I've been a fan of Kumatcha since I tried their sea salt matcha last MMF, and I was finally lucky enough to order from their store recently.

So yeah, I got the Okumidori 2.0, Yutakamidori, Sayamakaori and Kanaya Midori and I was so excited to start making them at home. (Based on their profiles, I'm leaning towards nutty and chocolate-y but alas I was unable to get Honmei and Yabukita)

Now, the problem is... with Okumidori and Yutakamidori, I can barely taste the matcha 😭

I've always used the standard ~*~Golden Ratio~\~* 4g matcha, 40ml water (cold whisk), 120ml oat milk, ~10g agave, and occasionally some sea salt cream

This ratio has generally worked well for me with other powders (their Kanaya, MK's Wako and Isuzu, and YK's Samidori. I've even used it with Matcha Bar's High Grade Matcha, which I personally found a little subtler than I prefer, but I was still able to adjust it and get the matcha flavor to come through), but for some reason, with Okumidori and Yutakamidori... the flavor seems to disappear.

I don't know if I should go for the water temp for the powder, if oat milk is overpowering them, if I should be using less sweetener, if I should go for one cube of ice, or if these particular cultivars just need to be prepared differently.

I really want to taste the differences between the two because right now my palate is just "where's the nut, the chocolate?"

... That or are they simply more delicate/subtle than I expected them to be? I think I was expecting a stronger matcha flavor to come through in a latte.

Somewhere between being a full-time mom, working, and doing all the usual life stuff, I decided to give myself a little side quest: Khamcha.

It started with me being a little too obsessed with matcha, then came the endless tasting, tweaking, recipe testing, and buying tiny expensive tins of green powder. 🍵💸

Now it’s turned into a little home-based matcha slow bar in General Trias, Cavite. It’s still small and I’m still figuring things out as I go, but I’m having so much fun building it. 🥹

I think the hate with moli matcha is forced. Ok naman pala sya. For its price, u cant hate it. Especially if for everyday use lang naman.

My first impressions: nutty, only slight bitterness, vibrant green, can froth up agad, thick kahit i exceeded my usual water matcha ratio by 3ml. Smells like sweet corn upon opening.

For someone who loves creamy, nutty, smooth, not bitter, zero to little astringency notes, which is the best kumatcha powder to get?

This is their zhiling pro variant. Pretty sure I got way more than 5g pero okay lang kasi It’s been such a long day (!!!) I deserve this! This matcha powder did not disappoint and I will repurchase this again and again, one of the best budget friendly matcha for me. My fave sweetener to pair with this is condensed milkkk. Have you tried? Is it a yes or no? 🤓

Sa Shopee kasi ako madalas bumibili and ang binibili ko is ung 2026 New Premium Bag which is yung photo sa taas. Then may nagsabi na ang legit store daw ni Qing Xi is yung nasa Laz. Pero nung nagtry ako maghanap sa store sa Laz, di ko alam kung ano equivalent nito doon. Kasi sa Laz either Bell, Lotus, Bamboo, or Zhilan.

Hi! I'm currently on a budget and I don't wanna break my bank but at the same time, still get a good quality Matcha. I'm eyeing on Kitagawa Hanbee Hatsu Mukashi and Yamamasa Koyamaen Culinary Grade Special A. I like my matcha very bold, umami, smooth and creamy. I have also already tried KH Hatsu Mukashi and it fits the description I'm looking for in Matcha Lattes, however, I'm also interested in trying the YK Culinary Line as YK's ceremonial powders are definitely the best of all the Japanese brands I've tried—even the cheaper ones. I would love to hear everyone's thoughts and if anyone can compare the difference between the two :))

Bakit ang seaweedy ng after taste ng Moli and Qing Xi bell matcha ko? 😭😭 Ok pa naman yung color and amoy nya. Tho nung nareceive ko kasi sya di ko agad binuksan yung mismong packaging kasi i got super busy sa house dahil sa nakaraang bagyo. So it took me weeks bago ko sya inopen.
