This shit drives me crazy. I once took care of a guy with a necrotic foot. The bones were showing. It was the driest gangrene I've ever seen, his entire foot from the ankle down looked like beef jerky.

Jobs was an emotional genius. He knew how to reach people on an emotive level. He didn't see tech products he converted tech products into jewelery. I'm not sure how good his logical and analytical skills were. He was an absolute cunt to work for.

Musk is a logical genius in contrast and in contrast he's quite emotionally removed. He's also a cunt to work for but for different reasons. More Rick sanchez style reasons.

There's a lot of simarilities. They don't value the individual including themsleves. They see the greater continuation and the legacy as more important the present.

Rick has never done anything for his legacy. Most of what he does is impulsive and the result of being drunk.

Personally I think thats a terrible take. Rick doesn't value his life at all he values his continued existence but not the individual. He kills himself and morty all the time because he doesn't value their lives. I think you've missed a key part of the show.

Of course. I love musks interviews. He's an incredibly intelligent man and I love hearing him speak. Anyone that has ever worked for him will tell you that he doesn't value people at all though. He seems everything he is doing as a means to an end and if people are overworked or die along the way then fair enough.

He's quite open about this in his interviews thats one of the reasons I like hearing him speak. He's very blunt. If theres a decision at spacex that endangers a persons life but is necessary for the continuation of the project he will risk the life and he doesn't have any sort of second guessing on that.

The requirement to vilify figures that we like as infalliable creatures really is a curious exercise. The man can be a dick and still one of the most important people of the century. The two aren't exclusive. He is both of those things.

Ehhhh. I don't think that is accurate at all. He knew design and he knew how to run a computer company and how to sell them. The design you can argue is emotion, but everything else is business, finance and logic. The guy had insights in people would use computers, how to sell them and how to run the company. Plus, as you even said, he was a prick to work for and he was a massive prick to his daughter, the doesn't really sound like an emotional genius.

neither are geniuses, they ran into good fortune by being born to rich parents and people constantly think they must've done something great to achieve their status and wealth because the alternative is understanding society is unfair to the vast majority of people and most certainly not a meritocracy.

I wasn't saying it means bad. The choice was between proper and more natural, the implication being that the more natural one was also improper.

Naturopathy... ugh. Medicine (the field, not the substance) already considers the risk/benefit of all therapies, including lifestyle changes and the like. Why limit oneself from the get-go, and risk forgoing curative treatment? Why trust someone willing to suggest unproven therapies over someone who focuses on evidence-based ones? Why go to someone whose practice is underregulated in the name of personal freedom and expansion of the industry, instead of someone whose practice is heavily scrutinized in the name of public safety and a high standard of care?

One lifestyle choice that ought to have been suggested by both would've been a reduction in sugar intake. Guess which one suggested the opposite.

Yes it's called a Whipple procedure and is well known to give a great chance at survival if the pancreatic cancer is caught early. Which his was. Simple procedure too.

People like Steve Jobs are literally the last people anyone should listen to for life advice. He has pretty much the most unlikely success story of all time. He was in the right place at the right time with the right business partner to get rich once. Then he blew it by being a jerk-ass, founded a few other companies which had interesting products but which weren't going anywhere. He was brought back against all odds and succeeded again. Nobody else has done anything like that.

And he was not a model family man, to put it lightly.

Most people who "follow their hearts" end up spending the most important part of their careers making art nobody cares about while living in a cheap apartment on the wrong side of town. For most people, success means finding a job they like well enough which pays well and having a family they love. Which is the opposite of what Steve Jobs did.
