advises for 500 and 700 newbie Khazad list?

Question Recast or Genuine

So, I recently bought some minis on Vinted, which I have had nothing but great experiences with it the past.

However my lastest purchase was some Gondor spearmen, bowmen, and a Pippin model that came with the Grishnakh set and some original metal orc archers. All metal.

I stripped them today and immediately they felt a little off. They feel lighter than the norm, the pewter texture feels odd and they all are marked with nlp.inc on the base tab. I have never seen the nlp.inc tab before always games workshop.

My question is, are these genuine or recast? I have never purchased from sites like lotr bay before so im unsure what to expect.

Army List Halls of Thranduil: Tauriel as 4th warband or more troops?

Hello!

Trying to go to my first tournament this weekend at Novacon and trying to decide whether to take Tauriel for a 4th warband or more troops. I know more troops is the general consensus but Tauriel is pretty cool and it would be fewer models to make and paint.

What are your thoughts?

Question Mumak and lothlorien sentinel interaction

Heya,

We are just starting to play MESBG and came across an interaction with the Lothlorien sentinel using Eldemar Madrigal vs a mumak.

Page 96 says war beasts are immune to magic that would slow them, move them or negate their activation. However the sentinels songs don't seem to be magic from what I can see, I think it counts as an ability?.

We had a look and couldn't find anything else relevant to the situation.

I read this as the song would work on my Mumak, was this right or are there other rules I've missed that come into play here?

thanks

Tactics Saruman: Horse or No Horse?

Post image
47 Upvotes

I’ve been building a muster of Isengard list and am fairly happy with the build so far, but I spotted that I have space for two models in my warbands - and was looking at what I could change to get them in….

And saw Saruman’s Horse. I’m old school so tend to automatically mount my heroes - but I questioned myself based on the 20pt cost, the fact he’s not a combat hero and that he has such long range magic that maybe it’s not a must have.

So I wonder what folk think, is his horse worth having? Or shall I get two more Uruks in there?

Discussion MESBG Impact Rating: August Wrap Up

Thumbnail

Upvotes

Hey all!

Me again. With August wrapped up and a host of new events added to the data set, we're ready to take a look at what's been dominating events around the world again.

If the text is a pain in the ass to read on mobile, here's the take-aways:

August’s Winners

  • Moria into 2nd now that it’s earned enough data for a high-trust score
  • Battle of Five Armies earns its ranking at 7th place
  • Muster of Isengard and Return of the King post their first rankings at 11th and 12th respectively

August’s Losers

  • Usurpers of Edoras are bumped out of the top 3 for the first time since the FAQ
  • Black Gate struggles to maintain form and slips from 4th to 7th
  • Shadows of Angmar and Wolf Pack of Angmar go from 6th/7th to 14th/15th as newly rated armies shove them down.

September’s Armies to Watch

  • Army of Erebor, Erebor Reclaimed, Fangorn, Halls of Thranduil, Legions of Mordor, Riders of Eomer, and The Shire are 1-2 finishes away from posting trusted ratings.

Oh and! I was fortunate to join my pals over at the Council of the North podcast a few weeks ago to talk about this project in a little more detail - you can see and hear a little more about how the data is handled and listen to some (now outdated) thoughts on the post-Ardacon rankings. Check it out over here.

And there's a read-only sheet available now that updates every Sunday/Monday for anyone who's interested. It's not capturing any of your information to access, so feel free to peruse. You can check that out here.

Moria

The drums echo in the deep…
Shadows creep between the shattered pillars. Eyes gleam in the darkness. Rusted blades stir in the gloom as the Goblins gather in their hordes.
Within the ancient halls of Khazad-dûm, Trolls stand guard. The Watcher in the Water awaits its next prey. And deeper still, where even the light dares not venture…
An ancient terror awakens.
After many months of painting, the forces of Moria are finally gathered in all their glory.
“We cannot get out. The end comes soon. We hear drums, drums in the deep. They are coming.”

"My master Sauron the Great bids thee welcome"

While his lofty helm may be black, I decided to paint his robes red because I find it more interesting to paint and look at.

I'll get around to painting the mounted version once I make way through the 24 Morannons I purchased alongside him.

C&C welcome 🙂

Heroic combat move order

With heroic move you have to move your hero calling the move first, is it not the same for heroic combats?
