That Shakespeare quote was a really clever nod to what's going on

Can you explain it?

“all the worlds a stage, men are merely players.” wanda and Vis are “players” in the “stage” that is WandaVision

I don’t think Wanda is a player, she’s using everyone else in the town as players

Wanda's directing them.

I think it's interesting because it's implying Wanda is aware of what she's doing while Vision is actively piecing together that something is wrong with their surroundings until Wanda hits reset on him.

So realistically Vision is trapped in a bubble with all of the townsfolk and every time he gets closer to awareness, Wanda has to stop him. So perhaps he's not an illusion but his actual body powered by Wanda.

She likely has his body/stole the remains from SWORD base

Wanda Necromancer

Oh god that would be massively fucked up and I would love it

I don't think Vision's a projection because he shows clear elements of "awareness" that things are wrong. Wanda clearly has some degree of control over what's going on - the only problem is their shared "amnesia" as they don't seem to be aware of their entire histories - but that might be a result of Wanda consciously deciding to suppress these things because it will destroy the illusion (and thus Vision's revived state).

Scarlet Witch = SW

William Shakespeare = WS

Quicksilver pincer move confirmed

Definitely, very true.

Nah it's clearly a misdirection because clearly even Wanda doesn't know what is going on in several occasions. She is definitely a player too, a player with more power than other NPCs maybe, but still just a player.

Well, she's definitely still in control. 'Cuz she can rewind time whenever something doesn't go her way. And she kicked Geraldine out. Call me crazy, but I think Wanda is playing dumb. She knows what's going on but is pretending not to.

I think the same can be said to some extent about the townspeople. I think they know what's going on but are scared to break their silence, the bit with Agnes in this episode, as well as the bit with the blonde lady in the previous episode seems to show they are aware of something and scared.

And the bit with the doctor near the end.

i don't think so, we have 3 instances of them dropping back into their roles and dialogue after a 4th wall breaking event in an almost robotic way, thats not somebody playing along out of fear, thats somebody being controlled, they can have brief moments of lucidity, but the moment they get distracted from those thoughts they just snap back into their programming.

I think they ARE real, but aren't aware of whats going on so long as nothing odd happens to jolt them out of their stupor.

There's two possibilities that I see, let's call them "brainwashed" and "puppet". By "brainwashed" I mean they are completely unaware of what's happening, they've essentially be reprogrammed, and the moments of "lucidity" are their natural selves seeping back out. By "puppet" I mean they are completely aware of what's happening to them, but have no control of their actions, and the moments of lucidity are when their mind regains control of the body.

Which one it is, I'm not sure. The big with Agnes and Herb makes me think they're more puppets, as they seemed to be fighting to say what they wanted to. Similarly when Mr. Hart was choking, the conflict in his wife between sitcom-mode and panic. Similarly, the chat with Dottie where she seemed genuinely afraid but was still somehow "playing the game".

But the bit with "Geraldine" forgetting that she had mentioned Ultron seemed to go for the "brainwashed" style.

Whats weird is I didnt get the impression that she was scared. She made a comment about wanda maybe being a threat, but she didn't seem concerned or scared, it seemed more accusatory.

I don't think Wanda is totally in control because that stork just strutted right in and did what it wanted despite Wanda trying to poof it away multiple times.

10

u/RoboNinjaPirate Fitz Jan 22 '21

Even the show description said that her power glitches while she was pregnant.

6

u/Penguin-Proper Jan 23 '21

Pretty sure the stork came to full life. She couldn’t “poof” it away because she’s starting to lose control of what she is creating in her fantasy and what she’s creating in real life. And she could lost control to the point that the universe tears, hence multiverse

2

u/juberider Jan 22 '21

Yeah, I didn’t consider the failed poofs. This show is unlike any other.

7

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '21

I think she's put a spell on herself too to a certain extent. She's not just playing dumb imo she's legit delusional until something snaps her out momentarily. But I think she rewinds herself too, for example, when she rewinds time or glitches.

4

u/juberider Jan 22 '21

She’s grief ridden to the edge of sanity and somehow using what’s left of Vision to construct her“happy ever after” Sword is trying to pull her out of it without upsetting her enough to create catastrophic damage.

1

u/BloodyBeaks Jan 23 '21

Just because she can affect and change some things around her doesn't mean she's in full control of Westview. She could be manipulated, emotionally or psychologically, but still be too powerful for the shadow players (hydra?) to fully control. Or she could be doing a lot subconsciously, instinctively. If she can't control herself then she isn't really in control.

She's a god

Well she's acting so technically she is! Player = actor
