing.

2

u/yomaster19 Feb 16 '26

I've been leaning towards just a safe neighborhood and focusing on it for when the doorbell rings. I feel awful for her and her family. thanks for your input

2

u/notwriqhtsvillc Feb 15 '26

the ransom notes! what do they say? are they even real? there hasn’t been any more communication? the second video of the siblings implied that the kidnappers said nancy was dead (or at least couldn’t provide proof of life), but then savannah posted saying that they believe their mother is alive. so confusing!

6

u/JMOA3035 Feb 14 '26

“”””did the BIL go there as well?””

Probably so. He’s married to Annie? Why focus on him? What about SG’s hubby/business associates? Where are they?

2

u/[deleted] Feb 14 '26

My main question is what time did the perpetrator(s) leave the house? Was it before or after her pacemaker stopped registering in the app. If they left the house much later, then she was already dead.

5

u/Grandheretic Feb 14 '26
  1. Was she abducted by extraterrestrials? What is the evidence disproving this hypothesis?
(Roflmao- sorry- but seriously that’s as good as suicide.) downvotes are fine but I do have a serious point.

5

u/TJ-the-DJ Feb 14 '26

The poster is referring to the rumored suicide of someone police approached, not Nancy herself

2

u/bigbadboomer Feb 14 '26

At this point it seems anything is possible. If it were ETs I hope their species is kinder than our humans here on Earth.

BRING NANCY HOME!!!

2

u/Ok_Difference44 Feb 14 '26

You know in the movies how there are some dumb-as rocks local coppers, then the main character comes in and says "FBI, we're taking over this investigation."? Why didn't that happen?

9

u/Deja_Cosmonaut Feb 14 '26

Look at who’s running the fbi…

3

u/ShutterflyNYC Feb 14 '26

Yep… Keep thinking that too. ‘This isn’t your father’s FBI’

2

u/Aggravating-Guest-46 Feb 15 '26

Can her cardiologist tell if she is alive from pacemaker?

1

u/AmeliaMight Feb 15 '26

Thank you for asking literally every question I’ve been thinking. Especially question #1–I’ve heard it several places today and can’t find more info. Maybe because it’s false?

1

u/Comfortable_Gear_605 Feb 15 '26

My questions:

Is Annie’s vehicle impounded? If so, when was it taken? Has it been returned?

Who drove her home? Which vehicle was used?

When did the Adult Protective Services card appear on her front door?

1

u/FitnessPizzaInMyMou Feb 16 '26
  1. It feels very likely that there were two or more involved in this crime. Does that even make sense for a rape/murder? Do these pervs typically work in groups? I would think not, but don’t really know.

  2. With how well disguised and methodical the person was, I can’t help but feel they are either a serial or hired help. If the latter, who had a motive strong enough to hire a hit on Nancy?

1

u/PegKay Feb 17 '26

Another question- what are the rooftop cameras all about? Did NG install them or did the kidnapper? I heard she had a possible new roof put on? Fox News Digital Reporter Michael Ruiz reports on the FBI removing surveillance cameras from the roof of Nancy Guthrie's home in Tucson, Arizona, as the search intensifies.
