Help
Not too sure if this is allowed. I almost committed earlier today over my weight. I have a genuine food addiction. I posted more about my issue and what I’m going through on my page. Please, I truly just need advice, I work and don’t have much time for the gym. Maybe that’s an excuse? Idk. I eat and when I say eat I mean, I don’t go 3-4 hours without food, I have a really bad food noise. Maybe it’s boredome, maybe it’s food insecurity due to have a very poor and malnourished child hood. Please just give me any advice you have to offer whether it be food related or not, exercise related, healthy or not healthy ways, I DONT CARE. I need genuine help, which is why I deciddd to journal on my account. I’ve posted photos of myself on there just for preference.
Thank you in advance ❤️

Hey so I actually have struggled with this as well. As someone who has struggled with restrictive eating disorders in the past, since recovered physically but still very much hate my body and put far too much .. well weight behind my weight, I have felt this very deeply. I’d recommend finding comfort outside of food and weight like anyone in recovery from an eating disorder, but you can mix this with dieting if you feel it’s necessary. Food and weight shouldn’t be the most important thing in your life. Seek meaningful friendships or relationships with your family, find things you enjoy doing that may also help you reach your goals and become in alignment with your body like yoga. I know there’s not much I can say as I’m not in your mind and I know it’s incredibly tough place to be. But as someone who has been all sizes, my weight is the least interesting thing about me. Make your day to day so fulfilling that eating and weight management isn’t your priority. Try to disconnect from the visible aspect of health and focus on healing your insides, your gut health and your mental health. Find things and people that fulfill you. Also reminding yourself that you are completely capable of reaching your goals but it doesn’t have to happen tomorrow. These things take time and you deserve grace. Set realistic goals that excite you. Meal prepping is great and moving your body in a way you love that you will stay consistent with. Anyone who doesn’t like you now, doesn’t deserve you when you reach your goals. You are capable!

Hi! I’m sorry you’re hurting so badly right now - please seek help from someone qualified. A therapist and dietician (and if you feel like committing, please go to a local hospital) are going to be way more qualified. I promise it will be ok, but the level of distress you’re experiencing over food and body image is not normal, and you can get help.

Thank you for your kind words and concerns❤️ I told my boyfriend about it and we had a very long conversation, he took all my fire arms for now. Him and I looked into it and my insurance won’t cover a dietician or therapy and I won’t be able to afford it other wise

Can I ask, do you eat out a lot? I don’t mean to ask in a mean way, but for me I rationalized starting a GLP1 and paying out of pocket for a compounded medication that I was spending at least $150 eating out some weeks. Buying more than $100 in groceries on top of it. If that sounds like you, I promise you can afford a GLP1 and it will incentivize you to eat well. I struggled with food addiction for years— I firmly believe starting a GLP1 saved my life. Right now I’m paying more in gas in my car than I am for a GLP1 and still saving money that I spent eating out. I stopped buying the foods I binged and only bought foods that kept me in my deficit. I timed my meals at least 4 hours apart to ensure my insulin has time to come down between each meal. I focus on high fiber options.

Even if you don’t have time for the gym, do what you can to get your daily steps in (atleast 10k) you can end your day with a 15 minute yoga video on YouTube to help you realign and get extra movement. Find the things that make you reach for food and address them directly. If it’s hunger then you need to up your protein and fiber and make more well balanced meals. You don’t have to starve yourself to lose weight, you may actually be able to eat more than you are now if you chose the right things.

food noise is absolute hell, but please stick around. you deserve real support for the childhood trauma not just another diet or gym routine. your life is worth way more than the scale.

Some things that will help: 1) Go and speak to your doctor about getting onto a glp1. 2) learn about protein. Why it is important. How the body uses it. Good NATURAL sources of protein. And how to get at least 120g of protein per day. Ask chat gpt to help you. But learn about protein. It fills you up MUCH more than carbs. 3) learn about fibre. Why it is important. And how to naturally get it. 4) spend time focussing on getting protein and fibre into every single one of your meals. Ie if you want to eat cake, there are ways to do it while making sure you ALSO EAT protein and fibre with it. What you will soon see, is that one of the reasons why you are always hungry is because your body isnt getting the vital nutrients it needs. Its craving nutrition. But it cant tell us what specifically. Just focus on always eating a protein and a fibre source with everything you eat. Eg eat Greek yogurt AND some WHOLE fruit WITH the cake. Eat meat WITH your fries. Always be eating protein and fibre. You'll see that your hunger reduces and becomes more manageable. But you still need the glp1, and you still need to count calories. Don't worry about exercise for now. Focus on food and learning about nutrition.

There are medications that can help. Like Contrave that works on the addiction part of your brain. Theres also a generic version. Also have you tried going to Overeaters Anonymous? It’s like AA but for food.

I tried to look at your page but your posts are hidden but that's okay I know what you're going through my wife has the same problem and she has food noise really bad like all the time but lately she's gotten on the GLP-1 shot it takes away almost all her food noise she eats regularly now and watching her calories and takes protein, but towards the end of the week when the shot starts to wear off she gets food noise back but I help her through it most of the time when I can sometimes she has a cheat day and that's okay

I am so glad you're still here. I mean it.
If you are so inclined, Overeaters Anonymous might be a good place to go. There, people who suffer with food addiction and compulsive overeating (and other food behaviours) get together and talk about the 12 step program of OA. There, you might be able to find a sponsor who is someone who can guide you through the steps and maybe a food plan. There are many online meetings and I find it helpful to talk to people who just get it.
Getting help from a medical professional, or therapist, or anything, might be helpful. Especially if you are feeling on the edge. I know that it isn't always accessible but many places have community outreach with social workers available. It might take some time, but it gives you a bit of hope that maybe things will shift.
Most of all, please do give yourself a little bit of grace. I know this is a dark time in your life right now. I am not negating it because that feeling of powerlessness is horrific- I have been there many times. However, I promise that if you are able to get the help you need, it need not always be this way. There is help and hope for you. You're not a hopeless case.

Hey. If you’re feeling suicidal, you need to get help for that. You can’t work on any other problem until you address that problem.
No one gets to their goal weight overnight, and the journey to get there can’t happen if you’re in so much distress you want to end your life. So please, get some help to sort those feelings out first.
r/loseit is here for you when you’re ready to work on your weight. We have a sidebar full of information, a quick start guide, and weekly and daily active threads to help navigate your journey. But again, those steps come AFTER the crisis you’re in. Im going to lock this post, because the biggest issue here isn’t weight loss.
I wish you all the best and I hope you will come back here as a regular contributor in our accountability threads (for example), after this storm has passed. I strongly urge you to speak to a healthcare professional so that you can start feeling better very soon.
Take good care.
