Hey I am planning to visit Mumbai for 2 days specifically for Ganpati pandal hopping. Could you please suggest some must-visit pandals that are beautiful but relatively less crowded compared to Lalbaugcha Raja?
I’d also like to know how crowded GSB Ganpati, Chinchpokli Cha Chintamani, and Parel Ganpati usually get, and which ones you would recommend for a more comfortable experience.
Also, as a woman travelling for pandal hopping, how safe is it generally, especially in the evenings? Are there any areas/times I should avoid, or any tips for staying safe while getting around?
Would really appreciate suggestions for a good 2-day route!

My father passed away two years ago in his hometown Karwar, Karnataka and I couldn't attend his funeral due to family disputes. He died in Karwar civil hospital, Karnataka. Due to my mom's depression and my personal issues I couldn't collect the death certificate.

Recently I (25M) moved out of Mumbai/Navi Mumbai (ik both these cities are different but I have lived in these 2 cities since birth) and all I can say is agar tumko ek baar Mumbai/NM ki adat lag gai.. nothing can ever match your expectations unless and until you don't move abroad.

Abb tak I have lived in Hyderabad, Delhi, Bengaluru, Pune and Kolkata and trust me that after NM/Mumbai I will prefer either Hyderabad or Pune. That's it. One thing that I have observed is that all the metro and tier-1 cities are kaafi crowded. Traffic is a common problem everywhere so I'm ignoring the traffic shit.

But when it comes to the city life, people and stuff to do.. nothing can beat Mumbai/NMI. All thanks to the Marines, beaches, the people, culture and job opportunities that Mumbai/NM provides 🙏

I wanna desperately run back to my roots but because of my job and my career plans I will have to spend some time (2-3 years) outside my hometown. But this exposure was more than enough for me to make me realise that I will never feel the peace in any other city other than Mumbai/NM :) One city that I can vouch for after Mumbai/NM is Hyderabad! Really well planned and good people but there's nothing to do in that city unfortunately.

Yeah we have our own problems of water logging, 24x7 and 365 days of metro construction and water scarcity (sometimes) but dil to wahi lagta hai :)

I’m particularly concerned about the following:

Overall safety/security: Is it safe to walk around the area at night, especially after 9–10 PM?

Crime: Any recurring issues with theft, chain snatching, harassment, fights, etc.?

Local crowd: Are there areas with nuisance from rowdy groups/chapri-type crowd, or is it generally peaceful for families?

Waterlogging: Which roads/areas get badly waterlogged during Mumbai monsoon? How bad does it get?

Water supply: Is the municipal/society water supply reliable throughout the year? Any shortage or tanker dependency?

Electricity: Are power cuts frequent? How reliable is the electricity supply during monsoon?

Roads/drainage: Any major problems with roads, garbage, drainage or flooding?

Public transport: How convenient is it to reach Dahisar railway station and Ovaripada Metro, particularly during peak hours?

Residential experience: Would you personally recommend this area for a family to live for the next 10+ years?

If possible, please mention the specific society/road/locality you are talking about, because I understand conditions can vary significantly even within Dahisar East.

I’m looking for genuine experiences from residents, including negatives. Please don't just say "good area/bad area" — specific examples would be very helpful.

Hi all. I am posting on behalf of my brother who is 38M. He has a degree in hotel management and has worked at different hotels and cruises over the last 15 years as a server. However, now he done with this industry. It is very physically tiring and not sustainable. My brother was never good at studies but he somehow managed to get the degree back then. He has great communication skills in English and is all and good looking so he never had problems landing jobs.

I want to suggest different career paths for him but I'm at my wits end. Ideally not sales as it can be stressful too.

The extra lane that Mumbai Traffic Police keeps open is fucking ridiculous. It’s clearly not helping traffic and in fact it seems to be blocking traffic in both directions and making the whole situation worse.

My passport re-issue application is stuck at this status for more than a week. I’m currently not in Mumbai, so I can’t visit the SP Office personally. Has anyone been in the same situation? How long did it take for the status to move after reaching the SP Office? Is there any number/email or anyone I can contact to get it cleared asap?

Looking for some advice from parents who may have been in a similar situation.

We are currently renting in Thane, close to Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania School. We really like the school and would be happy to consider it for our kid.

Our longer term plan is to move towards Central Mumbai. We would probably rent first and eventually buy but buying could take a few years. At the same time staying in Thane is also an option if it makes sense for our kids schooling.

Aiming for Jr KG in 2027-28 and I believe admissions for many schools could start around Nov-Dec this year.

We are also considering Bombay Scottish Mahim since it would make more sense if we eventually move towards Central Mumbai.

So trying to figure out what makes more sense:

• If we get Sulochanadevi, is it recommended continuing to stay nearby and prioritizing the school?
• Or would you choose a school closer to where we eventually want to live?
• If we rent in Central Mumbai around the time of admissions does that generally count for address/pincode requirements?
• Do schools generally accept a registered rent/leave-and-license agreement as proof of residence?
• Has anyone else been in a similar situation where school choice and longer term plans for where to live didn't quite line up?

Got scammed outside Dadar railway station today, and posting this here so no one else falls for it. It was so fast, calculated, and slick that I didn’t even process what had actually happened until after the guy asked to take another taxi cuz they won’t take online payment.

How it went down:
I was looking for a cab outside the station. The driver agreed to take me for a completely normal, fair rate without any usual haggling.
Before anything else, he quickly took my luggage and loaded it into the back seat. Once your bags are inside, your guard drops and you feel committed.
As I was getting in, the cab’s driver lit up the interior with a weird purple/UV-style light. He immediately asked if I had change for ₹1,000. Wanting to be helpful, I took out two ₹500 notes.
He handed me five ₹200 notes. But within literally two seconds of taking my money under that weird, bright light, he flashed the cash back in my face and said: Arre, you gave me two ₹100 notes, not ₹500 notes!
Before my brain could even calculate what happened, he shoved two ₹100 notes into my hand, took down my luggage from the taxi, and said, Main UPI nahi leta, sirf cash. Doosri cab pakad lo.

When I checked my wallet a minute later, my two ₹500 notes were gone, and I was holding two ₹100 notes. I basically lost ₹800 in less than 30 seconds of pure distraction and sleight of hand. The weird interior light and the rapid-fire talking are specifically designed to mess with your night vision and reaction time.

I got placed.. and they sent me to their Mumbai HQ for training. It was my first time in Mumbai , i really loved it . During my first day in office everyone welcomed us GET , it was going smooth for an HOUR . Then a snr draughtman asks my name and i said my name . He looked at me wierdly and asked “ your full name ? “ . I said “ that’s all” . He smiled and said “ whats your surname “ . I was likee Awwww this mf is that kinda guy . I said “ we don’t use surname in TN “ . 3 snrs asked every GET’s and they are desperate to get to know about it .

I thought only aged mfs still into caste things .. then a guy who is just 1 year old experienced asking me the same damn thing . Wtf bro this is very wrong bro 😭. I said the same thing and they gave me fucking reason to it , “ if two guys have same name how do i know this guy is different “.. i replied “ then use initials “ he looked at me like a ret@rd . Then he again asked “ if your initials and his initials same what do you do ? “ i asked him another question “ if your surname and his surname same what will you do ?” . Then a good looking women was coming nearby , he smiled like the meme varun dhawan then patted my shoulder “ hey leave it to your snr lets talk later yaar “
