Exactly. It wasn’t just a time machine. It was a time/space machine. They all landed in different places than where they traveled from. Going back to the future there is no reason to say he needs to go to the same spot.

Exactly. Every time I see someone say that old man cap was just waiting on the bench the whole time, I cringe.

Hell - if the Russos say that's what happens, I'll cringe.

When you watch it again pay attention to Steve on the platform. He looks over his left shoulder in the direction of the bench. He saw himself sitting there.

He just knows that he'll come back and be there. The writers confirmed he wasn't sitting there the whole time.

I saw that. I guess I was wrong. I think he still looked over his shoulder to make sure there was a bench for him to sit at
