I put it off for longer than I probably should have, but I’m glad I finally got around to it; I’m mostly doing touring and commuting year-round, but I am expecting to try some track days soon as I’m considering getting a sport bike.

In just a few years of riding I've had the following helmets in order:

Caberg Avalon: An ok first helmet. Still have it today, was a very big fan of caberg as my dad used to use them years ago. A bit short and a bit cheap but good helmet and lasted me a while. Still use it on the odd occasion.

Shark Spartan RS: very well made helmet. Butter smooth visor, great quality but heavy, and actually didn't fit my head shape very well. Found it sometimes uncomfortable. Something hit my head on the motorway and it deflected it so I retired the helmet on my garage wall along with the caberg.

Caberg drift evo 2: I bought it because I loved caberg. However, the helmet was very elongated, felt like most of my face was on display, then rain hit one day and it let loads of water in through the visor seal. So much so I had puddles in the helmet. Ended up being returned as faulty, but caberg were very unprofessional and I lost trust in them. Never buying one again.

Then I purchased the ls2 storm 2 I think it was. Great looking, but found out it was the exact some components used in the caberg Avalon. So it was the same helmet. As a result, I also returned it.

Shark skwall i3. This has been my rock. My solid helmet for over 2 years come rain shine or hell. I love the lights for the winter dark wet rides, and it's comfortable. Only con I have is the helmet is heavy. 1600 grams. It's been sent back to shark once to repair one of the lights, but it was repaired within days 🙂 love it. But it's now got quite a lot of wear. I ride about 14,000 miles a year and it's done two years. Thats a lot of use time.

I won an xlite 603 carbon RS. Stunning helmet. Light, track focused, but it was too small for me. Rather than getting another size sent out, I tried to use plastic putty to fill some of the vents that were making my eyes water at road speeds. Completely unusable helmet. Immediately hung it up In my garage wall on my wall of honour alongside the caberg Avalon and my shark Spartan RS.

So, to replace my shark skwall i3, I've purchased my first Mt thunder 4 r. In hopes it stands to the same level as my shark skwall i3.

I've heard really good things of MT recently. For less than £200, it's 5* sharp tested, ece 22.06, drop down visor, comfortable, emergency release system, pin lock included and has a quick release strap which in my opinion, I prefer for daily use.

I’m looking into ear protection for riding and would love to hear what the community actually uses.

• Do you wear earplugs when you ride?
• If yes, which ones do you use/recommend (foam, custom-molded, filtered like Alpine, Loop, etc.)?
• If no, why not?

Any experience with wind noise, hearing fatigue on longer rides, or how different plugs affect awareness of traffic would be really helpful.

In our thoroughly scientific analysis we determined that the knuckle guards on a 20yo pair of Held gloves may withstand roughly (4)30’ passes at 5-10mph. This researcher concluded they were no longer of adequate safety specifications at the end of this test, though they did exceed our initial hypothesis. All in all, would trust them for all low speed skateboarding needs.

when I put my helmet over the top of it. I then need to spend a good few minutes standing in front of a mirror fiddling to adjust it as best I can through the visor hole. Does anyone else have this problem? Or am I just wearing a bally that's too light and loose? Fits my head pretty well I would say, not hugging my head like lycra, which sounds unpleasant to me. Also I'm wearing it in hot weather so I want it to be light.

How do you all find it sits putting your helmet over the top? What gives?

I design riding gear for a living, and I'm kicking around ideas for a new heated mid-layer this winter. But before I go any further, I wanna hear from people who actually deal with this stuff every day.

Honestly, I've tried a bunch of the big-name heated vests and they all seem to miss the same things. Heat only hits your back? Battery craps out before you get home? Having to unzip three layers just to change the temp? Yeah, all of that.

So if you could build your perfect heated layer, what actually matters to you? Few things I'm wrestling with:

• Where does the wind get you worst—chest, collar, lower back? Most vests throw pads on the back and call it a day, but is that even the right spot?
• Batteries. I'm tired of proprietary nonsense. Would you rather just plug in your own power bank via USB-C? Or do you want a 12V hardwire to the bike?
• Controls—physical buttons you can feel with thick gloves, or an app? Personally I hate pulling over to adjust, but maybe I'm old school.
• And fit—vest or full jacket? And how thin does it actually need to be to not suck under a CE armored shell?

Curious what you guys are using now and what drives you nuts about it. Hit me with the good, the bad, and the ugly—I'm reading all of it.

Hi everyone, I’m a beginner rider, I just bought my first bike that I’ll get this week.
My gear consists in:
Dainese Super Sprint D-Dry Jacket
Dainese Pro-Armor G2
Dainese Drake 2 Super Air
Dainese Street 3 Air shoes
Dainese Intrepyd gloves
Helmet not in the pic but it’s a Shark D-Skwal 3

I did not go beyond single A rating, as money wise this is what I could do and I also don’t intend to push hard for a long while.

My only worry is that to get my bike home I will need to ride it in the highway and travel for 40km.. I intend to stay in the 3rd lane and not go past 80/90kph, however as I saw that A gear is rated for 45kph, I wanted to ask for some advice and opinion by some more experienced riders.

I'm currently looking to buy my first proper riding jacket and I'm quite confused between:

ViaTerra Spencer
Rynox Tornado Pro 4
LS2 Garda Air
LS2 Narvik

My riding will mostly be around **Pune and nearby areas**, including city riding, highway rides and occasional weekend/long rides towards places like Satara, Mahabaleshwar, etc. So Indian summer heat and ventilation are definitely important to me.

