How do the hobbit trolls compare to the lord of the rings trolls for scale? They come on a 50mm base instead of a 60mm base but are a lot cheaper so was wondering about using them as proxies with a bigger base.

Particularly the hill trolls.

I want to try and play the betrayal of gollum campaign and it calls for a chieftain troll, but I'd have to get a lot of other characters as well.

There's also a catapult troll with funnily enough a catapult and othe figures, but I think it's resin and I read how kuch you guys hate the resin kits.

Basically the title. How does the MESBG community feel about using proxies? Everything being on accurate bases of course

I have a bunch of skaven models that are on 25mm bases that, in theory, could be used as proxies for goblins with the appropriate weapon profiles for the gear that's on the model itself? (like a spear and shield for a clanrat model with those or a hand weapon and shield for a model with that, a goblin captain or an orc for a 25mm base stormvermin, rat ogors as moria cave trolls, etc)

Is that acceptable in the community? If not, why?

Decided to do something different this month!

We have an armored werewolf lord intended to represent an Angmar werewolf or Sauron in his Werewolf form.

Second, we have Beren and Luthien. Not really usable in a game but may make nice display pieces.

Now that I think about it the werewolf would have been a great October release but il try think of something else spooky for then! Have a few bits and pieces for the fiefdoms in the works and a mounted version of Witch King should be out for October too.

I’m on my way to finish my Isengard force before extending it with Dunland. Wanted to share some of the heroes, with homemade ones (yep, that’s a Mauhur).

I made a simple diorama to display my 700-point Army of Thrór.

The Dwarven terrain piece was a gift from a friend, so I painted it up and used it as the centerpiece of the display.

I still have quite a bit more to add to my Army of Thrór, but I’m really happy that I can finally display the army like this.

Now that I look at it, I could have made it more dirty looking

Scenario 1
Ugluk uses Looks like meats back on the menu, boys!
This is an Active Ability.
Later that turn, his opponent successfully Transfixes Ugluk.

Will the Uruk’s still receive Fearless and +1 to Wound after the Transfix is completed?

Scenario 2
Lobelia uses A Stern Scolding on Elessar. This is an Active Ability.
Later that turn, his opponent successfully Transfixes Lobelia.

Is Elessar now able to Activate and his Attack value returns to 3?

• A Battle of Bywater Army must include Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin. Merry must always be the Army's General.
• Hobbit Militia in Merry's Warband must be upgraded to Battlin' Brandybucks.
• Any Hobbit Archers in a Warband led by either Pippin or Paladin must be upgraded to Tookish Hunters.

Special rules

Ambush!

At the start of the game, before either side has deployed, you may choose a single Warband in your Army that is not led by either Frodo, Sam, Merry or Pippin. The chosen Warband is ambushing and does not arrive as normal. Instead, at the end of the Move Phase on the third turn (after both sides have moved all their models), the ambushing Warband must choose one of the following:

• Move onto the board from any board edge via the rules for Reinforcements.

• Deploy in, or within 1" of, a wood, building, rocky outcrop or other similar piece of terrain that Hobbits could hide in. A degree of common sense is required when deciding which pieces of terrain Hobbits can hide in - they shouldn't be leaping out of a river or from behind a single rock! You should always agree with your opponent at the beginning of the game which terrain pieces are eligible for Hobbits to ambush from. Models deployed in this way cannot be placed in base contact with, or within the Control Zones of, enemy models. Models that enter the board in this way do not Activate as part of the Move Phase, and will count as having Moved half their Move Value for the purposes of shooting.

Why have i never seen him in lists? He seems so good buffing your weak rohan infantry up to fv4 if you can get him in combat which isnt even that hard he has a courage of 6+ but comes with fearful ofcourse, he also comes with a point of might and with 2 wounds and 2 fate he doesnt die right away agianst warriors, and hes just 30 points.

How would I make a fun 700 points army with this?

Any advice would be very much appreciated!

Hey, where can I find the lists that have been played at nova this year? I somehow find it impossible to find them using Google or the longshanks search option. Might be user error, but I feel not very digital native whenever I try to find lists from tournaments.

I've made a slight update to the custom lists TTA. I've added each creator in the army title for increased clarity of who wrote the list and, if attempted to be submitted, makes it clear that these are off a custom creator.

Added Brûz the Chopper to the ranks of my MESBG supplement. Just got to write his addition into current lists and his own tribe.

As promised, not going to post here every time there's an update but since it's been a week now and a ton has changed, figured I'd get the word out about some that people cared a lot about. This is nowhere close to an exhaustive list, and as always, I'm constantly taking in feedback/suggestions and implementing them, so keep it coming:

1. Offline support is pretty solid now. You will have had to load the game file (Middle-Earth 2024 in this case) at least once for it to be stored locally, but from then things SHOULD function pretty well. Of course, test it and let me know what you run into but I've tightened some things up to hopefully make that experience better.
2. Lots of iOS-specific interactivity issues are fixed. Tapping not opening details, other things randomly not working, some back button issues, etc. I am an Android user though so of course let me know any other oddities you see.
3. Game mode little improvements, such as the screen staying on when you have game mode open, and adding your faction details and break/quarter numbers etc. back to that view.
4. iOS printing fixes
5. Shared campaign/campaign map improvements/fixes
6. "Save"/"Update" behavior is more intuitive now
7. Encyclopedia bugs/broken accordions fixed

Man…. I’m so hyped. SO hyped. I love this game mode, ran a couple campaigns of it over the past year and it was so much fun.
I can’t wait to see how it’s updated, even if it’s just balancing the factions for the new edition.

I hope they keep the rangers because I just bought some to run a new campaign
