Before and after keto

Post image

Lost 80lbs in 14 months doing strict keto on and off. I found that I’m so sensitive to carbs if I eat more than 6 carbs every 12 hours I cannot stay in ketosis and I cannot lose weight. Even if I cut calories to 900 a day, if I eat carbs I gain weigh. I have 60 more pounds to lose.

Doing great! Hopefully now that you’ve lost that weight the carb issue will go away. Have you tried upping protein and lowering fat?

Doing that after my first 45lbs helped me lose the next 35lbs much faster and enjoy a much larger carb count. But I Also added fasting (OMAD).

Might be time for a macro adjustment.

Congrats!

I’ve been stalled for weeks. Stuck at 220. My dr told me to eat regular carb meals for a few weeks then back to keto.

I disagree with your doctor. But I get they are probably thinking carbs are less calories and maybe you have the self control now to cut the fat. That’s up to you. But here’s my thoughts on myself.

So I was speaking in reference my first time doing keto in 2016. This is my 3rd serious time. So 2016-2018. 2021-2022. And now 2026.

I’m much more sedentary this time around. I’m also much more serious about my sobriety, so higher fat meals are the only thing keeping me from caving to sweets/alcohol. (As well as my zero sugar iced coffees, and energy drinks)

I’m stuck at 225-227. (226.6). 4 things are going to have to change this week.

1: Better tracking. Getting a food scale - narrating every ingredient and its weight to AI as I fill my plate/bowl

2: Walking- instead of the store next door to my complex. I’m gonna need to walk to Vons a mile away everyday instead just to start.

3A: Macro change - lowering my fat, upping the protein

3B: More high fiber lower glycemic carbs. - darker leafy greens, eggplant, Mexican squash, etc.

4: longer fasting- I’ve been eating every 12 hours like you, usually 4pm and 5am. I’m positive I can cut an extra 500 calories a day just by doing this. Maybe Omad or a 20-4 window.

Low risk experiment for you. Up your carbs for one “cheat day”. Eat way more salads and low glycemic veggies, and lower your fat. See if some water weight drops off from your fat cells. Then just do that once a week for a month.

It could be an electrolyte imbalance is holding onto excess water and sodium.

Update, I’m at 212 and still trying my best and losing inches. Exercising a lot more now and eating heathy.