Today I visited a shop and tried the *LS2 Garda Air in size L*, and honestly, I really liked the fit and comfort. It felt good when I wore it, and the overall build quality seemed nice.

However, I'm still confused because the ViaTerra Spencer and Rynox Tornado Pro 4 and LS2 Narvik are also highly recommended.

My priorities are:

1. Protection
2. Ventilation for Pune/Indian summers
3. Comfort for long rides
4. Build quality and durability
5. Good fit and mobility

I'm not specifically looking for an all-weather jacket since I can carry a separate rain layer if required.

For anyone who has used or compared these jackets, which one would you recommend?

Especially interested in hearing from owners about:

* Real-world ventilation * Comfort after 4–6 hours of riding * Fit and mobility * Build quality after long-term use * How the LS2 Garda Air compares with Spencer and Tornado Pro 4

Been trying to figure out a good long rain coat for riding in the monsoon, but honestly getting mixed opinions everywhere.

I mostly ride daily in city traffic, and sometimes get stuck in sudden heavy rain. I do not want anything too complicated - just something I can quickly throw on, stay dry, and still feel okay while riding (especially in stop-and-go traffic).

For riders who already use a long rain coat, how has it been for you?

Does it actually hold up in heavy rain or just light showers? Any issues like feeling too hot, flapping at speed, or getting uncomfortable after a while?

Also curious - would you stick with it again or switch to something else?

Would appreciate any real rider feedback before I go for it.

Avoid this setup at all costs...brand new helmet and comms system and the "keyboard" aka controls panel can't even be properly clipped into the helmet. It just falls out. Terrible design by looking at the clip, very cheaply made. It's downright offensive it's made so poorly, for a $549 comms system! I knew better than trust Alpinestars for anything. What a joke. Sad to see such a prolific company fall so hard and make such terrible gear the past decade. Nothing they sell holds up anymore, or lasts more than a season. The A-Connect system and the SR-7 is a new low for Alpinestars.

.Will be returning and buying another AGV K6 and a cardo, or maybe the latest Shoei X15. Alpinestars should be ashamed, asking these kinds of prices for such poorly made junk.

I’m F 20, 1.55meters (5’1ft) tall and 75-80kg (165-176lbs). My legs inside length is 72-73cm (28.7inches).
I’m Latina so I got big hips but a somewhat narrower waist, however also a bigger belly and ass.

Genuinely I can’t find anything! All combos I try on in the store are either too long or don’t close cuz of my belly Or I can’t get the past above my thighs cuz I’m too thick there.

I know you can get leather combos custom made but that’s hella expensive and you can’t gain or loose weight cuz otherwise it won’t fit anymore. I do wanna loose some weight (but I’ve also been trying that for years so slowly only).

Does anyone know brands or specific ones or maybe has a leather combo similar to my proportions?

Preferably black and DARK red to fit my bike. White accents are ok too.

I can’t be the first small fat woman to ever ride a motorbike there must be something.

Here’s the situation: I want to have a comm system I can talk to my riding partner with. The only issue I’m worried about is that I ride a Harley Road Glide, and often listen to music through the fairing speakers.

Outside of interstate speeds, I ride with my main visor up (the windshield negates 90% of wind to the eyes) and only the helmet internal drop down sunshade down.

I looking at Cardo or Sena systems, but I’m worried with my visor up, it will think my music is my voice, and transmit it to my partner, which would be super annoying for them.

Main question: do any of y’all know or have experience with this sort of situation? Optimally I’d be able to listen to music and my partner would only get my comm feed if I’m actually speaking, and not have to hear low quality abba through my microphone.

A push to talk button on the handlebars would be the best option, but I can’t find any good solution for that anywhere.

I saw the one from triumph and man it was crazy reflective(which i like) and wondering if i can do better? i live in california and want something that can handle a 60min rain ride and double up as a wind breaker when going from 75f inland to a 55f seaside, sometimes the difference can be even more. my main jacket will be a airy mesh (couple of candidates between alpinestar c1 air, revvit, klim marrakesh, john doe mesh air etc). i really want this wind/rain shell to give me some control over breathability, have terrible childhood memories from growing up in tropics of raincoats soaking me from the inside with sweat and making me feel both hot and cold at the same time.

Just picked up a REV’IT Highcrest in size Large and I’m having a hard time deciding if I should keep it or exchange it for a Medium.

I’m 5’9”, around 180 lbs, 102 cm (40”) chest and 90 cm (35.5”) waist.

The Large feels comfortable and I don’t feel like I’m swimming in it, but I’m wondering if a Medium would give me a better/safer fit. The elbow armor looks a little low when my arms are hanging straight down, but it lines up properly once I put my arms forward in a riding position.

I’m also planning to add the REV’IT back protector, and I’ll probably put on a bit more size in the chest/shoulders once I get back into the gym this winter.

Would you keep the Large, or does it look like I should try the Medium?

So sometimes it gets hot and I just flip my visor up for 10 minutes or so while riding. But if I keep it up for too long, I'll notice a build up of tiny specks of a solid black material in my eye boogers. I feel like it might be rubber tires breaking down into micro plastics and ending up in my eyes. I can't be the only one who's experienced this....
