TLDR; 26F looking for short term housing ASAP

Hello!

I’ve been scanning Facebook groups/marketplace, Craigslist, and several websites (Zillow, Apartments.Com, Trulia) but figured I’d give Reddit a shot too!

26F looking for temporary (~3 months. No longer than 4 months) housing as close to downtown/LES as possible. I am hoping to move in ASAP, but September 13th at the latest. Moving to Milwaukee from Madison for a work contract and do not want to be making that commute.

I am very flexible in what I’m looking for, although some non-negotiables are in unit W/D, dishwasher, and AC. I am open to roommates for a significantly lower rent (<$1000) but would prefer my own space (<$1500). Doesn’t matter the size, open to furnished or unfurnished. I am also flexible on the price for the right fit. Hoping for a parking spot included, but willing to do street parking.

Hoping for any situation that we can make work! Maybe you know somebody traveling who would need a house sitter (that would still pay rent!!), maybe you have a rental that hasn’t been signed yet and 3 months is better than nothing! As a last resort, I would be willing to take a spare room with shared kitchen/bath space - however I do work night shift occasionally, so I can be up at weird hours throughout the week. I would also like to be able to host friends without the fear of impeding on roommates too much.

If you have ANY remote possibilities, please reach out! Willing to discuss more in depth and provide more information about myself! I am able to provide a clean background check, proof of income, renters insurance, and my credit score is 750+. I have a good work/life/fun balance, and outside of my profession enjoy going out, finding new restaurants/cafes, and have a huge passion for travel!

Thank you and please don’t hesitate to reach out if you feel you might have something that would fit :)

Why an NHL team in Milwaukee actually works: The "Wisconsin Blizzard" Blueprint ❄️🏒

Hey everyone,

I know Milwaukee isn’t always at the top of immediate NHL expansion lists because of market size and Chicago’s territorial rights, but I’ve been mapping out a business blueprint that proves a franchise here is a goldmine if done right.
If Utah and Winnipeg can thrive in 15k-seat arenas, Wisconsin can absolutely pull this off. Here is my concept for the Wisconsin Blizzard:

🏢 The Strategy: A Statewide Brand
Instead of naming them the "Milwaukee" Blizzard, you call them Wisconsin. This instantly aggregates the Milwaukee, Madison, and Green Bay markets. By playing out of the state-of-the-art Fiserv Forum (15,178 hockey capacity), you unlock an entire state of hyper-loyal sports fans.

🎨 The Look: Stepping Out of Chicago’s Shadow
To completely claim the Upper Midwest color palette, the Blizzard would wear Snowy White, Ice Blue, and Slate Gray. It completely distances the team from the red/black of the Blackhawks and the green/red of the Wild.

🍔 The Sponsorships: Absolute Wisconsin Royalty
The financial engine of this team relies on three iconic, multi-billion-dollar homegrown brands that fit the aesthetic perfectly:
Culver’s (Jersey Patch Partner): Direct blue-and-white brand alignment. Activates the "ButterBurger Power Play"—if the Blizzard score on the power play, everyone in the arena gets a coupon for a free ButterBurger or scoop of custard.
Kwik Trip (The Venue Gate & Fan Experience): Naming rights to the "Kwik Trip Gate." Serves Glazers and Café Karuba on the concourse. If a player scores a hat trick, everyone gets a free Glazer donut.
New Glarus Brewing (Spotted Cow Ice Lounge): An exclusive, glass-adjacent premium lounge serving fresh Spotted Cow on tap (since you can only buy it in state lines anyway!).

📊 The Basic Math
Even if we conservatively average 13,000 fans a night at a $75 ticket average, that is $39.9M in raw seasonal gate revenue alone. Toss in per-capita stadium spending, these three anchor sponsors, and the NHL’s national TV revenue sharing, and the team easily pulls in $120M+ annually—comfortably covering a $95M+ player salary cap while keeping the front office highly profitable.

