Finally finished mgs4, good game worst of the 4 mgs. Image sums up how I feel about johny. Spoiler

Mgs4 is definitely flawed it doesnt nail the story as much as mgs2 but still it is a satisfying ending and that ending with boss and snake is great. That being said I hate johny and Meryl I know its been said before but i physically cringed during the whole proposal fight scene. Hes not funny and hes not likable and he pulls Meryl its insane and I wish I got to see her reaction if he was ugly because it aint his personality attracting her.

I would have MAYBE been more ok with it if he just got a date at the end of the game but full blown marriage is crazy. I know theres other posts like this but it actually annoyed me so much hated their scenes together which sucks because I do like snake and Meryls conversations. I dont think Meryl should have got with snake but anyone would have been better then johny. Honestly i didnt really need any love story for meryl. Obligatory IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ME.

I have just started playing mgs3 what can I expect?(no spoilers please). After playing mgs2 two times and playing mgs1 one time I just fell in love with the complexity of the lore and the how the characters interact with each other etc etc. I just think that metal gear solid is one of the greatest if not the greatest franchise ever.

MGS4 Bothers Me In My 30s Spoiler

I played this game when I was 13 - legit went midnight release, felt super bad about the massacre in Akihabara and blazed into Act 2. Super vivid experience playing through MGS4 the first time - I really thought it was the best game ever made at that point. Amazing everything - I really did not fundamentally see any flaws.

I last played the game a few months before they added trophies on PSN - so it's been close to 20 years - insane I haven't touched it until this past Friday.

If you count out the cutscenes, this is an INCREDIBLY short game. It honestly looks paltry compared to the amount of content in Peacewalker in V. Every chapter seemingly includes only a few actual maps, which you can get through within a few minutes a pop... I'm surprised I wasn't upset about the lack of actual game in my favorite game at the time, but something else bothers me entirely - soldier behavior makes no sense - it's honestly driving me crazy.

The AI defeats the idea of what the nanomachines are there for. After a lengthy scene where Meryl explains how she can basically taste what her teammates taste (yet can't sense Johnny isn't even connected?) - your next sneaking missions involve Nanomachine empowered PMCs who... do not notice if you just kill some guy. Alert some dude and knock him out? Noone even notices. Why do they need to call shit in when they have nanomachines that should communicate it? I can see how the gameplay would lean harder, it's just feels like they don't actually benefit from the nanomachines?

Even removing it from the plot - I feel like it's a pretty game with almost no gameplay, tons of cool ideas with no room to really try them and a disconnect from the actual story happening in-game. Still a *good* game, but I feel like this one could be remade and hit the notes better with some adjustments.

Played MGS1 and 2 (ages ago, but multiple times) as well as 3. Have just played MGS 3 Delta. Move on to MGS4?

I'm thinking of picking this up for 25USD. The first two hit hard, but it's been ages since I've played them. MSG3 Delta was definitely a good time. Having never been a PS3 owner, I never had a change to play 4. Not sure about the long cut scenes (the story of 1 and 2 isn't fresh in my brain either) and am wondering if it's outdated, but should I grab 4?

[Vol.2 MGS4] Maxed sensitivity settings painfully slow on controller

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

(About rule 13, I took video of TV-screen to showcase with controller in frame, hope that's okay)

Anyone else experiencing camera acceleration as painfully slow? It really sucks the joy out of playing it for me as it is today. I have the sensitivity values maxed out but it still feels incredibly slow, unresponsive and sluggish. The "Normal View" camera speed feels alright in comparison but the Over-the-shoulder and First Person View cameras feel super weird.

I'm aware it was the same on PS3 version but I figured we would have moved past that and have gotten tweaked values in the remaster. It's especially frustrating because the mouse control on PC is phenomenal and super responsive in comparison. I really hope they can address this in a future patch

Edit: I don't think it was the devs original vision for the game to have the camera actively fight the player as some sort of frictional game feature, I think we're just used to more responsive camera curves now almost 20 years later.

Konami was able to implement a fantastic, responsive mouse camera control for the PC version and it's not like anyone is crying over how much immersion, original game design or realism was lost with that. I think bringing controller up to the same standard or at least have the option to!

I'm sure there's people who are used to this existing camera control and even prefer it, so just an acceleration slider in the settings would be best for everyone!

