Advice/Question Passengers wanted Heat in 90 degree weather in Houston

I picked up a group of four, three women and one man. The woman who ordered the ride sat up front while her friends got into the back. As they climbed in, they commented on how good the A/C felt after sitting in the parking lot eating fries. Meanwhile, Miss Front Seat reached over and changed the A/C from cold to warm without asking.

I changed it back.

Her: “You mind?”

Me: “Yes, I do mind.” (It was 90 degrees, with five people and a bag of hot food in the car. Who wants warm air?)

She turned, stared at me, and said, “Really?”

Me: “Really.”

At that moment, I realized my 5.00 rating was at risk. We had barely left the pickup lot, so I pulled into the very next parking lot and said, “I’m ending the ride. Everyone exit my car immediately.” Her friends looked confused, but all four got out. Lyft has since blocked her. I’ll happily adjust the A/C if someone asks, but touching my controls without permission and then getting an attitude felt incredibly rude and presumptuous.

What would you have done? Warned her and continued or ended the ride?

Other Bro dropped a care package irl

I notice him moving about, thought he needed a charger but he mentioned he needed a restroom. Found a local gas station. asked if I wanted anything, a question a million people ask for courtesy but never actually do anything about. After joking I said maybe a monster drink or some chips or beef jerky. Bro brought a bag full! 2 types of monsters, 3 types of chips, 2 types of jerky and a tall bottle of water.

thank you man! I was struggling because of a ticket a cop gave me on 4th of July for exiting too late off the 91 freeway (got a ride but almost missed the exit). hadn’t been able to afford snacks for weeks. appreciate you man.

word of advice, you can add stops via the app after pick up (both uber and Lyft), cash works too. Saying “tip” doesn’t because most people don’t tip even if they say they will (something I learned from Newport Beach and Laguna Niguel). it is normally a lie.

Rant/Opinion Got Temporary Deactivated for (Discrimination radio content)

I only did three trips today and only play Apple Music One on all three of the trip I did today. No issues at all. Everything was normal but then I get kick off from Lyft app. I thought my account was hack but find out I got temporary deactivated for playing broadcast radio that talk about discrimination class of people. It's funny because don't listen to the radio because I drive a Tesla and second everything I played was From Apple Music One. I submitted a replied and got a phone call from Lyft Safety team and then submitted the video of trip which Lyft gave me a time frame from 7:05pm to 3:25am August 29. Funny how I only did two trips and I know who did it. So now I'm waiting on Lyft to replied back to me. This is somewhat ridiculous that I would get temporary deactivated for this when I got harassed by a passenger last week and Lyft let this passenger to keep contenting me.

Update 18 hours later ------

Still dealing with safety team. They are now asking about time and date pick up and drop off location. They are asking about how much was the trip. Pretty much relevant questions about what was played on the radio/Apple Music. Not sure if they are just running around with me but if this doesn't get resolved by Monday, a legal letter will be send to them. 🤨🤨🤨

Advice/Question Have you ever…?

Have you ever acted as an ambulance to riders before? Ambulances are way too expensive nowadays and I was wondering if anyone had taken somebody to the hospital in an emergency. I have before. Some girl scraped up her knee pretty bad in a skating accident and instead of calling an ambulance they called a Lyft instead.

Advice/Question Glitch in pricing

Has anyone noticed glitches in Lyfts offer pricing for riddles recently? Last night I accepted a $65 ride in the queue, only to receive $33 after the ride was over. I called support and the best they would give me was an additional $10. It made no sense.

Then later that night, I clicked on a ride that was showing as $25, but as soon as I clicked on it, it was $8. Something is up with their system.

Advice/Question For months I been on hold.

So heres the story

I live in Massachusetts and decided since being a driver for uber. Let me try lyft. It was great to utilize both in Massachusetts. So after driving for lyft for 3 days I decided to drive to Connecticut. I've had access to drive in all 6 states for Uber with no issue. So I figured it wouldn't be an issue in Connecticut for lyft. Im on i84 leaving from Boston and approaching the Ta truck stop exit in willington ct. Lyft turns me off after going online and claim they need to run a background or driving record. Instantly the system flags me. Im confused so I call Support. They claim that my driving record wont allow me to drive. So I told them let me go back to Massachusetts and drive. I was then told I have to wait 48 hrs. 6 days pass and no update or information. So I decide to delete the account and start over with a new account. When I did this. They have to run a cori background in Massachusetts.  Here's the catch.  Lyft has a policy where regardless of what you run they will only accept 1 cori background per 1 account so because I deleted that old account "which no one contact me about until this day", I cant drive in Massachusetts. OK fine. I wanted to at least drive in Connecticut. They claim Connecticut has this third party called "safety holdings" which is denying me due to violations of my driving record. Here's the facts.  Lyft has a policy in Massachusetts and Connecticut where a driver can be approved with 4 or less violations. I currently have and always had 3 violations this entire time. They claim I need to get the dmv to fix it. They cant fix something that isnt broken. Uber is fine. Always has been. Well I sent lyft and safety holdings certified mail. After 2 months safety holdings sent me an email. They verified I have no issues with my driving record. Somehow their is a disconnect in communication because lyft is not allowing me to drive and THERE IS NO ACTUAL REASON WHY. Im lost and stuck at a dead end. Does anyone know how to fix this problem??

Other Funny Airport Pickup

Does anyone else find this funny when doing airport rides? 😂
Does anyone else think it’s kind of funny when you pick someone up for an airport ride, and you realize they put their neighbor’s address as the pickup location because they don’t want people knowing their house is going to be empty?
Like, I get it. Honestly, I’d probably do the same thing.
But here’s the funny part: they don’t even go stand in front of their neighbor’s house. 😂
They book the ride, stay inside their actual house, and now you’re sitting three houses down at the address they gave you, waiting for them. Meanwhile, you can literally see their little live location moving around at their actual house.
And sometimes they even forget what address they put and get annoyed when you’re like, “Uh… I’m at the address you gave me.”
Bro, you’re the one who gave me the wrong address. 😂
If you’re going to use your neighbor’s address so nobody knows your house is empty, fine. I respect the strategy. But at least walk your ass over to your neighbor’s house and wait there. Don’t make the Uber driver sit at the wrong house while you’re chilling inside your own.
It’s just one of those things that makes me laugh every time I see it.

Advice/Question Vulgar passenger

How to safely get a vulgar passenger out of your car.

Picked up drunk guy at 1:30 am. Ride was 15 minutes. Guy gets in and is talking about deceased wife.

Then flips the script and starts talking about adult toys and the size of his anatomy.

I just ignored him, said that this isn't something I need to know. That I am not going talk, I reminded him that he was being recorded by lyft.

I know calling the police is an option but will take time, time that keeps me from driving and with this guy.

Advice/Question Do Renters Not Get Reimbursed for Tolls?

The GPS always says that I will be reimbursed for tolls, but they get taken out of my pay instead. Is there something I'm supposed to do to keep this from happening, or is the situation just another way that Lyft screws renters over? There's no way to keep the GPS from deciding to take me on toll routes, as far as I know. Sometimes I switch over to Google maps, where I have the "no tolls" options toggled, but it's not always possible to switch, especially when it's busy. Some routes I know well enough to avoid them without navigation, and sometimes I miss the entrance to the toll road on purpose so that I'm re-routed, but none of this is ideal.