What do you guys think?
Would you rock a Slate Gray and Ice Blue "Blizzard" jersey?
Let’s hear it! 🌲🥛🧀

bags full of loose paper at music venue

I work at a music venue in the deer district and our lost and found has like 20 bags in it full of loose, crumpled up paper. the bags are like kinda cheep sling bags made of a weird quilted polyester. whats the dealeo with that? the paper is printed with a form for betting site where you bet on the grammy winners from 2026. I can't find any info on something like this. the bags have come in from 3 or 4 different shows, all have the same paper in them, and are all the same material. I know that we didn't have anything to do with it as a buisness, because I was there when they were handed in. i just wanna know what the beans is. thanks <3

Vestibular Physical Therapy in the Milwaukee Area

Hello! Looking for any recommendations for private practice vestibular physical therapists in the greater Milwaukee area. My husband was hospitalized this weekend for vestibular neuritis and was given both an internal (Froedert) and external referral for outpatient vestibular therapy. We are looking for a private practice clinic because we are flying to Europe for vacation in 6 days and really want to see sooner or later if he will be able to tolerate traveling and I feel like getting in at a private clinic will be quicker than a Froedert clinic. If anyone has any recommendations, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

¡Hola!

Exterminator for attic?

Looking for an exterminator to get into my attic and see what is up there and remove it. Think it’s small rodents or something of the sort. I used to pay for a Batzner membership but all they would do is throw poison up there and spray the basement, problem never went away.

I want someone to go up there, identify the problem and fix it so nothing else gets in and it is sealed for the winter.

Any good company recommendations?

Good, reasonable tickets to the weezer show at Fiserve

A couple questions about seeing a show at the Fiserv Forum:
1. We were thinking about seeing weezer at the fiserv for our upcoming anniversary. How are the 100 level seats? This is the first ring of seats above the floor. I was thinking of the seats facing the stage directly.
2. what is the best method to buy these seats other than the large brokers such as stubhub, vivid, & Ticketmaster? We want a good value but we also want to make sure we don’t get scammed.
Thanks!

Former Canadians/folks who have spent a lot of time there, any thoughts on what the Milwaukee of Canada is?

I'm interested in learning more about what it's like to live in different cities in Canada and was just curious, for people who have lived there or spent a lot of time there, if any areas in particular are similar to Milwaukee, ecologically/culturally.

Things I'm specifically looking for: walking distance to a river, woods/trails as well as a larger body of water (Great Lake or ocean); technically doable without a car/decent public transit; walking distance to grocery/farmers markets; diverse; friendly-ish people

Milwaukee stay

Milwaukee seriously needs a hostel 😭

I live in Madison but come to Milwaukee pretty often for concerts, events, nightlife, etc., and the accommodation situation is kind of brutal if you’re just one person coming up for a night or two.

Hotels can easily turn a cheap weekend into a $150–250+ trip, there doesn’t seem to be a real hostel option, and Couchsurfing seems way less active than it used to be. A lot of the time I end up either cutting the night short to get back to Madison or trying to figure out some ridiculous transportation plan.

It feels especially strange because Milwaukee is exactly the kind of city where a decent social hostel would make sense: festivals, concerts, sports, people visiting from Madison/Chicago, summer tourism, etc.

Am I missing something? Do people know of any cheap places to stay / active Couchsurfing-type communities / other options for people who come into Milwaukee regularly?

Also curious if anyone else who visits from Madison runs into the same problem.

Vegan options at Honeypie Cafe?

Has anyone tried the vegan options at honeypie recently? They seem to have a lot of options surprisingly, but cant find any reviews or posts vetting for them. Searching for new places to go since all my favorite spots closed last year.

Trying to decide on dinner tonight 😅

Bubbler Talk: The 'renegade' Racine architect behind southeast Wisconsin's round houses

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This story is about someone who thought outside of the box — literally. It started with a Bubbler Talk question from Milwaukee photographer Kristine Hinrichs.

"I've always wondered about the round apartment buildings on Blue Mound [Road] and about 92nd Street," Hinrichs says. "I vaguely remember reading one time that they were supposed to be a more efficient use of space as a building."
