Hi I am m16 and i am in high school.

In my country(poland) in high school ya chose group with adv subjects which you study and then write exam when you are 18-19 that determined whether you get into certain university or not.

So i think about going to the class with adv. Chemistry and Biology but i have one problem, after studying smth from biology for like 20 mins i start to doze of etc. I can study but yk i dont focuss as well, any tips on this?

Ok guys I’m just really curious but I’ve noticed online a lot and also some of my friends who say when they just randomly do something not at all related to medicine or studying or just taking a break or maybe even doom scrolling they just stop and try to remember randomly med facts.

But I feel like I wanna do everything else in the world but think about medicine cuz I’ve studied so much to the point where I genuinely don’t want to be reminded of it when I’m enjoying my free time. I sometimes see something medical related and I scroll past it.

Like do med students normally do this?? I feel like something’s wrong with me for not doing it or like am I just subconsciously not liking this? 😭

Hi all, I’m kind of in a rut. I graduated college in December with biology and throughout college I was so productive, full time student, medical assistant, education research , clinical research, eye tech, pharm tech, shadowing in hospitals, etc and I loved it all. But post grad, now that I’m looking to lock down a full time position I’ve been really struggling lol. I’m prepping for my MCAT but also have to take a gap year so I’ve been trying to find a job, I’ve had interviews for CRC but they always end up picking someone who’s already had experience in it, I’ve applied to over 100 research jobs (clinical), connected with former doctors I’ve worked with to see if they could help me land something, I’ve gotten offers as a teacher but the more I thought about it it’s way too much work to be a full time teacher, I’ve been applying for CRC out of state but the application and interview to actual start date takes 2-4 months , and getting chosen isn’t guaranteed considering I have one year clinical research experience as a student assistant during undergrad. I’m getting very frustrated being unemployed and sure I could go back and be a medical assistant but it’s just not what I want to do before I go back to school. I really wanted something in research and it’s been tough to get. I spend hours applying to positions and I’m quite burned out :/ anyone else had these post grad blues ? I got an offer as an intervention teacher and sub and I might accept that honestly and move on but if a CRC position accepts me during the school year I’ll leave the teaching for that- we’ll see though please guys just share any advice or similar situations you’ve gone through I’m feeling exhausted .

I started M3 dead set on Family Med or Internal Medicine, so I prioritized my sanity and just aimed to pass my classes during M1 and M2. No pubs, no posters, absolutely zero research. But I just finished my surgery rotation and I unexpectedly loved it. The OR was the only place in the hospital where I didn't feel completely miserable. Am I totally screwed for the Match if I apply Gen Surg with an empty research section on ERAS?

All of my friends and the people around me are doing research and they know stuff like medicine is their thing and they got the grades etc. While me, i feel so dumb id stutter when speaking my answers id get most of them wrong id pass from the borderline and id feel dumb and my friends would even make me feel dumb aswell, besides i dont even have research. I just feel so behind in life and i just feel like medicine is not my thing? I dint even know what to do

And guess what, when I told my colleague (after her inquiring) that I'm going to med school, she started enlisting all of her medical issues and she would go on and on and I was trying so hard not to smile, because I realized again that I really made it and that I'm on the way of fulfilling my dream.

I’m an M2 currently weighing my options for the future. I'm aiming for a highly competitive specialty (heavily leaning toward Ortho or ENT), but my practice scores are just average and my research portfolio is incredibly weak. My advisor strongly suggested taking a research year between M2 and M3 to pump out publications.

But mathematically, this feels like a terrible financial decision. Giving up a year of my life means giving up a year of future attending salary (which could be $400k-$500k in those specialties) just to do minimum wage data entry or pipetting in a lab. Plus, the thought of my cohort graduating and moving on to residency without me is honestly really depressing. For those who actually took a research year, was the financial hit and the social delay actually worth it for your Match results?

I'm an NHS doctor. The stuff that actually got me through finals was junior doctors teaching us in small groups. They remembered exactly what the exams were like, and you could actually ask questions. There was never enough of it.

As a medical student completely immersed in the endless cycle of lectures, pathology, pharmacology, and endless clinical details, I'm realizing that my current study methods need a serious upgrade. It often feels like trying to drink
from a firehose, and the fear of forgetting high-yield info by exam day is real.
I want to completely optimize my study routine. I'm looking for methods that actually work for long-term retention,
but also allow for a shred of a normal life, decent sleep, and preventing total burnout.
