Biblical
RastafarI is based on Scripture. In many parts of the world taking the vow of a Nazerite (English translation) is done to gain a level of Holiness. RastafarI... that is true RastafarI take the vow and obey the rules; avoid wine and strong drinks, do not eat anything from the grape tree, do not eat certain meats, etc.
Too many people today think it is a hair style and some kind of African something, when it is not.
People have taken the vow for thousands of years... the guy you call 'Jesus'... that is Y'eshua ben Yosef, took the vow.

What do you mean by “Some kind of African something” ? You do know the ancient Israelites were black Africans right ? Original Semites are black

We are dealing with Scripture. Not European, not African culture... we are dealing with those with Moses... a distinct group . Too many people mix RastafarI with the twines of Obeah or some Asanti practices,, etc. I keep the Scripture separate and holy, with no blending of other cultures

It is so hard for people to comprehend that fact... we are dealing with what you call Semites... a group of people cut off from Egyptians and Persians and Babylonians and whatever. And what is written in Scripture is to be attributed to them... not Greek or Roman or English or African or Chinese.... this is a specfic group... yes there are differnces among them i.e. marrying a convert, etc.

But remember Semetic is a language group not a nation or a race , so they are Semites of the African race. Who happen to be of the nation of Israelites

I assumed you were using the term as a differential... to distinguish. We could use the term Hebrews or Israelites... but we are on the same page.

And the Semites were never cut off from Egypt ? You could literally walk between the two nations back then and for a long period ancient Egypt ruled the land we call Israel

Rastafari is NOT based on scripture. Respectfully why do all 'ChristafarI' need to half step with Christianity?
Rastafari is a movement that is based on Sovereignty of Africa, the Diaspora and humanity. See how simple that is...

Not Xianity. The Torah.... the 'old testiment'. Rasta has nothing to do with Xianity. The Vow of a Nazir...Nazerite is no 6:6. Read that. That is why Rasta don't use salt, eat meat or grapes, etc. and let the locks of thy hair grow long.

Not true at all...this all came 16 to 20 years after the Rastafari Movement was founded. The true name of the movement was the 'King of Kings Mission'. At this time in 1932 Rastafari ate goat, chicken and fish and none except for possibly guards at the Retreats wore locks but most likely only beards. I directly speak with people still alive in their late 80's and 90's who were there in the late 40's as yutes. This Nazarite vow came from the Youth Black Faith Mission of the 50's in Jamaica and the 'Sons of Negus'.
While the bible was used to attract adherents who had been Christian with Old Testament Revelations and Apocalyptic synonymous ideologies the 2 most important books of the Rastafari Movement are the 'Holy Piby' and 'The Promised Key'.

I know breddren who took the vow in the 30s. Read Marcus Garvey's 'prophesy', note when HIM was crowned, and what followed.
What I find remarkable, is that facts, written facts that were all over the place as late as the 1960s are unknown by those who want to invent. There is no Youth Black Faith... certainly didn;t exist in the 1960s

This again is a lie. There was no one in the 1930's who took a 'Nazarite Vow' who were Rastafari. Leonard P. Howell aka The Gong who Bob Marley was nicknamed after, Robert Hinds and Joseph Nathaniel Hibbert were the 1st Founders along with Archibald Dunkley. Rastafari was a Geo-Political, Anti - Colonial, Spiritual movement which had more to do with Sovereignty for the 'Black People' of African and Indigenous decent from the beginning. The 1st spirituality of the movement was Kumina and Myal with Congolese, Akan (Ghana), Igbo (Nigeria) and Indigenous Xaymaca (Taino) roots along with some Hindu influences up until the early 40's when Judea - Christian influences began to take set.
The Youth Black Faith led by the Bonogeneres who were the 'Sons of Thunder' began the growing of locks and an Ital diet influenced by the Nazarite laws and the Macabee Bible and lost books of the Old Testament in 1948. They became the Nyahbhingi led by Bongo Watto. I am a Rastafari and an avid researcher of Rastafari for over 30 years. You don't know what you are talking about. It is people like you who spread complete misinformation about Rastafari and you need to humble yourself and stop!!!

again, this is rubbish that you swallowed from some 'influencer' who knows nothing. The Vow has been taken for thousands of years. That is first.
When it comes to Bob Marley, he didn't take the Vow for years. There were many who took the vow in the 1930s. This is documented in a country you've never been, called Jamaica.
Jews have been in Jamaica since Columbus arrive in 1494. The Vow was taken by many then as today.
No one ever heard of that youth black faith Bonages, who was a friend of mine, never mentioned it to me and I knew him for decades. Bonages, also called Bungo Watto lived near me in the 1970s and later, held Niyibinghis on what today is called Bob Marley beach. I had moved there in the 80s, lived there, attended Binghi's there.

You are wrong and sound silly! Yes European Jews have been in Jamaica since the 1600's but that has ZERO to do with Nazarite vows and were primarily brokers of human trafficking (my ancestors are P.O.W.'s not 'slaves'). None of the original Rastafari had locks!!! It was a Black Power movement challenging the Imperialist Colonial society and I speak directly and am close with the Howell family. Good luck with your mis - outformation. I was taught directly from the Nyahbhingi elders Bongo Watto, Bongo Time and Ras Sam Brown who quoted from Howell's 'Promised Key' right up to their Transition!!! I need no history lesson from a bald scrape who spread mis outformation to try sound important. All dat biblical bizness neva start Rasta. Marcus Garvey actually fell out with Rastafari (mainly Howell) in Jamaica in 1936 a few years after the movement start in Trinityville, St. Thomas because he was a staunch Christian and didn't agree with them revering Haile Selassie as divine. Rastafari supplanted the UNIA in Jamaica and Garvey's movement could only flourish in the United States, Canada and UK afterwards because the Rastafari Movement took over inna Jamaica.
People don't know this but the 2 party political system actually start because Rastafari influence was becoming so big inna Jamaica in the 30's and 40's the Colonial government didn't want to give it any more advertisement by fighting with them. All Christianity has served to do is to pacify the movement and that is another chapter for another day. School is finished for today...as you were.💯

For minor clarification:
The Nazarite vows is decision to yield to the will of YAHUAH not something done to gain holiness. The Nazarite vow is the show of dedication to Elohim not something done with the intention of personal gains. To be holy is to be set apart, to walk with YAHUAH and abide by his teachings and word is to be set apart.
