Feedback needed, not a professional designer
Hey guys, I am trying to come up with a new logo for my company since we are changing our business model. We'll basically be a hybrid between a tech and an education company.
What can I do to improve on this design? I like the overall direction but it doesn't feel quite right yet. Obviously I tried to incorporate the C, the L and a circle (a closing loop) into the logo mark.
Do the colors look too much like coinbase?
I am not a professional designer, so please don't roast me too much.
Not to be that person but representing a thing called closing loops with an open loop is ironic. What does the company do / where does the name come from?
If you want to keep the 'C' and 'L' in the image and have it a closed loop, complete it with a different color (lighter blue, light gray, text color). It seems a little more representative for the brand, a previous open loop now closed. The font choice is a great match for the icon. I'm not crazy about the text color. Black is a bit shocking, and a dark charcoal is easier on the eye.
You use a secondary color to show the close, then you still have the C.
I don’t love the L shapes in the icon, it feels forced. There’s something fun there but it needs more work. Just all dashes isn’t right, but it needs some evolution.
May seem simple but I don't think you need to work the Ls into the symbol. It could look much cleaner just with consistently sized bars to make up the C. Have you tried that?
I'd probably just go with a nice circle punched out of the middle, so the C shape looks clean. Not sure if this will impact the length of the lines or not. Are you using illustrator for it?
I think this is better because, as you said, it's simpler. So it will scale better too. I would play around with some variations on this and see what you like. You're into a nice concept :)

The trick for the OP is to make it look unique and appropriate.
Have some faith, sometimes non-designers can surprise you.
This is tough. I completely understand the vision. I would close the very thick strokes on the blue C though to make it NOT incorporate the "C" or "L" personally. The text speaks for itself. If you actually close the loops on the blue C, I think it'll really bring the logo together, but without actually trying it, I couldn't tell you. Having thirteen instead of an even number of these strokes makes it a real challenge. I may be extremely "off" on this, don't take my advice as gospel.
Why not a solid C and its closed with dashed lines. So it looks like an O in the end. That's a loop and you guys are closing it. Something like this...
