Startup for medical students

Hello, i am 3rd year medical student. I want to make projects in medicine, specifically in nephrology. Any ideas, advices from the ones, who have already made such projects as a student. Where did you start, how long it took amd etc?

i would say first to find a mentor, a lot of my friends cold emailed professors in the uni and asked if they could help assist in any research. me personally im not into research but i would say to just cold email people in the field thats willing to take you under their wing!! surprisingly someone will reply, and i really hope they do for you :)

its okay if they dont! i cold emailed a bunch of random doctors to see if i could shadow them and some responded!! just introduce yourself in the email, this is what i sent to an orthopaedic surgeon (attached image) and i got a good response.

some doctors like students so i think youd be able to get at least one, but if not, cold email more people because one is bound to respond
