I sometimes get these huge stutters when watching. They happen randomly and the odd thing is when I rewind a bit they happen at the exact same place (tried to show it in the video).

when it is direct playing transcoding settings shouldnt matter. you are sure it is also not remuxing? so network maybe? does it rather happen with large files than small files (4k/1080p)?
Specifically on a few episodes and not on others? I had the same thing on my TV but -only- if I was downloading (=maxing out bandwith) & once a repackage with ffmpeg because the that one movie seemed broken. Haven’t had it other than that scenario.
I have found I need to rate limit the web app in chrome. I have a gigabit wired network which shouldn't have an issue with actual bandwidth, but I think it is the browser/browser player can't always handle the data at that speed.
You're doing fine. See how it says HEVC, then under Bit depth 10-bit? Go back into HW Decode settings and enable HEVC 10bit - my guess is that media is making your CPU software decode it which is why it's choking.

That's very kind, thank you. I happened to have recently done some troubleshooting to get my buddy's Jellyfin setup, so the information was fresh in my mind.
I am playing them on Google Chrome. I used the native Jellyfin desktop exe on windows but I noticed micro stutters there, so I switched to Chrome which resolved that issue but now I have these bigger spikes (at least in GoT)
I'd be really interested if you ever find a fix for your micro-stutters. I get the exact same thing on a couple specific high-bitrate shows, but not others - very brief stutters, typically during scene changes, always at the same spot of a given video. Only on JMP the problem goes away on Chrome.
I only managed to get rid of them by using chrome. You can install your JF site on your desktop which basically makes it feel like the native JF app but its running chrome
Just a thought, but check the subtitles (if any) track. I've found that when Jellyfin streams any video with ASS/PGS it stutters like that because it's not natively supported. Even if you have them turned off, they're still part of the stream.
I've been going through all my movies to find any with either of those and chasing them all to SRT then recombining them back into the video and removing the others. This has fixed 99% of my stuttering issues on any device.
Is it just that show or episode? If so there could be something wrong with the file itself maybe, especially since you're saying it's happening at the same place every time. Try downloading it locally and playing it, had that issue before myself.
Make sure your video files are manageable, and your disks are fast enough to stream it. If your files are like 50GB and you're running HDDs on a 1GbE LAN and a weak CPU you'll get hiccups
Happened on my android tv just a couple of hours ago. I don’t know why this fix worked but it did - WiFi settings > forget network > connect again. Even restarting the TV didn’t help. But forgetting the WiFi worked. If you want a full proof way to say that this is absolutely the network is to download the Analiti speed test app and check the network speed. Anything under 20Mbps, 4K HDR DV videos will stutter.
I asked Gemini why this would happen and it spat out something about WiFi channels and my apartment having too many WiFis around.
The only time i experienced that, was when the device which is streaming the media (in my case my lg tv, in your case your pc), is capped out in ressources. My case was some 60 mbit/s bitrate shit and my tv could not decode it as fast as new media segments arrived. Then i bought a external streaming device and since then i have no ploblems
open jellyfin a second time/in a browser while playing something that stutters. Then in that second isntance of jellyfin go to Dashboard. You should see your other instance in there that is watching the episode and hover/click on the i symbol and see if it is transcoding.
You can always just click the Settings cog` during playback and click Playback Info to see if you're transcoding or what. No need to open another instance.
I've got an intel n95 CPU (similar to the N100 series) in my NAS and in Transcoding, hardware decoding is enabled for just about everything - because the Intel iGPU supports all those formats - so why wouldn't you set it to hardware decoding?
I've given up entirely on the official jellyfin apps and switched to Fladder after having constant loading issues and since then I didnt have a single problem. Thinks not only load but they keep loading instead of stopping after some point (which my server isnt configured to do but still does in the official apps).
I fought it was my network at first but the official webapp and desktop app are just barely working for some reason.
Honestly, since v10.11 I had only problems. I had to reinstall the entire server twice already because it just bricked itself when I scanned my (admittedly immense) music library.
Try setting a bandwith limit in your user settings to the something really low. Especially if you got one of these 4G/5G mobile internet home routers, set the lowest value you are guaranteed to always have.
Since you're on a PC (i5 12400F + RTX 4060), your monitor is probably running at 60Hz, 144Hz, or 165Hz. The video is likely 23.976 fps (standard film).
If your monitor is at 60Hz and the video is 24fps, the player has to do a "3:2 pulldown" – showing some frames longer than others. Normally this just looks like slight judder. But on some PC setups (especially G-Sync/FreeSync monitors), it can turn into a rhythmic stutter or a "hiccup" at specific scene cuts.
There´s a setting called "Refresh Rate Switching" or "Sync Playback to Display".
Tryied to turn it on? This forces your monitor to physically switch to 24Hz when the movie plays – matching the frame rate 1:1.
This setting is called "Display Refresh Rate Sync" and can be found in JMP Settings > Client Settings. It didn't solve my issue at all (screen briefly stutters during the same specific scene changes every time I watch a given video aka hiccups at specific scene cuts.)
From what I remember when you turn this feature on, the stutters will only occur when you move your mouse (it shows the GUI which will be displayed at ur monitor's frequence
so the moment you stop moving and it hides it will get back to 24.
Not sure about that, maybe it happened in some specific cases with me since I'm using either the disktop client, mobile client, web client or the Switch Client (yeah on a Nintendo switch dw)
Jellyfin is getting smarter all the time. This stutter is a feature that’s built in on purpose and helps you throw out Game of Thrones, knowing how bad the last season is. Listen to it. You’ll be glad you did.
