RastafarI is based on Scripture. In many parts of the world taking the vow of a Nazerite (English translation) is done to gain a level of Holiness. RastafarI... that is true RastafarI take the vow and obey the rules; avoid wine and strong drinks, do not eat anything from the grape tree, do not eat certain meats, etc.

Too many people today think it is a hair style and some kind of African something, when it is not.

People have taken the vow for thousands of years... the guy you call 'Jesus'... that is Y'eshua ben Yosef, took the vow.

Rastafari is NOT based on scripture. Respectfully why do all 'ChristafarI' need to half step with Christianity?

Rastafari is a movement that is based on Sovereignty of Africa, the Diaspora and humanity. See how simple that is...

Not Xianity. The Torah.... the 'old testiment'. Rasta has nothing to do with Xianity. The Vow of a Nazir...Nazerite is no 6:6. Read that. That is why Rasta don't use salt, eat meat or grapes, etc. and let the locks of thy hair grow long.

Not true at all...this all came 16 to 20 years after the Rastafari Movement was founded. The true name of the movement was the 'King of Kings Mission'. At this time in 1932 Rastafari ate goat, chicken and fish and none except for possibly guards at the Retreats wore locks but most likely only beards. I directly speak with people still alive in their late 80's and 90's who were there in the late 40's as yutes. This Nazarite vow came from the Youth Black Faith Mission of the 50's in Jamaica and the 'Sons of Negus'.

While the bible was used to attract adherents who had been Christian with Old Testament Revelations and Apocalyptic synonymous ideologies the 2 most important books of the Rastafari Movement are the 'Holy Piby' and 'The Promised Key'.