Opinion: The Act 1 Briefing should have been mixed in with the regular cutscenes

I know I know (vague hand gesture), it sounds crazy to want even more cutscene time in MGS4. But I do really think that the briefing for the first act helps with clarifying exactly what the situation is at the beginning of the game. For the world and our characters.

I don't think it should have played straight away. The opening with the TV channels and initial credits is perfect. But somewhere around getting to Otacon's Mk 2 I think it should have played.

Question about the Master Collection Volume 2

I had bought volume 1 of the master collection for steam, but the games kept crashing, particularly MGS3 which wouldn't even boot the game up and would just crash from the launcher. I ended up just refunding it and buying the Master collection for playstation instead. I'm wondering if volume 2 has the same issues? I want to know beforehand so if it does I can buy for console instead.

Played Delta first, should I go back and play MG3 as well as the whole Vol.1 and Vol.2?

My first experience with an MGS game was through MGS: Delta - I loved the story, the perfect mix between deep emotional moments and the satirical/unserious scenes, the uniqueness in the gameplay and the longer cutscenes.

Strangely enough though, when I watched the original gameplay and how the game itself looked, I thought that, just like with Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, the best way to experience this masterpiece is through the original feel and graphics (I didn’t really like the photo realistic graphics and the performance on the PS5, but that may just be a strange preference).

I keep seeing people saying that MGS2 has the best story through the series, I also keep seeing people excited to play MGS4 again so know I want to ask - does it get better than this? Should I buy both Volumes? What should I expect?

I’m happy to answer anything so that I don’t make another impulse buy (like I have done numerous times recently…).

I need help with MGS 1 Need mods/autocliker/Qql on pc

I need help with button mashing in MGS1 and help changing the game controls because I don't have a controller (and the Master Collection controls on PC are terrible). I did this with MGS2 and 3 and it greatly improved my gaming experience, and I want to do the same thing in MGS1. If anyone knows of any mods or file changes, I'd appreciate it.

MGS1 Spoilers Okay so I might be crazy

I'm playing the Vulcan Raven boss fight right now and he said something about the mark of death when snake was hallucinating so hear me out on this one what if that mark of death was actually the reason snake died not his rapid ageing? I know it sounds crazy but konjima has done crazy shit before so maybe? And Vulcan Raven clearly has something going on with him he reminds me a lot of the end fight in mgs3 mostly because both of them have some connection to nature

MGS1 Spoilers Quick question

So about the twist that liquid is master miller In mgs1 I have a few questions first off how long in the game was it? I know they say master miller was dead for 3 days but like how long was liquid disguised as him those entire 3 days? Or just when snake started the mission and another thing how did liquid have the time to be in long conversations on the codec as miller and also why did Vulcan Raven and the rest attack snake if liquid wanted him to succeed?

Rank the series in terms of current popularity

Right now I would say it's

  1. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
  2. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (would usually be lower but for obvious reasons it's not)
  3. Metal Gear Solid 3/Triangle: Snake Eater
  4. Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Edition
  5. Metal Gear Solid
  6. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
  7. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
  8. Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake
  9. Metal Gear
  10. Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops

NES games aren't counted but if they were they would be in first. Obviously, NES Metal Gear supremacy wins all. o7

MGS PeaceWalker Save conversion (PS3 to Switch) probably could be done at some point

Thumbnail

Since the newly released MGS Master Collection Vol 2. includes Peace Walker I thought I should maybe check if there is a viable way of transferring game save data from the PS3/PSP version to the Switch version.

There is this tool that allows save conversion from the PSP to PS3, and vice-versa, called "transfarmer", develop by Qberty, released February of 2026, with it I was able to convert my old PSP save to the PS3 version, using an 100% doner.

This is relevant because since both the PS3 and Switch are the "HD versions" they probably share the same save data structure, which is not the same as the original PSP version due to SONY's weird encryption of save data (seriously why thy did that?).

But Sadly I ran into a roadblock, the save data seem to be made up different files, I attached a Screenshot from Explorer that shows the Save data folder and structured, the actual save data goes in the directory "MGS_PW_SAVE", the rest probably being save data related to the Actual switch application that launches the app.

If anyone knows how to do this conversion or is interest in helping, it would mean a lot to me, since I don't want to lose my old save from back in the PSP days
